From Esplanade Terminal, we boarded the Sun Cruises ferry at 7:30 am. The ferry was large enough to accommodate up to 280 passengers and it’s somehow similar to the boat when we went to Bintan, Indonesia from Singapore. There are two decks in the boat, the upper deck, and the lower deck. Of course, there are better views on the upper deck. I only explored the boat for a short time and since we didn’t have much sleep, I went back to my seat and took a nap. When I opened my eyes, we are almost near Corregidor Island.
Upon docking, we collected our bags and headed down to the island and took a welcome drink from the table where a crew was waiting. Also, I was quite surprised since I did not expect Corregidor Island to be a large island. I thought it was big enough but it was not, it’s a huge island, and there are a lot of trees and some wildlife in the area too!
After taking our drinks, we all went to our designated tram, the vehicle used in the island for transport, and started our Corregidor Historical Tour.
Corregidor Historical Tour
For the Corregidor Historical Tour, we went to the following places:
• Malinta Tunnel
The tunnel got its name from the word “linta” meaning “leech” in English. The area was previously flocking of leeches that’s why it’s called “Malinta”. Here, we went inside to see the lateral connections of each tunnel and how it functioned as a base camp for the Filipino and American soldiers during World War II.
Later on, we also went back here for the Malinta Tunnel Lights and Sounds Show featuring what happened during the war.
• Japanese Memorial Garden
A place where some of the Japanese soldiers were buried. My friend, Tina, didn’t like the place as she sensed some bad vibes in the area. It’s also where a souvenir shop is located. You can take a quick picture here as it spots one of the iconic statues in the area.
• Kindley Airfield
We only went here to see how the airfield looks like. Only small planes can land in Kindly Airfield.
• Filipino Heroes Memorial
A landmark which honors the courage of Filipinos who fought for sovereignty. It houses a museum on one part of its end and holds old photographs of the late President Manuel L. Quezon, a miniature structure of Corregidor Island, and a few portraits and photographs during the World War II.
This landmark also honors the Filipino Women who fought side by side with the soldiers.
• Pacific War Memorial Museum
It holds remnants and pieces of important belongings and events happened in Corregidor Island during World War II. There are areas dedicated to the letters of American soldiers to their families, one was for the weapons used during the war, and a few other more. Veteran American soldiers sometimes are also visiting the Pacific War Memorial Museum and look into the photographs when they were still young, reminiscing the memories of the old island.
After the museum, we’re headed down for lunch. Our next tour will proceed at 5pm.
Where to Stay in Corregidor
After our exciting tours, it was time to take a rest. So after having our buffet lunch, we stayed at the Corregidor Inn (also known as the Corregidor Inn or Corregidor Resort).
Corregidor Inn has 31 rooms nestled in the lush greens area in the center of the island of Corregidor. It’s the best hotel on the island as it is the only one there. There are three types of room, a single room, twin room, and a family room. Jane and I stayed in a Twin Room.
Before you went up to the hotel or the restaurant, you will find these beautifully blooming flowers called bougainvilla, and a good spot for a flowery photo.
The Twin Room
The Twin Room has two beds, a table with the coffee and tea amenities, air conditioning, and a hot and cold shower. It’s not a big room but just enough for a maximum of people to sleep. There’s also plenty of sunlight when you open the curtain, so keep it closed during the day, but it has great views of the ocean area.
The aesthetic in the room was really nice and really homey. The most notable thing I noticed is the high ceiling that makes the place cooler than it should. I’m just really amazed at that.
Since Jane and I didn’t have enough sleep the last night, we went to sleep after a short while and put on an alarm at 3:30 pm since the next tour will be at 4 pm for the Sunset and Night Lateral Tour.
Battery Hearn and Battery Way
These batteries are named after higher rank officials, hence, Hearn and Way. These are the cannon areas that have been used in the war.
Battery Way has 4 cannons, two in an upright position and another two in a passive position.
Battery Hearn is known to be the largest cannon in the island. There’s even a spare cannon barrel at its side. You will also see how big a cannon’s bullet is!
Sunset, Hospital and Night Lateral Tour
Before sunset came, we went first to the Hospital to see it personally. Of course, we would know that the hospital could be the creepiest place to be in Corregidor as many soldiers and even health attendants died in it. Even our friend, who can feel the negativities, could feel that the place is somewhat eerie.
