Mio Gelati: A Gelato Favorite in Century Mall

Mio Gelati has been with us in the guise of a food truck or a pop-up booth. But now, they are changing their game.

Mio Gelati-3

We can now enjoy Mio Gelati’s creamier and smoother gelatos anytime we want, anytime we like!  They have recently opened up a Mio Gelati kiosk located on the ground floor of Century Mall in Makati.

Why should you prefer gelatos over regular ice creams? What’s the difference?

There are a number of factors involving the differences of gelatos and regular ice cream. Ice cream is mostly water and once the water freezes, it forms hard and crunchy ice crystals. It has more air in it which makes the ice cream easier to scoop and less dense, plus it has more fat because it uses more cream. But flavors, of course, are still in the name.

Meanwhile, gelatos have less fat and less air which makes it healthier, smoother, and creamier. It uses more milk than cream which clearly has lesser fat. It is denser and you can taste the burst of flavors in every lick or bite.

Why Mio Gelati?

Compared to other gelatos in the market, we find Mio Gelati’s to be more flavorful, tastier, and smoother. The Blueberry cheesecake flavor tastes like the real ones. They totally nailed the flavor! What I loved the most was the Black Chocolate with its dark and rich flavor, your taste buds will surely flow with delight.

Mio Gelati-5 - https://twobudgettravelers.com

Other great Mio Gelati flavors are the Green Tea KitKat, Mint Chocolate Chips, Mango Cream Pie, Salted Caramel (second best for me!), Cookie Butter, and Pistachio. Jane loved the Avocado Milk and Willy Wonka flavors.

As mentioned, they now have a fixed kiosk at Century Mall’s ground floor which makes it easier for us to taste their heavenly gelatos. PS: They don’t have the alcoholic flavors yet!

Mio Gelati is available in cups and cones at affordable prices.

What’s your favorite flavor? Send me a message or comment below and I might treat you a Mio Gelati gelato!

The oil stone needs to be lubricated first to reduce the friction, and this helps you in the ease of movement while sharpening the knives. You can get oil stones in a different variety of grit sizes and materials, and they are available in both natural and synthetic forms. Why Are Today’s Teens Are More Depressed Than Ever?

We often notice people around us who are not fully happy with their lives. It is alright to aspire for more, but it should not affect you mentally. Teenagers nowadays are not satisfied with their lives as they tend to compare themselves a lot. What is the main cause of depression among the youth?
Many people have different reasons to be depressed. With the rise in social media, every person aspires to have an Instagram worthy life. However, half of the things we see on social media are not even real.
We tend to display the best parts of our lives on social media which is depressing for some people.

Photo by Anthony Tran on Unsplash

Teenagers have a lot of pressure on their mind that they endure in silence. The lack of awareness is one of the most significant issues that we need to fix. When a child is growing up, they go through a lot of emotions that they are afraid to communicate with their parents. However, parents must understand their children and build an effective relationship. Communication is one of the most vital things to help teens cope with depression and anxiety.
Why do teens experience depression and anxiety more? The rate of depression is higher in people aged between 15 to 24 years. There can be a variety of reasons as to why the rate is high. However, we have so many expectations from life when we are young. We believe that everything will pan out the way we want, which does not happen at all. Teachers or parents must give their children pep talks about life and challenges.
Life is not as easy as it seems, and there is so much to life than fantasy. Hence, it is essential to understand the things that make you succeed in life.

Why are teens more depressed?

Who is more likely to get depression? Well, a person’s mentally stability determines whether or not they will get depression. We all have certain events in our lives that make us emotionally vulnerable. However, we have no choice but to bounce back quickly. Some people can get stuck in past events for a long and have a hard time to cope. On the other hand, it is essential to acknowledge that you need help and take action to feel better.

1.     Social media

Photo by Adrian Swancar on Unsplash

Is there an increase in teenage depression? There is a spike in adolescent depression due to social media mainly. Social media was not as vast a decade ago, but it has gained popularity now. There are a lot of people on social media that post about their luxurious lives. While it is entertaining to watch such content, it can take a toll on your mind as well. You start to compare yourself with unrealistic things people have and want them for yourself. It is healthy to bring inspiration, but it is not right to feel bad about yourself.
Everything comes with a price, and social media tends to make you feel sad sometimes. There are a lot of people online that post about their journeys. However, we tend to ignore the positives and let the wrong side of social media take over us.

2.     Education

Some parents are tough on their children when it comes to academics. Every parent wants the best for their child, and they think only education can make them successful. While this fact may be true, there is a love of things that can make you successful. A parent must guide their children to be hardworking and passionate. However, most of them are obsessed with good grades and valuable education. Such pressure can cause a child to get depressed and anxious. Gentle parenting is imperative as it has many positive impacts on the personality of a child.

3.     Negative thoughts

A highly optimistic person can also get negative sometimes. Sometimes, life plays a trick on us, and all our hope goes out of the window. However, it is essential to remind ourselves that everything is temporary, and it will pass. We tend to think that our life is wrong just because we are stuck in a messy situation. However, the right mindset and willpower can get us through anything.

