8 Reasons to Book Coron Soleil Garden Resort for your Coron Vacation

If there is one resort that I would recommend not only for couples but for families and groups too, it would be Coron Soleil Garden Resort. If you’re looking for a budget friendly accommodation, Coron Soleil Express Hotel is the alternative.
Coron Soleil Garden Resort has just opened last year in September but has now become one of the most popular hotels in Coron. Having experienced staying at the resort, I cannot wonder why. It boasts a great view and you will most likely be struck with awe the moment you enter the pool area. It grounds at the foot of Mount Tapyas so fresh air and a scenic view are guaranteed.

READ: The Ultimate List of Travel Essentials

We listed the top reasons why you should book at Coron Soleil Garden Resort:

1. Friendly and Approachable Staff

Coron Soleil Garden Resort - https://twobudgettravelers.com
This is one of the most important factors to consider when looking for an accommodation. Why would you want to book at a hotel that doesn’t value guests? At Coron Soleil Garden Resort, your satisfaction is their happiness. The staff will greet you with full smiles and are willing to help at anytime you would need them. They would even offer themselves and ask if you need something else.

READ: Things to Look Out for Before Checking In an Accommodation!

2. Scenic Views, Quiet Location, and Fresh Air Guaranteed

Coron Soleil Garden Resort - https://twobudgettravelers.com
As mentioned in the introduction, the Coron Soleil Garden Resort is located at the foot of Mt. Tapyas. The complex is not beside the main road where vehicles are passing by. Full relaxation is also ensured whether you are inside or outside your room as the location is away from noise aside from those created by nature. You can even sleep soundly and de-stress at the poolside while sun bathing. The view at this resort was just breathtaking.

3. On-site Restaurant and Bar

Coron Soleil Garden Resort - https://twobudgettravelers.com
Sol 721 at Coron Soleil is the proud name of their restaurant. Its name was derived from the idea of 721 steps going up to Mt. Tapyas (the highest peak in the area). Coron Soleil Garden Resort is located quite away from the main shops and diners. It would take around 5-15 mins by foot from the resort to the main road and it’s a good thing that they set up a bar and restaurant so you won’t have to go far just to get a dose of drink at night or look around for delectable lunch and dinner.

4. 5-star service at a 4-star price

Coron Soleil Garden Resort - https://twobudgettravelers.com
I know this sounds a little exaggerated but this is TRUE! The real deal is that at this price point, you won’t find hotels with such great service and amenities. I have been to 5-star hotels but Coron Soleil exceeded my expectations. I can say it was even better. Our experience was just too wonderful and everything went perfectly with them.

5. Free Shuttle Service to and from the Airport

Coron Soleil Express Hotel - twobudgettravelers.com
One great thing about booking at Coron Soleil Garden Resort is that you won’t have to worry about getting to town or hotel as they offer this service for FREE. Even if you are booked at Coron Soleil Express Hotel, you still have this privilege. Not every hotel offers a free shuttle service so this definitely is a big plus. Less hassle!

6. Free Buffet Breakfast

Oh, yes! The most important meal of the day! If you’re booked at the Coron Soleil Garden Resort, you sure will have a sumptuous breakfast, and take note, it’s a buffet meal to start-up your day at Sol 721. The buffet menu changes every day but you will still have your daily favorites. Omelet, for example, is freshly cooked before your own eyes (I love it with cheese and mushrooms!). There are a variety of dishes to choose from and will surely fill you up before starting your island hopping and swimming activities.

7. Ideal for Family or Group Trips

Coron Soleil Garden Resort - https://twobudgettravelers.com
The rooms are ideal because each room is interconnected with one another. One villa has three rooms separated by doors from which in the middle is the Poolside Suite and are totally soundproof. If you’re on a family trip or a group, the room setup is ideal for you.

8. Poolside Suite is absolutely PERFECT for Couples

Coron Soleil Garden Resort - https://twobudgettravelers.com
When we transferred from Express Hotel, we were both excited to see the look of our room from which we will be staying until we check-out. To our surprise, the Poolside Suite did not disappoint! This surely is quintessential for honeymooners or couples alike.

READ7 Reasons Why You Should Travel With Your Partner

The Poolside Suite has a comfy king-sized bed, air-conditioners, a huge flat-screen TV with cable channels, a relaxing sofa adjacent to the bed, has its own kitchen and appliances (refrigerator, microwave oven, etc) so you can store drinks or heat your food. A wardrobe with a vault, bath robes, and other convenient stuff. The comfort room sure is wide enough and is stylish enough to get your attention to stay longer inside, partnered with hot and cold shower.
Toiletries are also a great deal in this hotel as they are completely provided. You also won’t have to request for a hair dryer as it is already in your room. The soap they supply is also curated to help sooth sunburned parts of your skin because they know you will be exposed to the sun by the day. They clearly know what their guests need.