Being at the ruined hospital gives you chills. If you are looking for ghostly presence, the hospital might be a good place to see. If you don’t want anything creepy, then go to the hospital at mid-day so you can explore more of the place.
After touring and taking pictures at the hospital, we then went to Battery Grubbs to see the sunset. Battery Grubbs is also a base for the cannons and also a primary spot for defense if there are enemies roaming around the west area of the island. This is the best spot for seeing the sunset and you can take pictures or camera tricks as the sunset usually tends to be a dramatic one.
When the sun has already set, it was time for the Night Lateral Tour and the most interesting one. In the Night Lateral Tour, a different experience awaits.
Night Lateral Tour
Our team went to Malinta Tunnel by the evening after the sunset to take a look and experience what it’s like to be inside a no-light tunnel. Yes, we went inside the tunnels in the dark. If you do have phobias in the darkness, you better stay at the tram. If you are quite a curious one, you should definitely see how the Night Lateral Tour goes.
We went inside one of the laterals in the tunnel and we were really surprised at how big the tunnel was. It’s like a maze if you don’t know the place to go. The feeling was also quite eerie but manageable. Our tour guide definitely knows every corner of the tunnel. There was even a bone remain laying on the ground and he said that it was a legit bone.
To further experience the darkness and how it felt like being in the tunnel, we switched off our lights and were in silence for one (1) whole minute. It was one of the activities you will do once inside. Now, if you are to do this activity, I highly suggest that you keep your fears out of your head or think of happy thoughts while silence occurs. When you draw negativity, the negative energies are then going to be bound to you which makes your thoughts even go wilder.
We also went to the nurses’ area (nurses’ tunnel) where it smells like there’s still some medicine left in the field. It reeks of alcohol and mixed medicine smell. Weird, but it’s the reality there. Near this area is where we did the same activity with total darkness and silence, but this time, we’ll be walking straight towards the nearby exit. The experience was creepier as that part of the tunnel was believed to be the laying grounds of the soldiers when they are being attended by the health attendants.
It was an actual relief when every activity was finished and we all went back to exit the tunnel. The Night Lateral Experience was really one of the best tours I experienced in Corregidor. If you have a curious mind, you definitely should try this tour as it is full of excitement and new discoveries.
We all went back to Corregidor Inn after the Night Lateral Tour and had our dinner with a boodle fight setup. Our friends also had their videoke session after eating while I continued to work with my articles. We also need to wake up early to catch the sunrise.
Sunrise Tour and Tunnel/Bunker Tour
The sunrise tour is an optional tour but you can also add it to your experience. We needed to wake up early to catch the sunrise. The sunrise can be best seen near the Pacific War National Museum.
After catching the sunrise, we also went to another tunnel with a short trek, just near where we catch the sunrise. It was a small tunnel, maybe around 40 meters long. Unlike the Malinta Tunnel, this one is totally different. It’s like a base to hide from the enemies or hidden storage. The tour to the tunnel was short but was fun. We went back to the Corregidor Inn to take our breakfast and prepare for check-out.
Corregidor Island Lighthouse
Corregidor Island Lighthouse is also one of the attractions you wouldn’t wanna miss. We took our lunch at a restaurant located near the lighthouse.
You could opt to dine in an open area but fancy hall or go to the side garden where tables are waiting for you to eat al fresco style. The lighthouse, however, was closed for visitors and people are not allowed to go inside or climb up.
In this area, you will also find souvenir shops where you can buy an item you can take home to remember your visit to Corregidor.
Corregidor Island tour is definitely a must-do when you visit and having an overnight experience at the island could get you more curious about the history of the Philippines and how the war took place on the island.

Makati Central Square is one of Makati City’s oldest malls. Formerly known as Makati Cinema Square and was owned by the Rufinos.
According to MCS officials, the mall showed its face to the world back in April 1982. The main aim of creating this scenic and aesthetic place was the revolution, they wanted to have a place of their own. A place where they could watch films and movies. They did not have cinema halls of their own back then. Cinema halls were mainly found in Makati CBD and other places which led to the birth of Makati Cinema Square.
The original idea was to build cinema halls but with time, the ideas changed and the people responsible wanted to make the place livelier. So, they added “toppings” to the project and built restaurants, shops, bars and sports centers such as bowling and billiard centers.
