Braving Fushimi Inari Shrine by Midnight: A Real Unique Experience in Japan

Best viewed on Mobile!

Our last day for our trip in Japan is finally coming to our senses. We all know we shouldn’t miss Fushimi Inari Shrine and if we push all ourselves to explore it in the day, I’m sure we’ll just fail or we’ll get burnt out early. So later that night, we all decided to do a bike adventure and tour to the famous Fushimi Inari Taisha.

Fushimi Inari Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Emil, whom at the time, didn’t know how to use or balance himself on a bike was forced to learn in a very little time. We were glad for him because he got to learn the skill in Japan! Achievement Unlocked indeed! Oh, and yes, we did a bike tour from Ginkakuji to Fushimi Inari Taisha!

It was already about 1 am when we departed from our Airbnb Hostel. We took only one pocket wifi and 4 bikes, each for us. The only navigation we had was from Google Map. Unfortunately, the map gave us a longer route going to the shrine and it took us about 2 hours before we got to the spot. Unfamiliar with the place, we took that longer route. There’s really nothing much to see on the streets of Japan during the night but you’ll definitely be amazed by how peacefully looking Kyoto is at night time.

In the middle of our bike trip, a police mobile came close by. We thought that Kim, who had been biking fast and outside the biking lane, was about to be questioned as to why she was biking outside the specified lane. Frani, who slowed down from biking went a little nervous about that small police mobile act. Luckily, the officer probably just looked at us and wondered what were we doing and why are we biking in the dark of the night. Phew!

After roughly 1 hour and a half, we are so close to Fushimi Inari. We passed by many schools, houses, the Gion District, stores, dark streets, we even went through a small alley under the bridge just to get to the other side of the street. We also crossed a train railing and the good thing was, that crossroad was open. We passed by an unknown street and everything was new to us. It was also drizzling so we’re sort of wet when we arrived in Fushimi Inari. It was cold, very cold, that we didn’t get to perspire so much from all those biking we’ve done.

Fushimi Inari Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Fushimi Inari Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Alas, we arrived! The shrine was empty. Nobody was there except us. A different kind of feeling. Like we’re the only people in the world and that we were welcome by Inari, but at night. It was dim, there were lights, but they are not enough to illuminate everything.

Fushimi Inari – Taisha, is the head shrine of Inari. The shrine sits at the base of a mountain which is 233 meters above sea level and includes trails up the mountain to many smaller shrines which span 4 kilometres and takes approximately 2 hours to walk up, but we were there for just an hour only.

Exploring the Fushimi Inari at night is a little creepy. I get to drink a few cups of spring water from the water basin inside the shrine. Make sure to follow the rules on drinking the water as you are not the only who had used or will be using the cup! The structures were amazing! The torii gates seem to be a door to another dimension. Imagine a thousand torii gates are waiting for us to bring us to another world.

Fushimi Inari Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Fushimi Inari Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Fox structures are also everywhere. Foxes in Japan are often regarded as messengers and mostly are seen in Inari shrines with a rice granary in their mouths. This what creeped my friends out. I still remember, they think that those foxes are looking at us, manning our every move.

As we walk along the middle of the torii gates, the creep factor goes up. If I remembered it right, I assured everyone not to creep out as we go deeper the shrine’s torii gates. As we walk further, it goes darker. Some of the lights were not functioning, thus, only little lights are illuminating the scene. Our phones flashlights aren’t good as well.

Fushimi Inari Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

With this creep factor on their mind, we decided to go back to the main entrance and hit the other side of the shrine. We went on the torii gates located in the right portion of the shrine earlier, now we’re going the other way. However, they have decided not to go far anymore so we weren’t able to check the scenery further afar. And we were there in between 2:30 am until 3:30 am.

You know the feeling when it’s too dark and you think that somebody’s looking at you in every direction. We were even joking that those foxes may come to life and instantly show in front of us or just like what we see in anime where foxes are the spirits and guardians of the Fushimi Inari Shrine.