Wi-Fi is not too bad, don’t worry. You’d still be able to post your favorite selfies and “at the moment” photos. If you’re digital nomad, you can still get a good access outside or at the desk for a wired connection.
From the room, you’ll be witnessing the view outside. Waking up to a great scenic view is also important (well, for us) and Coron Soleil has that to offer. I definitely can say that almost every corner of Coron Soleil Garden Resort is considered “Instagrammable“.
The infinity pool is not boring during the night as it will take you away with its light and colors blending well together to create a pleasing and charming ambiance that would make you want to swim with delight. The pool can go deep up to 6 feet so be careful. It has 3 divisions, the bubble pool, kids pool, and the lap pool. Unfortunately, you can’t bring your drinks beside the pool for the sole reason of safety. If in case the bottle breaks, it could cause wounds and accidents. Safety is a priority. Lifeguards are also available day and night. However, the pool is open only until 10 pm.

Jane and I were truly delighted with our experience with Coron Soleil Garden Resort. There has never been a dull experience at Coron. After our tours from Coron Blue Lagoon Adventure Travel and Tours, we have the resort to relax from and buy some drinks at the bar to chill by night.
Kudos to Ms. Kharla, Jerome, MJ, Quel, Grace, Ken, and all the other staff not mentioned (sorry, I forgot the names) for making our experience at Coron Soleil Garden Resort one of a kind.
It was an experience we would always treasure and remember. We felt the warm hospitality very well and it’s really evident to every staff. We both wish to come back soon. We recommend you book this hotel and make the most out of your Coron getaway.

How to Track Cycling Distance using this App

Distance tracking apps are on the rise. From measuring the steps one has taken to mapping the distance a person has ran to tracking the length someone has swam, there now are a ton of tools that enable users to keep track of the distance they have gone.

With this, it comes as a no surprise that cycling trackers are now also available. The Strava app, especially, is one of the most popular bets among the options. Complete with advance features and tools, the software enjoys a favored status among the community of riders across the globe.

Interested to try out this app? Here, we have prepared a brief guide that will let you know the what, how, and where of using the software. Read on and see whether the Strava: Track Running, Cycling & Swimming is the best option for you.

Strava: Track Running, Cycling & Swimming – Features & Perks

Recognized to be one of the most popular GPS cycling apps, Strava boasts of its reliable and advanced ride logging functions geared to helping users keep track of their various fitness activities, monitor their stats, and measure their performance using the data collected. Specifically, with the said app, users have the option to choose from three different ways to keep on top of their trainings and activities.

The first one is recording their runs, swims, and rides, where they can get key stats on the distance they have traveled, their speed, the elevation they’ve gained, and the calories they have burned. Later, they can use the data to measure their performance and identify areas for improvement.

The second option is to connect with friends and have their own personal Strava heat maps.  And, lastly, users can also choose to engage in monthly challenges and compete with others to add spice to their fitness activities.

To heighten the communal vibe, individuals can also share their record routes and photos of their latest bike rides on their Strava feeds to share with their friends and followers. Here, they can freely leave comments, praises, and suggestions.

On top of that, if someone is looking for an adventure, they may simply turn to the app to explore new routes, build one of their own, or get inspired by a friend’s activity that they can see on their feed. If you like someone else’s activity, you can send that route to your phone or GPS device.

With this, it comes as a no surprise that Strava claims itself to be “the world’s largest route and trail resource” to date, with millions of athletes sharing popular stretches of roads or trails that are perfect for cycling.

Possible Issues you may Encounter

Of course, similar to all other tracking apps, Strava can also has its own setbacks. Specifically, since the app records activities using GPS, devices that may have problems with their GPS may negatively affect the overall performance of the app. Among the common issues is the inaccurate collection of data.

Where to Get Strava: Track Running, Cycling, & Swimming

Fortunately, the Strava app is now available for both iOS and Android devices. To get the app, you may simply visit the Apple Store (if you’re an iOS user) or the Google Play (if you’re an Android user). From there, tap on the search bar, type in Strava and click Enter. Look for the title of the app from the results and tap the Download button.

Generally, you can have access to the standard version of Strave for free. However, if you want to ditch the ads and take advantage of all of its features, you can choose to subscribe to its Summit pack, which is available at $5.00 a month or subscribe to the app’s other paid bundles.