Makati Central Square is a beautiful and peaceful place to make friends, reunite with family, dine, and shop.
Recently, the place had undergone renovation aimed at making the customers more satisfied with the services. They have catered new restaurants, hobby places, and fantastic shops. The Underground Gallery is also a new addition to Makati Central Square.
There is a lot to do in Makati City Square but these are the activities you shouldn’t miss out:
Underground Gallery Makati Central Square
This is the among the latest developments in Makati Central Square. If you are an art lover, you would want to check on works of art by famous artists during exhibits. You might also have a hands-on experience with the local’s generosity by getting access to free finger food and a beer or two. This place is located at the second level of the mall.
Akitaya Japanese Restaurant
If you are looking for a place to dine and have an awesome time with your family or partner, then the recently opened Akitaya Japanese restaurant is the place to be. There is a variety of foods to choose from, but I would suggest you try Kiritanpo Nabe. Kiritanpo Nabe is comprised of Japanese local ingredients such as Shirataki (Japanese noodle), Maitake, Enoki (Golden mushroom), Shitake (Japanese mushroom), miso, and Negi (chicken leeks). The ingredients are then boiled in a sophisticated manner to produce a mouth-watering delicacy. Makati Central Square.
Makati Square Arena
The place is an open area step away from a little tiangge. The place offers Muay Thai, kickboxing, arnis, and mixed martial arts (MMA) classes both for groups and individuals. It even caters to the busy Makati worker by offering walk-in training for only ₱500, and brief workouts called Fitness Blast, a 45-minute workout for ₱300. If you want to develop your skill, then this is a place you would want to visit.
Armscor Shooting Center
If you have always wanted or wished to learn how to shoot or develop your shooting skills, then you should visit this place. They have what it all needs to provide the best services including experienced instructors and state-of-the-art equipment. Makati Central Square.
Kodanda Archery Range
An indoor archery range built for newbies, amateurs, and professionals who want to have and a little thrill. The word Kodanda is a Hindu Sanskrit word for “He who has a Bow”. It was inspired by Hindu mythology that tells the legend of The Great Rama who has a bow named Kodanda. If you want to have some fun with friends and colleagues after work, you should visit the Kodanda Archery Range.
Arnesto (Mang Andy) Swiss Watch Repair
Well, I know what you are thinking, what has watch repairing have to do with fun? Well, the fun part is that this is the place to go to when that pricey watch starts to clunk out. Some watches are too special to risk losing them. The place has been repairing watches since 2000 which makes it more interesting. The place also sells very beautiful and expensive watches. Makati Central Square.
Now you know what to expect during your next stop at the ‘new’ Makati Central Square but there still are a lot more to see. Make time, head to the new Makati Central Square and check the latest in store for you!
Do you have olden memories at Makati Cinema Square, now Makati Central Square?
Munching on something in between meals doesn’t have to be bad for you as long as your reach for healthy snacks. If you notice, staying idle or boredom sometimes tends to exacerbate (bad) snacking habits, which can lead not only to an unhealthy lifestyle, but also a wealth of health problems.
Thankfully, there are a number of healthy snacks you can eat. Whether you are working from home and need something salty to get you out of that midday slump or simply have long weeks where you want something sweet, there are snacks to cater to your every need.
While “healthy snacks” might not be the most appealing to you and your kids, you might be surprised at how delicious and accessible they actually are. Below is a list of snacks that are not only healthy, but also delectable – perfect for kids and kids at heart. Take a look.
Healthy Snacks the Whole Family Will Love
Yogurt
Yogurt is a great snack food for kids and adults alike because it’s a rich source of protein and calcium. As you might know, calcium is essential for kids’ bones and their overall physical development.
This probiotic food also contains live bacteria which help the digestive system to ease the effects of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and improve gut health. The great thing about yogurt is that it already comes in a variety of flavors, making it appealing for the whole family.
While it’s good on its own and can be jazzed up with fresh fruit or honey, you can also add granola and other toppings. However, for a fun and refreshing treat on a hot day, you can easily pour yogurt into molds and pop them in the freezer for some yogurt popsicles. Yum.
Popcorn
Popcorn often gets a bad reputation, particularly when it is lumped with other unhealthy food such as potato chips. While this may be considered by many individuals as a type of junk food, popcorn is actually a healthy and nutritious whole grain. It has vitamins B1, B3, B6, iron, zinc, and magnesium.