After about an hour, it was still drizzling and we felt exhausted. We know we still need to go back to our Airbnb hostel to catch some sleep because we have to take a look at Kinkaku-Ji Temple, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, and if time permits, Nara Deer Park. Surprisingly, biking was way faster going back to our place and that was an epic and unique experience.

Fushimi Inari Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

That’s how it felt like when we went on a bike adventure in Kyoto going to Fushimi Inari Shrine. I suggest you try it too! You’d get to see more scenery and new things while on a bike!

Quality of the photos were bad, sorry!

A Travel Guide for the Pandemic Times

Nations around the globe are gradually opening their borders and businesses. Alongside such changes is the opening of both domestic and international air travel, with many countries gearing to bring their respective economies back to speed by reviving its trade and tourism industry.

With the entire travel industry still navigating a new landscape, one thing is certain: traveling in a post-pandemic world will never be the same. With pandemic travel inevitable in what’s hopefully the near future, observing health and wellness checks and well as safety guidelines are in order.

If you are expecting to travel during this pandemic, below is a travel guide that details what you need to be wary of and how you can best prepare for the new normal while still seeing a bit of the world and going about your business. Read on to learn more.

A Travel Guide for the Pandemic Times

Traveling and Social Distancing in a Pandemic – Is It Possible?

While both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) state that staying at home is still the best way to help ensure your safety and protection in this pandemic, they have set up guidelines that allow traveling individuals to observe safe travel.

Although sitting closely or being near other travelers can be a cause of panic for many, traveling for a bit and practicing social distancing protocols can still be observed. Nowadays, many airlines and even transportation systems around the globe have issued a new normal routine.

Individuals traveling via plane or air now have the option to book seats that are at least one seat apart, meaning they can still maintain a socially distanced setting. It also reduces the risk of transmission.

While many people think that airplane travel is one of the easiest ways to get sick, Joe Allen, Assistant Professor of Exposure Assessment Science from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, said that air quality in such carriers is relatively good

Car travel is also another viable option for pandemic travel. Not only does it contain or limit contact with the outside world and other surfaces, but it also allows people to rekindle the sense of what it means to travel in the past.

Travel Guide During a Pandemic: How to Ensure Safe Travel

For safe travel during a pandemic, below are some guidelines you might want to take note of. Read on to learn more.

Maintain Distance

National parks and beaches have become a sort of open space for individuals to find respite during these trying times. However, to contain the number of people coming in and out of this, these places have started issuing limits for the number of visitors

When going to these places or other similar crowded locations, make sure to maintain a six-foot distance at all times. Avoid close contact activities and make sure to practicing social distancing.

Whether it’s lining up at your boarding gate or a bus stop, maintaining distance is one of the most effective ways of limiting the transmission of the virus as you can avoid breathing in droplets that may contain this.

Wear Protective Gear

Always wear masks when going out in public. Studies show that wearing a mask has led to a significant slowdown in the virus growth rate. If you are a virus carrier yourself and may be asymptomatic, you can save lives knowing you won’t transmit the virus to anyone else.

Be wary of groups or individuals who refuse to wear masks, especially those outside of your household. Steer clear of these mask naysayers as these may only put you and others at risk.

In the same way, opt to stay in places, such as hotels, that have enacted safe travel protocols in place. These can be establishments that have installed plexiglass or barriers at their reception, their staff is required to wear masks, and even places getting your temperature.

Doing so ensures that you are in good and safer hands, given that many of these industries today are now abiding by the Stay Safe guidelines put out by the American Hotel and Lodging Associations.

Frequently Wash Your Hands with Soap and Water

A Travel Guide for the Pandemic Times

Last but certainly not least is washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially if you have been out in public. Washing your hands kills viruses and germs that may be present on your hands.

If soap and water are not readily available, make sure to use alcohol or hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% of alcohol.

The Bottom Line

Pandemic travel is certainly the new normal. If you are going on a trip anytime soon, make sure to observe these guidelines to help keep your body safe and protected at all times.