The Bottom Line

Impressed with the Strava: Track Running, Cycling & Swimming app? Whether you simply want to record your rides for future reference or want to measure your cycling performance, turning to this incredible software can help you do that. Download this app today to track your activities!

4 Things New Travelers Should Know

Going traveling for the first time is one of those amazing rights of passage that changes the lives of so many people around the world. The person you are after you’ve been on your first big foreign adventure is not the person you were before. Usually, this change is for the better.
The thing about travel is you get better at it the more you do it. I suppose that’s like most things in life. That’s not to say seasoned travels always know best, they definitely don’t. But there are certain mistakes newbies make time and again that tend to get ironed out over time.

I wish more than anything I could go back and tell my younger self one or two things before my first big trip. Well, I can’t because unfortunately, Elon Musk hasn’t invented the time machine yet. But I can pass on a few words of wisdom to anybody out there about to embark on their maiden voyage.

Here are my top four things all new travelers should know.

People are good

4-things-new-travelers-should-knowDespite what the news has conditioned you to believe, the world is not a cesspit of chaos and anarchy. The second you step off that plane you’re not going to get kidnapped by Albanian people smugglers and have to call your dad Liam Neeson to come and rescue you. Albania is amazing. I’ve been, twice, and they are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet in your life.
Across the world people are just trying to get by, trying to make a living, trying to do the best for their family. Just like at home. When they see a stranger in distress they will likely come to their help.
What I am trying to say is don’t be afraid. Get stuck in there. If you see a busy market go get lost in the middle of it. Now, obviously don’t do anything silly, don’t wander around with your purse hanging out your pocket, don’t venture don’t dark alleys alone at night. Basically, don’t do anything you wouldn’t do at home.

Don’t forget to sleep

This is a very common mistake first-timers make. They are so excited to be away from home and free from all responsibilities that they forget to look after themselves as they would at home.
4-things-new-travelers-should-know
Sleep is the single most important thing we can do for our health, it is especially important for our immune system. Guess what? Your immune system is vitally important when you are traveling in foreign lands being exposed to new and previously unfamiliar foods and bacteria.
The less well-rested you are, the more likely you are to succumb to any one of the countless bugs you can pick up on the road.
Unfortunately being able to sleep on the road often isn’t as easy as it is at home, the heat, the travel and the excitement often conspire to keep you up and awake at night. Luckily the team at sleepadvisor.org have some great hacks to help you find your way back to sleepy town.

You are going to have to learn to bargain

4-things-new-travelers-should-know
Now, depending on where you’ve been brought up in the world you may already have this skill in abundance. For many people, especially those hailing from the US or Western Europe, bargaining is a strange and often scary practice. Well, that’s something you are going to have to get over very quickly, well at least if you want to pay anything remotely like a local price.
Treat it as a game. The more you do, the better you will get at it. The important thing is to always keep smiling. One useful rule of thumb is to mentally come up with your ‘best’ price in your head before you even begin to haggle, then no matter what your ‘opponent’ says, don’t spend over you prepared price. That way, you can’t feel ripped off.

You will never get the local price

Yep, even if you are a master of bargaining unless you speak the language fluently and you’ve stuck around in town for a long time. I’m talking months if not even years. You are simply not going to get the local price. Why? because you ain’t-a local, silly.
4-things-new-travelers-should-know
This particular lesson was taught to me after living in Hoi An in Vietnam for six months. I’d learned a little bit of the language, enough to bargain pretty well. When I went to the market I realized that it was just me that was getting overcharged, it was half of the Vietnamese as well.
A local friend explained that only Hoi An people got Hoi An prices. If you hailed from a town 15 minutes down the road, the prices were, of course, going to be different. And if you were from a big city like Hanoi, the prices were going to be different again.
Knowing this changed everything for me, no longer did I feel like I was getting penalized for being a foreigner. As long as everyone is being discriminated against then it didn’t feel as bad.

Final thoughts

It’s also important to remember when haggling that what’s a small amount of money for you, can mean a huge amount of money for the seller. The difference between eating tonight and not. Remember the mere fact you’re able to travel is a luxury, one the vast majority of the world’s population will never experience. Just something for you to think about.
Well, there you have it – my four things all first-time travelers should know. Now, please feel free to ignore everything I’ve said. The glorious thing about travel is that the more mistakes you make, the more you will learn. Just get out there and get stuck in. You’re gonna love it!

Jobs That Let You Travel The World

What could be better than constantly traveling while making money at the same time? As we all know, visiting places can be quite expensive and having a regular job does not allow you to be away for longer periods of time.