Nutritiously, popcorn can be pretty healthy and safe provided you pop your own popcorn in your home or purchase similar alternatives, eating this snack in moderation is fine. This can be dressed up (or down) depending on your liking, such as adding some butter, grated Parmesan cheese, and even some truffle oil.
Fruits and Vegetables
If you want to go the truly healthy way, what better way to start than by eating your fruits and veggies, right? Introduce these types of food to your children and the whole family so they can start appreciating the fresh, fruity, and sweet taste that these products give.
Apples and pears are good to eat on their own, but you can also pair these with some nut butters like almond butter or peanut butter.
For picnics or even a hot afternoon, a light and refreshing veggie sticks such as carrot and celery will do the trick. Just make sure to serve these with some dips on the side or even put some peanut butter and raisins on chocolate chips on celery sticks for some good old ants on a log creation.
Cheese and Crackers
Think cheese and crackers are just for adults? Think again. You can include the whole family when you make a cheese platter, especially with kid- and family-friendly cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, and Havarti will work, too. Even string cheese is a good option.
Serve this with some fun-shaped crackers such as Teddy Grahams and maybe some apple juice and you’re good to go.
Nuts, Trail Mix, and Granola Bars
Nuts, trail mix, and granola bars are filled with healthy fats and essential fiber. These are great for the whole family not just because it’s healthy, but also because it also packs in a lot of flavor. It’s good to eat on its own, but even better when topped on yogurt.
Bear in mind that these are suitable options to serve provided your child or another family member is not allergic to nuts. There are numerous options to choose from including those that contain bits of chocolate.
The Bottom Line
With these healthy snacks to choose from, you can finally say goodbye to junk food and say hello to better choices. Try these tips and food ideas for a smart snacking and you will certainly toss all your bad food choices down the drain.
Traveling is, undeniably, one of the most beautiful and longing activities you do. But, ultimately, you have to come back to settle down in your home town, even if you can travel all around the world.
This is a pain-giving and thoroughly worth searching must-do process before you decide to buy your house. Don’t you think it is a big decision to buy a house? No doubt, it’s big; because you have to consider certain things while buying a house for yourself. Photo by Jovan Vasiljević on Unsplash
Right Time
Generally, time channelizes and decides almost every task of ours; still, you have to look into the right time for buying a house. For instance, if it is a time of high demand for real estate, you should halt for the time when its supply rises. Your financial condition is another factor which you should deliberate, for it would be the right time to buy a house if you are money-wise sound.
Features of Your Choice
While making an offer, you as a buyer should consider certain qualities of your choice which a house has. You will be required to consider what you are looking for because each buyer has his/her taste and choice.
The following enlisted features of a house are common to consider before deciding to make an offer.
Age of the building
Photo by Scott Webb on Unsplash
In my perspective, renovation is equal to half or at least one-third of building a new house. If you buy a two-decades-old house, its cost will rise with the makeover. So it will be wise to choose a new house with your desired features.
Size and structure
Photo by Blake Wheeler on Unsplash
You must consider the house’s size and structure before buying it because it will impact various aspects of the uses of a house. Your privacy depends on the shape of the house.
Location and neighborhood
Location is one of the most considered factors of a house before its purchasing. The houses with easy access to the workplace and markets are preferred.
Maintainance, Mortgage, & Purchasing Price
Your decision of whether to buy a house or not is triggered by its price. You will no doubt come up with the budget that suits you. Estimating mortgage affordability based on income will help you determine the one that fits your budget. Photo by Phil Hearing on Unsplash
You should not forget that the cost of maintenance is included in your budget as well. Its age and condition will impact the wear tear cost and hence your budget to purchase the house.
Incentives
Look for such a house seller who rushes for its sale. He must require finance collection and so will offer incentives while buying his house.
Bedrooms, Kitchen, and Bathrooms
The number of both bedrooms and bathrooms varies from house to house depending on the size of the family. If you have a large family or you are planning to expand your family in the future, you must consider the required number of bedrooms and bathrooms in the house you are willing to buy. Photo by Ralph (Ravi) Kayden on Unsplash
The choice of kitchen layout depends on the time you or your spouse spends in the kitchen. The more time you spend in the kitchen, the more space for your kitchen is required.