Villa Elma: Hidden Nature Getaway in Lucban, Quezon | Travel Guide 2020

Lucban is a town in Quezon known for their “longganisa” for its strong flavor and sumptuous taste and of course, the well-known colorful festival, Pahiyas Festival, in honor of San Isidro Labrador. Ebay Delivery Tips When You’re Always Travelling

Are you looking to have some items delivered from eBay? Well, you are not alone. Most people have this question, especially when they are traveling from one place to another and have already placed their orders.
Good news! One can use shipping services such as courier for ebay and have the items delivered to the desired location. These companies have the required logistic knowledge and equipment to deliver all your items regardless of the fragility.
With the information discussed herein, one is in a better position to know the courier services to involve in the tasks.

Photo by Bench Accounting on Unsplash

Tracking Your Items

A company must have a reliable order tracking system for their clients. These tracking systems are indispensable in helping you know where your items are at all times. Considering that it is an online access system, you have the convenience advantage and know how far your items have transited.
Even when you are traveling, you can quickly know where the items have reached. The tracking system activates after purchase on eBay, and one gets a notification every time the order shifts location. As a result, the buyer gets transparency in the entire process. Ensure that your selected shipping experts have a reliable tracking system.

The reputation of the Courier Services

Photo by Claudio Schwarz | @purzlbaum on Unsplash

You cannot risk shipping your high value and delicate items via the wrong company. As such, one is required to get into research and understand what the other clients have to say regarding your selected courier services.
To assess the idleness of the company, you can check for reviews posted by the previous buyers on their websites and social media platforms. Shipping companies like Parcel Hero are renowned and encourage clients to leave reviews on their sites for others to find and get help. Your selected courier company must have a positive reputation; this way, you can trust them to handle all your items.

Estimate Cost of the Courier Services

How much should you pay for the shipping? Shipping companies require you to pay an additional charge to the purchasing fees. The courier fees differ from one company to another, and your responsibility as a buyer is to determine what works best for you. For specific companies, the fees are determined by the weight of the item, the fragility, and urgency.
There are high chances that you will pay more for an urgent order as compared to the regular orders. Before you make any choices, you must get in touch with the courier services and get an estimate of the required fees. Affordable and reasonable should be your priority.

Estimated Delivery Time

Since you are frequently on the move, you require updates regarding your shipment. The right courier service should give you an estimated delivery time to your desired location. Intercontinental shipping is likely to take more time as opposed to interstate shipping.
The estimated time is a calculation based on the processing time, the transit time, and the actual date. For more accurate computations, you should let the courier services handle the calculations and communicate them to you.

Quality Customer Support Services

Photo by Wicked Monday on Unsplash

Communication is a crucial component when it comes to online businesses. How can you trust a provider with no viable forms of communication? As the buyer, you need to assess the quality of their customer support before shipping products with them.
Most of them have live chats, emails and phone numbers for communication. To know if they work right, you can anonymously reach out to them and gauge how they respond to your questions; check the speed, language, and satisfaction acquired. You can only work with them when you are impressed by the results.

Conclusion

Buying items on eBay is conveniently fun for you! You can get your items shipped to your doorstep within a record time, thus eliminating the trouble that sets in with traditional shopping.
For one to get great results and services, you must pick the right shipping or courier services. Companies like Shiply make your work trouble-free with transportation and deliveries to where you are; your comfort matters to them. They offer more affordable services; you can get discounts and save a lot more from the acquisition process!

Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, and Yas Waterworld are set to be the first theme parks in the United Arab Emirates to accept the payment method thanks to a new partnership with CellPoint Digital. Using the Velocity Alternative Payment Hub, the theme parks will be able to select and activate different methods to meet the demands of visitors from any part of the world, including Alipay and other e-wallet services like Google Pay.
In the official announcement, CellPoint Digital stated that the rollout of AliPay and other payment methods would ensure that tourists from regions, including China, would be able to use preferred options when buying their tickets.