However, there’s a way to make everything work. There are plenty of jobs out there perfect for people who consider traveling their true life calling, whether it’s trading work for accommodation or accepting an independent job on the location.

Jobs that let you travel the world - https://twobudgettravelers.com
Depending on your skill set, there are several categories to choose from when seeking employment. Expat jobs, like an English teacher or a nanny, require you to work locally while living in a foreign country; digital nomads work from their computers, so it doesn’t really matter where they are; and vagabonds usually do whatever they can find, like construction or farm work.
So, here are a couple of suggestions for possible employment opportunities in every category and suitable for everyone’s taste. It’s not a complete list but can definitely give you a hint of what it’s like to be traveling while working.

Teach English abroad

Jobs that let you travel the world - https://twobudgettravelers.com
If you’re good at speaking English, you’re in luck. English teachers are in high demand all around the world. However, it isn’t enough just to speak the language. You’ll need a certified degree and a TEFL certification. There are plenty of online courses you can take in order to qualify for this position. Their pay is good and you’ll be able to truly immerse yourself in the culture by teaching the locals and learning from them in return.

Working on yachts, cruise ships

Jobs that let you travel the world - https://twobudgettravelers.com
Is there a more awesome way to see the world? Working on a yacht or a cruise ship allows you to see some exotic places you normally wouldn’t get a chance to. Also, you’ll be able to save money because food, accommodation, and other basic necessities are all covered. There are plenty of positions available, like a deckhand, stewardess, chef, tour manager, entertainment, engineer, so you’ll have no problem finding the one best suited for your qualifications.

Blogging

Jobs that let you travel the world - https://twobudgettravelers.com
Traveling and blogging about it is a dream come true; however, there’s so much more to it than just that. Creating a truly successful blog takes years and no small amount of hard work. So, before starting your grand adventure, make sure that you are on the right path by building an audience which will generate you an income from advertising, affiliate sales, books, influencer projects, etc. And it doesn’t have to be just a travel blog. Follow your passions and blog about food, fashion, lifestyle or anything else you think people will find interesting.

House-sitting

Jobs that let you travel the world - https://twobudgettravelers.com
Not really a standard type of employment, house-sitting is rather a way to save money while living abroad. Paying for accommodation can be quite expensive, especially when you’re traveling for longer periods of time, but luckily there’s a high demand for house sitters everywhere. This way, you can make money any way you like while living rent-free and having the privilege to get to know the locals, their habits, and culture. If you’re looking for that overall experience while traveling, this is the perfect job for you.

Flight attendant

Jobs that let you travel the world - https://twobudgettravelers.com
Flying from place to place, experiencing different cultures, having huge discounts on plane tickets all around the world, staying at luxury hotels while having your rent paid by the company is certainly something to think about when looking for a job. But don’t let all the perks fool you because flight attendants work really hard. Their schedule is rough, hours are long and it can get a bit lonely; however, nothing is perfect and if you want to travel the world in style, this is definitely the way to do it.

Web designer

The most common job from the digital nomad category is a web designer. Besides your basic equipment in the form of a computer, you’ll also need knowledge of certain software programs and online platforms, like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, WordPress, Illustrator, as well as some basics of coding languages, like HTML, PHP, and CSS. This is a well-paid position which guarantees a level of certainty when it comes to keeping a quality lifestyle during your travels. So, if you have a keen eye for design, invest in a couple of online tutorials and you’ll be well on your way.
In the end, the choice is yours. The opportunities are there, you just have to figure out what’s the best one for you. Working while traveling is not a fiction anymore and you can have the life you’ve always wanted, just be aware that it doesn’t come easy and overnight. All good things require hard work, so do yours and start “living the dream”.

Ethiopia

Africa is known not only for its wildlife but also for its warm weather and even more welcoming people calling you by your first name.

History buffs and culture lovers alike will certainly have a grand time moving through the country, what with its beautiful ancient stories and the architecture to go with it.

As the climate ers from 21 to 24C throughout the year, this is perfect for sightseeing just about all day every day, starting with the sleepy town of Lalibela.

Sightseeing

Touted as the New Jerusalem, this place is home to 11 monolithic churches carved entirely out of a single stone.

Not to be missed, of course, is no other than the equally marvelous volcanoes of Denakil Depression and the colored albeit scorching salt flats of the Erta Ale volcano in the same place.

Here, camels will take you on a trek across salt lands as you watch the sunrise wash over you.

With its varied range of natural beauty, visiting Ethiopia is certainly one for the books. From highlands to rainforests to delectable cuisine, this guarantees an experience like no other.