Water availability and sanitation
Water is one of the most needed facilities in any house. Besides clean and sweet drinking water, you need it for certain other things like laundry, cooking, and garden. Parallel to its availability, the sanitary condition of the house matters a lot. If water gathers in your ground or in front of your gate in the rainy season, it will devalue your property.
Summing up
Don’t rush to buy a house even if you are ready to buy it. First, do thorough research considering all the qualities of your choice. Look into market situation and demand and supply conditions before buying a house. Traveling is a great thing, but owning a home, is one of the greatest things a traveler could experience.

Natural history displays explain coral structures and other geological features of the island. A children’s gallery takes youngsters back in time to learn how local youth lived. Artifacts include historic maps and lavish furnishings from a local plantation house.
Visit the Sugar Museum
For hundreds of years, plantation grew sugar can and processed the product often referred to as white gold. Back in the day, the majority of work was accomplished using manual labor. Today, the mechanized industry includes 1,500 farms that produce approximately 60,000 tons of sugar each year. The museum lies on the property of the Portvale Sugar Factory. The collection of items and early machinery explain the sugar cane cultivation and sugar production process. When the factory is open from February to May, guests have the chance to see the evolution of the process.
Mad Monkey Hostel has always been on top of our list when we are heading to places they also are located. Like in Boracay, where Mad Monkey Hostel Boracay is situated, we stayed for countless nights and more than twice. In Cebu, we stayed for a night at Mad Monkey Hostel Cebu City.
Mad Monkey Hostel Cebu City
Unlike their other properties in the Philippines, Mad Monkey Hostel Cebu City is not located near a beach, but in the heart of the city. But similar to other properties, a rooftop bar or poolside bar will never be out of their amenities and it is mostly what people are looking forward to especially during the scape of the night.
Primarily built for travelers and backpackers, Mad Monkey Hostel Cebu City is never short of things to offer for tourists, locals, and guests.
Check-in Process and Room Observation
When you have already booked online, the check-in process was rather easy. If you are a foreigner, you just need to present your passport and pay the required room key deposit, and you are off to your bed. If you are a local traveling from somewhere in the Philippines, just present your ID and the next thing is you walking to your own room.
You’d surely first notice the mural paintings when you walk by the stairs which adds accent to the overall aesthetics of the hostel.
As for our room, Jane and me had the Superior Twin, two beds for both of us. See our room photos below. This has two single beds, luggage storage, huge mirror, hot and cold shower, is fully air-conditioned and has basic amenities for travelers. The room is rather simple with quite a minimalistic approach which makes it clean and comfy. WiFi will never be out of their facilities because Mad Monkey Hostels are also designed for digital nomads, and alike.
Soundproofing wasn’t bad, but when you are inside the room, you’re going to hear some footsteps or voices talking when other guests are passing by. This was never a problem because we booked a hostel (not a 5* hotel) and in hostels, noises are quite normal.
We kind of checked-in late because we came from Bantayan Island before the day of our stay at Mad Monkey Hostel in Cebu City. During the night, we met up with a distant friend who once lived in Manila but now is residing in Cebu City.
After having dinner and drinks at Sugbo Mercado, we decided to continue our night at Mad Monkey Hostel’s Rooftop Bar, a place where most of the tourists (and some locals looking for some fun) hang-out during the night.
Rooftop Restaurant / Poolside Bar
One of the known signatures of Mad Monkey Hostels is having the poolside bar or rooftop bar in each of their locations. During the day, you wouldn’t even think that the bar is full of engaging and energetic people at night.
Here’s what the Rooftop Bar or Poolside Bar looks like during the day. It’s really chill and relaxing seeing the view from above, away from the horns and honks of the nearby road. If you are not keen on touring Cebu, you could stay here the whole day.
The food served at the restaurant are also fresh and priced quite well. One meal and you are good to go as the serving tends to be generous. Here’s what we had for breakfast.
Here’s what it looks like during the night and when the party is starting to happen. Gradually, people and flocks of them are going in one by one, making the bartenders and bar servers really busy.
The rooftop bar is also a great place to drink and hang-out with whoever you’d like to interact with. Some even find love (or company) here starting out with a few drinks to making out at the pool (yes, it happens, and it’s normal when you go to hostels with bar facilities). Just read the room reminders so you won’t get apprehended when you violated their terms.