Photo by Francisco Gonzalez on Unsplash

It is essential to work on your lifestyle and incorporate beneficial foods in your daily routine. Kratom is one of the most valuable organic supplements which people use readily to mitigate mental issues. Gold Bali kratom available on kratom krush is specifically beneficial as it has a mild taste and works best for beginners.
Green Malay kratom is also one of the most sought after kratom types. Click here to read Green Malay reviews online through which you can judge its potency. It is super important to pay attention to your physical health as it determines your mental health.

4.     Family

Most of us have families that support us in anything we do. However, not all of us have such a blessing in our lives. A teenager with a broken family or bad relationship with parents can fall in the trap of depression. It is critical to have family or close ones as a backup who support you through dull times. You can also opt for therapy to help you attain mental stability.

5 Tips for Traveling Safely with Your Pets

There are two things you can never forget at home when traveling: your pets and your children (unless we’re talking about Home Alone). Your passport ranks a close third if you’re setting off on an international voyage. Anything else is replaceable.
Whether you’re moving to a new city or embarking on a month-long road trip, you’ll want to do more than just remember your fur babies.
You’ll want to be prepared to travel safely with them. Here are five tips for doing just that.

#1 Bring Important Documents

If your animal gets into any trouble on the road or while away from home, you’ll need to have relevant information on hand to give to a new veterinarian. Depending on how and where you’re traveling, airport security or other officers may ask you for specific papers as well. Here are a few records and forms you should make copies of, just in case:

  • Medical history, including previous vaccinations and known allergies
  • Detailed information regarding any medications they currently take
  • Specific documents required by the state, such as a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection, or an EU passport if traveling abroad

#2 Identification

A collar and ID tag is a good start, but for greater chances at reunification and better peace of mind, install the HomeAgain microchip—safe, permanent, and smaller than a grain of rice—under your pet’s skin.
90% of pets without identification never reunite with their families. With all the chaos of summer travel, your pet might get startled and run off, but this technology makes the unthinkable much more manageable.

#3 Reduce Anxiety

When you place your animals in their crates for long periods of time, they don’t understand what’s happening. They’re in a small, contained space with no idea where they’re going. If someone did that to you, you’d be downright terrified.
Luckily, there are ways to alleviate their feelings of claustrophobia and anxiety:

  • Limit food and drink intake – Don’t give your pet too much to eat or drink in the hours leading up to your trip. This will help reduce anxiety and prevent nausea and vomiting—which is a pain for both them and you.
  • Final bout of exercise – Right before embarking on your journey, squeeze in a good 20 minutes of exercise to destress and tire them out. Take your dog for a quick walk or play a game of fetch. This is a little more awkward with cats, but you can still put a leash on them and do a few laps around the backyard or parking lot (just ignore all the questioning looks).
  • Cannabidiol treats – In the same way that it relieves stress for humans, one dose of a CBDfx pet tincture should calm your animal’s nerves and make them less frightened by sudden noises or movement.

#4 Acquaint Your Pet with The Car

If you’ve never traveled with your pet before, they probably don’t spend a whole lot of time in the car. And when you do take them somewhere by car, where are you most likely going?

Photo by marieke koenders on Unsplash

The vet, the groomers, or the dentist. Super fun places where pet dreams come true.
Take your pup somewhere exciting in the car, like their favorite park or a dog beach if they like to swim. You can find excellent options in your area by using Dog Park Finder Plus.
Your animal will begin to form new, positive associations with a car ride, which will make them less resistant to climbing back in after each rest stop. It might take some time to undo the trauma of their most recent teeth cleaning, but you can get them there eventually.

#5 Proper Crate or Carrier

Your travel carrier should be big enough for your pet to sit, lay down, stand up, and turn around in—basically, everything required for a standard game of Simon Says.
Invest in a Sleepypod pet carrier to give your animal a comfortable experience without sacrificing their safety. The Sleepypod performs triple-duty as a carrier, cozy bed, and car seat, so you can transition easily from truck to plane to train and back again.

Load Up and Head Out

Traveling is amazing, but there’s a lot to think about. Did I pack enough underwear? Will my carry-on fit in the overhead bin? How can I travel sustainably in an unfamiliar city?
With these helpful tips, you’ll have one less question on your mind. With your pets in their car seat carriers, snoozing happily from the CBD treat, you’ll almost forget they’re there—but seriously, don’t forget they’re there.

Kawhagan Island and Sugba Lagoon Tour

One of the most unexpected islands hopping activities we had when we were in Siargao was when we were offered by GotMarked Tours to also visit Kawhagan Island together with the Sugba Lagoon, Magpupungko Rock Pools, Maasin River, and Coconut Road.
All of those destinations in one day and truly one heck of an adventure.