Puglia, Italy

For individuals who love the sun and the beach, look no further. Puglia gives Tuscany a run for its money not only with its coastal town but its gourmet offerings that truly embody traditional Italian ideals.

Its underrated tourism reportedly stems from its distance from other popular destinations in the country, such as the Amalfi Coast, Tuscany, and Venice.

It also doesn’t help that it has gained a reputation for being the poorer counterpart of the region.

Sightseeing

Despite its bad rap, it stands well on its own. While known for its picturesque beaches such as Gallipoli, Polignano a Mare, and Torre Canne during the warmer weather, people actually visit it throughout the year for its culinary treasure.

Just a note, one of those culinary treasures is orecchiette pasta. True to its up and coming gastronomic delights, this town is known for its slow food movement, with a bevy of courses being served to diners in attempts to highlight the simplest yet freshest ingredients.

Pair this with crisp wines while touring the wineries or even while strolling through olive oil factories in Italy.

Valparaiso, Chile

It’s no secret that Chile’s pride and joy is no other than renowned Chilean poet Pablo Neruda. Even Neruda himself was smitten with the country, specifically, the city of Valparaiso, has written an ode to it titled, “Oda a Valparaiso” – and rightly so.

While the country gets a reputation for its economic situation, as well as its hotspots and demonstrations, the country remains steadfast in its commitment to providing travelers with a safe journey in the nation.

Sightseeing

Valparaiso, in particular, is known for its colorful row of houses near the port. Apart from this, the second-largest city in Chile is also highly regarded for its equally vibrant street art and matching graffiti

One can even catch the 20 murals created between 1969 to 1973 at the Instituto de Arte or one of the ever-evolving murals and street art made by talented individuals.

Each of these creations weaves a masterful telling of San Miguel and its history.

For those who want a deeper probe into Neruda’s life, take a stroll down to La Sebastiana and walk through streets filled with life, bars, and everything in between. This area proves to be full of color, excitement, and adventure.

Learning How to Freedive with Azul Freediving

Swimming can be a challenging skill to learn but should always be a basic skill learned from early childhood. Learning how to swim revokes our fears from drowning and also enhances our senses while in the water. While there are many benefits from swimming, it will always be a good thing if you could use the skill to learn more about your capacity and limits and enhancing them to achieve your greater potential in the water world. azul freediving
Freediving is being in the water with a breath hold. Also known as ‘skin diving’ or ‘snorkeling’. On our workshop with Azul Freediving, we were trained by Valerie Faye Bautista and Aldric Vincent Suan who are both Certified Freediving Instructors at the Scuba Studio located in San Juan, Metro Manila.

I, personally, was already interested to do Freediving. I know how to swim, but diving with just a breathe hold is not my forte. I have done Discover Scuba Diving a while back but that is very different from freediving. It will require a lot of gears, unlike freediving where you only need your presence of mind and your confidence while being underwater. Jane, on the other hand, had swimming lessons at her university but I think, has always been a bit off about diving without some help.
We started off with the orientation about freediving, dos and donts, hand signals, breathing techniques, equalization, theories, etc. I recommend you attend the orientation training especially if it will be your first time to try freediving. The lessons will really help you communicate with your peers underwater and know what the proper breathing style before you dive and after you ascend back to the surface.

After the orientation, we transferred to the pool area and had our breathing exercises, static breathe hold, and rescue exercises. A while after is the start of the application of everything we have learned so far. When you think of going underwater, you might feel that it is terrifying. Many of which that comes to mind is the fear of getting drowned, losing air, etc. But that is wrong, once you get to see the beauty being underwater, you just might not want to go back to the surface. It will be scary, but all of our firsts tend to be a scary and at the same time exciting, right? Once you’ve done the first dive, you’d be screaming to want more.
On my first try, I went down 5 meters for a great start. I admit it wasn’t perfect but for a starter, it’s good. Just that, according to Val, my feet and head position needs improvement. So later on, I asked for a second attempt and a third, and I think it both went well. You won’t hear anything underwater so hand signals are your best option to communicate.
Here’s a short video of our workshop from Azul Freediving facebook page.

It will be scary and your fear might overthrow you but everything will be worth it when you got to do it, and believe me, you will do it even more. The trainers do well know what they teach, and also knows how to calm you down. You’ll see the passion and the love for what they do on how they teach, how they guide their students and how they are with one another. Being with a professional freediver is relieving. You know that you are safe and will be safe when you start with the practical exercises. It helps boost confidence as well when going underwater for a dive.