Drinks at the poolside bar are also reasonably priced, and payment comes first before you get your drink. Same as when you order your meal, there is no room charge. PS: Jane and I are not that hype for a party but we always make time and always get to enjoy parties held at Mad Monkey Hostels! It’s totally different!
Sinulog Slam
If Mad Monkey Hostel Boracay has Boracay Bomb, Mad Monkey Hostel Cebu City has Sinulog Slam! Sinulog Slam is Mad Monkey Hostel Cebu City’s signature drink. I remember it as one of the best drinks I had because of the ingredients it has. It was sweet, creamy and of course, with a whole taste of liquor. It’s for you to find out but all I can say is “YOU DEFINITELY SHOULD TRY IT.”
Your first slam won’t be the last for sure but as you drink more of this Sinulog Slam, you’d get the taste of this demonic signature drink. The people I spoke with mentioned that most probably on your third slam, you’d get the full effects of the drink. What is it? It’s for you to find out.
Socially Responsible Mad Monkey Hostels
One good thing about staying at Mad Monkey Hostels is that they give or provide a fraction of their income to help with the communities in any way possible they could help. Every booking, every meal or drinks you buy at the restaurant and bar serves a good deed for you and the company. The fund will be used in providing health care and wellness, education for the children, help to the community, and a few others more.
When you book and stay with Mad Monkey Hostels, you also get to give.
Our stay at Mad Monkey Hostel Cebu City was definitely one of the many experiences we will surely remember.
You can book a room directly from their site or via booking sites like Booking.com. You may check the available rooms and rates here.

Perhaps, one of the best examples we can cite to explain this connection further is the “fight, flight, or freeze response.” As you might have learned in school, our bodies have a survival type of response, called the “fight, flight or freeze response.”
Specifically, when we perceive a looming threat, our brains turn into survival mode and releases stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. This explains why we immediately fight back, run, or hide, when a wild animal attacks us or when we see an approaching car in our direction.
Another possible example to the mind-body connection is how we react to physical injuries. When we are injured, we feel physical and emotional pain as well.
Often, psychologists use the mind-body connection to evaluate the condition of their patients. By helping people become aware of their mind-body connection, this will help them improve both their emotional and physical well-being.
Mind Body Connection Tips – How Improve and Maintain the Balance?
Generally, there are various ways to improve one’s mind body connection. Such efforts commonly include support groups, individual psychotherapy, hypnosis, and even meditation techniques.
Here, to help you boost your mind body connection, we have listed a few methods that you can use while still stuck in quarantine.
Take a Break
Even with the world in lockdown, jobs are still being maintained at home and day-to-day tasks are still being followed. With this arrangement, it’s easy to find yourself burned out and feeling drained.
To avoid such occurrences, it’s best to take active breaks from your work or day-to-day tasks to give your brain and body a chance to “breath” and reboot.
There’s a Lot More to Posture
Believe it or not, posture and wellness are deeply connected. In fact, maintaining good posture not only help minimize back pain and pelvic floor tension, but it also helps in improving your overall mood.
Essentially, this is because efficient posture allows you to breathe through your diaphragm, which leads to better blood circulation. As a result, this helps boost your energy and improve your overall mood.
Find Hobbies to Release Emotional Toxins
Often, without the right avenue to destress and meditate, negative emotions like fear, sadness, disappointment, and anger tend to pile up deep within us. In the long-term, these feelings will become heavier and contribute to the toxicity in our lives.
By getting a hobby, such as engaging in sports or arts, this will provide us an avenue to release our emotional baggage.
A Laugh a Day Keeps the Doctor Away
Ever heard of the phrase, “laughter is the best medicine”? Well, laughter is also the best vitamin! Generally, laughter helps minimize the production of stress hormones in the body and contributes to the improvement of our immune system.
With this, enjoying a good belly-laugh at least once a day can help you become more aware of your mind-body connection.
The Bottom Line
Is the pandemic starting to make your feel more stressed out lately? Improve your mind body wellness by practicing these tips discussed above. To know more, don’t hesitate to visit your psychologist and ask about mind-body therapies today!
Traveling during a pandemic is not only risky, but also expensive. However, the world’s slowly getting back to normal as more countries open up for tourism. If traveling is necessary for business or leisure, there are ways to fly safely without contracting the flu virus.