Kawhagan Island

Our first stop was Kawhagan Island, an island with its own sandbar. It boasts its crystal clear waters and white sand sandbar that surely sparkles when the sun is shining bright. If you get here when the sunlight is in its optimal state, you’d be so much excited to step your feet on the sand.

The crystal clear waters also surrounding the island is what makes this island really beautiful. The coast is so much pristine and being a witness to how beautiful it is, words really could describe enough.

Hilahan moment

We had a few minutes to take photos in the area and one thing I noticed is that Kawhagan Island in a few years could be the next pink island of Siargao. There are residues from red corals making the shore slightly pink in color. I wonder how it looks like during the sunset.
Kawhagan Island is usually an optional add-on to the tour with additional fee so you need to make sure that it is a part of your itinerary to see its real beauty.

Sugba Lagoon

The Sugba Lagoon is one of the most sought after destinations for island hopping activity while in Siargao.
siargao-travel-guide-kawhagan-island-and-sugba-lagoon-tour
This is where you could get to experience the cliff jump that the lagoon is known for. This is also the starting point to get to the big lagoon where Yeng Constantino’s husband got into an accident.
You could do many things in Sugba Lagoon like kayaking, boating, balsa adventure, paddle boarding, snorkeling, cliff jumping (one of the famous activity there) and a whole lot more.
We spent an enormous time in here at least until past 12 pm because cliff jumping was really enjoyable.

You can leave your things at the building in the area while you are enjoying the activities. Mind you though, the other activities that use equipment (like a kayak, balsa, paddleboard, etc) requires payment so bring extra cash if you could.
Of course, as an adventurer I am, I never would want to miss jumping at the 12-foot high ledge and experience getting my ears to get raptured again. Just kidding, of course, I wouldn’t want to get my left ear raptured but it’s the second time it got hurt. The first was when I was practicing for a duck dive in a swimming pool.
After my second jump, my left ear got hurt a bit so I know that’s the last time I will jump for that day. Haha
After spending a great time at Sugba Lagoon, we then headed next to Magpupungko Rock Pools for our lunch (a late lunch).

Siargao Travel Guide: Naked Island, Daku Island & Guyam Island

Siargao Travel Guide:
Naked Island, Daku Island & Guyam Island

In Siargao, the three most famous islands would be Naked Island, Daku Island, and Guyam Island. These were all the first islands that gave attention to the island of Siargao, always been a part of island tours. Not only because of the great photos I believe, but also because each island has its own distinct beauty.
It’s a part of a whole day island tours by GotMarked Tours including Corregidor Island in the itinerary.
Take a look at our Magpupungko Rock Pools, Maasin River, and Coconut Road tour.

Naked Island

Naked Island

Shortly after our Corregidor Island tour and photoshoot (lol), we headed next to Naked Island.

Naked Island is around 25 mins away from Corregidor Island. It’s called Naked Island because there was nothing on the island but small plants. No trees, no coconuts, no shades, but pure white sand and rocks. The blue waters surrounding the quaint island is enough to make Naked Island a big part of the tri-island trip.

Yes, it’s kinda boring because there is nothing else there but if you are with friends taking photos of each other, the visit was worthwhile. We spent only about 20 mins on the island.

Daku Island

In Visaya dialect, “Daku” means big, and Daku Island literally means Big Island.

Yes, Daku Island is a large island with a community in it. We weren’t able to spend a whole lot of time on the island or explore around because the beach area where our boat docked was already a great one.
siargao-travel-guide-naked-island-daku-island-guyam-island
siargao-travel-guide-naked-island-daku-island-guyam-island
There were cottages on the island and lush coconut forest. That alone is enough to take photos of the area and of course, us. There’s a fee for using the cottage so we didn’t opt to rent one and also because we won’t be staying long in Daku Island.
siargao-travel-guide-naked-island-daku-island-guyam-island

Foreigners were also staying on the island and are playing volleyball while we kept on taking pictures of us and the area we are in. Naked Island
You can also do an overnight stay here at Daku Island.

Guyam Island

siargao-travel-guide-naked-island-daku-island-guyam-island
Guyam Island is a small island a few minutes from Daku Island. Guyam also means “langgam” in Bisaya dialect.
Compared to Daku Island, Guyam is just a portion of it and you can definitely explore all of its land assets in less than 20 mins. But floras are growing on this island, unlike Naked Island where there’s none.
siargao-travel-guide-naked-island-daku-island-guyam-island
We first headed to the sandbar, that was already submerged in water because the high tide is getting in. We took a couple of photos, and also was a good spot to see Guyam Island from the distance.
After our submerged sandbar experience, we went back to the boat and headed straight to Guyam Island itself.

There were plenty of coconut trees and a few other plant species here and there, but most of all, there is a bar that serves ice-cold drinks and even smoothies. Awesome!
We spent a good time in this quaint island. The good experience is mainly experienced here because we took our time to enjoy the breeze, the sun, the drinks, and the company of each other. We loved it. Naked Island