Changing times

This news is just one of the latest examples of how the travel and tourism sector is looking to adapt to the changing trends in the world of payments at the moment.
Such issues have attracted plenty of attention in recent years, particularly with the rise of new options and the growing interest around the idea of going cashless. In June, a study published by MasterCard found that seven out of ten consumers across the world believe their recent shift to digital forms of payment is likely to be permanent, with around half of those polled revealing they plan to use cash, less often.
Organizations across a host of industries have taken steps in line with such trends, with many retailers embracing the likes of Apple Pay and PayPal. Alternative payment methods have had a big presence in online sectors as well, with many retail and entertainment industries being attracted to eWallets as safe and secure payment methods. For example, the online casino industry continues to utilize digital payment offerings, due to the importance of secure transfers and deposits. Brands now offer digital payments across a variety of slots and gaming options, with Skrill, Neteller, and ecoPayz being just a few of the providers which are usually supported.
The food industry has also embraced online payments, with Starbucks, for example, outlining how it allows customers to use Apple Pay to reload their Starbucks Cards, making the exchange easier and more convenient for their customers.

Travel trends

However, while visitors to Abu Dhabi’s major theme parks might want to look out for new ways to pay, where else might you see online or mobile payment options pop up as you travel?

If you’re planning to use AirBnB for your accommodation needs, it is worth noting that the site is open to a range of different payment methods for specific countries. It details how it supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal, while Alipay and WeChat Pay are also options in mainland China. Postepay is on offer in Italy, while PayU is also available in India.
New payment methods have also been embraced by airlines, with Ryanair’s Android app supporting Google Pay. In addition, travelers can use PayPal to pay for flights with British Airways. You might also see alternative payment methods emerge when you’re out and about on public transport. For instance, MacRumors recently confirmed that Apple Pay with Express Transit mode has seemingly gone live on the Washington Metro.

A big impact

The world of payments is going through some big changes at the moment and it is unsurprising that it is having an impact on major areas like travel and tourism.
If you have a preferred form of online or mobile payment or are simply keen to try a new way to pay on your next trip, it may well be worth doing some research into what is accepted at the places you’re heading to. Embracing new payment methods might bring a new level of security and convenience to your vacation.

ZooRI also offers seasonal shows and events. During Christmas season, there is the so-called “Million Litez” where the lights are displayed similar to the one from Japan. Over a million lights are lit in the park. And the other one is the Four Faces of Magic – an entertainment and magic show (Red, Green, White, and Black).

The Black Magic Show Experience

When we visited, it was the time for the Black Magic Show. The show comprises of dances and magic acts with the Halloween theme as it was November, the season for the dead and the saints. It was a little bit scary, great, and fun! They even had to incorporate a few animals where most people are afraid of including snakes, reptiles, and other few cold-blooded animals. The dance show would include clowns dancing and frightening people. Some would show up on your side without you knowing it. They also used the zip line and the cable car for the show. It was one good show! You definitely shouldn’t miss this when you visit ZooRI.

Dinner in the Dark

[hoops name=”InArticle”]
Dinner in the Dark is a concept originally started on Switzerland. It is a way to enhance your senses and a great culinary experience. Having your vision taken out, you are starting to feel more, smell more, taste more, and hear more. Your other senses have heightened up, in layman’s term. It’s also a way to help our visually impaired brothers and sisters and understand how it felt dining without a good sense of vision.
You will be entering the dining hall blindfolded. The visually impaired staffs are the one who will be escorting you inside the dining hall from the entrance to your chair. Once everyone is settled and comfortable enough, staff will tell the position of the meal, water, spoon, and fork, via the clock system. It’s up to you how would you recognize the food, the dessert, and the juice (if applicable). You’ll experience what our blind brothers and sisters are experiencing when they are eating when it’s always dark on their own.
After about 30 minutes, the lights will be lit up and the blindfold shall be removed. Some plates will look like a mess while others did a good job at maintaining cleanliness. After a while, there will be sharing of thoughts and experience. This Dinner in the Dark activity is such an awe-inspiring experience. People usually say that it’s hard for them to eat when it’s too dark and they do not know what they are eating. If this had been a difficult task for one with a good vision, how difficult it could be if you had been visually impaired all your life? Think and rethink.