Sanitizing is a huge factor to keep out of bacteria and viruses when traveling. Wearing protective gear, like masks, personal protective equipment, PPE, and face shields are recommended to block droplets.
Here’s everything you need to know about pandemic travel. With potentially deadly encounters on the plane, airports, and other public places, you want to stay protected. Get to know some tips and practices for traveling by reading on.
Before the Trip
A few weeks or days before the trip, you should strengthen your immune system by getting enough sleep, taking supplements and multivitamins, and consuming nutritious foods. If possible, consume fruits and vegetables before going to the airport.
Also, pack disinfecting alcohol and sanitizer in your carry-on bag. Disinfecting wipes are also a must for cleaning while traveling. A light shawl or coat also helps to prevent exposure when going out.
If you can, equip yourself with PPE, although this is very uncomfortable. For people who are wearing prescription glasses, make sure to moisturize the eyes by bringing eye drops.
Avoid wearing contact lenses as these dry out the eyes that lead to microbial invaders. If you prefer wearing contact lenses, just make sure to apply eye drops every two to three hours.
During the Trip
On the day of the trip, never skip your multivitamins, and make sure to eat healthily. Bring healthy snacks that you can eat while flying or waiting at the airport.
Of course, ensure that you practice hand hygiene to avoid contracting bacteria from surfaces, and public places. The best protocol to follow is to avoid close contact and stay at least 2 meters away from other people.
Social distancing limits the spread of the virus, especially in confined spaces. Fewer people may be seen at the airport, but be sure not to stand too close at the counter.
Before sitting in a chair, or putting down your bag to a surface, make sure to sanitize with alcohol or disinfecting wipes. This will clear out bacteria and germs lingering in the waiting areas, chairs, tables, and counters.
Tips for Your Trip
It’s also best to point the overhead air vent down to your face to divert droplets away from your eyes, nose, and mouth. If the nose feels dryer than usual, opt to use a nasal spray. This will keep the mucus membrane moist while increasing the ability to fight infectious microbes.
Moreover, avoid placing your hands on your face, especially near the nose, eyes, and mouth. Whatever you hold or touch, apply alcohol immediately to get rid of the bacteria. If possible, you can wash your hands with mild soap.
Also, wear shoes and don’t expose your feet when traveling. The use of socks is recommended to avoid getting a fungal infection and transmitting germs.
Finally, if you are sneezing, yawning, or coughing, make sure to cover your mouth with one of your arms to prevent the spread of germs. You may feel it’s okay to yawn, but doing this exposes other people to potential bacteria coming from you.
After the Trip
When reaching the destination, it’s important to shower, sanitize bags, and other items, then change into new clothes. If possible, use disinfecting wipes to all surfaces that you’ve touched, including your mobile phone, wallet, keys, passport, and other items.
It would also help to gargle with warm salt water and take a long rest. If you’re staying for months in a different location, stay indoors, wear a mask, and quarantine for at least 10 to 14 days.
If symptoms like fever, coughing, sore throat, and body pain appear, consult a doctor immediately.
Conclusion
It takes a lot of work to be safe when traveling during the time of the pandemic. Following protocols and other regulations are important to not contract the deadly bacteria and avoid spreading it. Follow the tips mentioned to be safe while traveling, and to come home safe and sound.
“When you look into your mother’s eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth.”
– Mitch Albom
We often neglect our parents when we are traveling, intentional or not. Our parents were the first people on earth to give us love and to bring us joy. They are the witness of your first cry, first laugh, first word, and first of everything. From the moment we were born, they have been on our side, day and night.
When we were younger, our parents would bring us to almost anywhere we would like. While we become older, we often neglect our parents as we always would want to travel alone or with the company of others. We might think that they have already experienced what we are currently experiencing especially in the aspect of travel but little did we know, they still would like to experience new things, just like us. They might have become older but that doesn’t mean they don’t need to be treated at least once in a while.
Staycation at Nobu Hotel Manila
On my mom’s 49th birthday celebration, I brought her to a fancy hotel in Pasay, the Nobu Hotel Manila. I want her to experience a fancy hotel staycation she never had before. My gift to her was this experience. Nobu Hotel Manila is a luxury hotel in Pasay City, Metro Manila. It’s also within City of Dreams and next to Hyatt Hotel. It’s only a few kilometers away from the airport and the location is near central establishments. If you want to shop non-stop, visit Baclaran and I’m sure you will definitely be having a great time shopping for goods and apparels. If you’d like to go to a mall, SM Mall of Asia is only a hundred meters away.
Check-in and Check-out Experience
Check-in was a breeze even though there was a line for it as there were many other people checking-in. The front desk officers were courteous and attentive to details. They will also ask you if there are any occasions being celebrated during your stay. Note though that they need P5000.00 refundable security deposit. After a short while, our room key cards were given and we were escorted to the proper elevator wing for our room.
Check-out was even faster. We only waited for like five minutes (because there were other people checking out). The front desk officer only asked if we took any food in the fridge or the mini-bar (which we didn’t do). Afterward, my security deposit was given back to me. Room Experience
We had the deluxe room with two queen-sized beds located on the fourth floor. We are actually supposed to be in the Nobu Executive room but since there were three of us (I have my youngest brother with us), I opted to stay in a room with two beds.
The Nobu Deluxe room has the following:
Room Highlights
Panoramic views of the city and City of Dreams pools
King or Double Queen beds
Exclusive Natura Bisse bath amenities
Selection of Ikaati Premium Tea
Room Features
36 sqm or 387 sqft
Fully stocked Mini-Bar
Guestroom safe
Iron and ironing board
47” LED IPTV with Video-On-Demand
Complimentary Wireless and Lan Internet
JBL Docking Stations
While checked-in, we also have the access to the pool area, Nobu Fitness Room, and Nobu Spa. Our room also includes buffet breakfast in the next morning at Nobu Restaurant. Dinner and lunch are of our own account.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. We are not expecting anyone so it’s quite a surprise. When we opened the door, a staff was holding a little decadent cake. It was their birthday present for my mom and I think they do this if you have any occasions being celebrated while checked-in. It’s a plus!
Amenities Experience
Pool Area
The pool at the Nobu Hotel is one thing that my mom and my youngest brother are looking forward to. Even though my brother isn’t good at swimming, he loves being in the water. The pool is only 5 feet deep and there are lifeguards around, every time.
Mind you that they are quite strict with their pool rules especially the swimwear. My mom wasn’t able to go all out in the water because she doesn’t have a rash guard and or a proper swimwear. She was allowed only on the pool staircase to look after my little brother. And of course, for my brother to enjoy more, I joined him in the pool and swam with him.
Nobu Spa
We also had the chance to experience a Full Body Massage at the Nobu Spa. So after we went swimming, we washed and headed straight to Nobu Spa. The spa is located just in front of the pool area.
I was actually worried about my little brother if the massage session starts. Well, apparently, while we were being massaged, he just laid down and eventually slept on the sofa. He might be tired from swimming for hours.
The massage, by the way, was very soothing. We had to remove all our garments and have to change in their prescribed undergarments. But before that, on the Nobu Spa waiting area, we were given fruits and drinks (orange and apples + a shot of pineapple shake). We were also asked to sign a customer/disclaimer form with another paper asking for focus points for the massage.
It was a good one hour of soothing massage for me and my mom, and it was my very first time trying out a full body massage at a spa. I’d do it again for sure. The staffs were all awesome and polite as well. Kudos to you, guys!
Buffet Breakfast at Nobu Restaurant
Included in our room was a buffet breakfast for two at the Nobu Restaurant. Since my brother is only 5 years old, he’s free of charge. Children 6 to 12 years old are charged 50% of the original price.
Nobu Restaurant is world’s most recognized Japanese restaurant as it is known for their innovative cuisines and celebrity following. Nobu Restaurant offers unique modern Japanese dishes fused with Peruvian influences.
With different offerings ranging from a different serving of pastries, main course dishes, appetizers, and desserts. We had a sumptuous breakfast that morning and we were all full. If you happen to visit City of Dreams, you surely have to try their signature dishes. It looked like everything was special.
My mom was truly delighted about this treat she had. I can see the joy in her eyes and face and I know then and there that I did something right to make her happy.
Nobu Hotel is a perfect place to stay if you’d like luxury near the airport and city establishments. you can stay here after having your casino sessions. This is also a great place to bring your girlfriend or wife to celebrate anniversaries or just stay for a night or two. Check Rates | Book Now!Check Rates | Book Now! Nobu Restaurant
