Why Traveling Makes Us Relaxed and Sleepy

When we think of travel and relaxation and sleep, sandy beaches or quaint villages or maybe romantic cities come to mind. The notion of faraway lands has a certain thrill attached to it and can lure the most of us into the realms of blissful imagination. Traveling Makes Us Relaxed
Also, by the time you take that well-deserved holiday, your batteries are already at a low point. You have worked without ceasing, you were hopefully successful, and you feel good about yourself. It’s even possible your boss or a loved one convinced you that you needed some time to relax and recharge.
[hoops name=”InArticle”]
Whatever the reason, you will most likely feel exhausted the first day you wake up on your holiday. The mere notion that you do not have to go to work will wash the stress off of you like a hot shower. Your body finally has the time to shut down, and the procedure will not only take twenty-four hours.
It is best to spend at least two days at home before leaving to your dream destination so that you have the time to recalibrate and get used to the fact that the entire day is yours to do with as you please. If you have the right mattress like on www.mattressmatchers.com, you will feel more comfortable in your bed. Also, you will also enjoy the flight or drive to wherever it is you are going.

Traveling Makes Us Relaxing and Sleepy - https://twobudgettravelers.com

Remember travel is not a destination, but a voyage. So, try and enjoy all of it.

In some cases no matter how much we have rested, we still feel tired when we travel. A lot of it is good tiredness but read on to learn more.

  • No matter how exhausted you might be from work, many of us like to stay up late when we travel. There is so much to see and experience. This bug gets to us all. It’s another word for excitement.
  • Did you know that there is not only bad tiredness but also good tiredness? The latter is when you get enough quality sleep in one night, but you are still bushed the next morning. What is more pleasant than knowing that you can stay in bed and you have nowhere you need to be? Relax and order breakfast in bed. Traveling Makes Us Relaxed
  • Different sensory impressions tire us. If you live in the city, the salty sea air might make you drowsy time nighttime comes. Also, different smells and the surrounding area have the power to make us feel relaxed, sleepy and there’s nothing better than sleeping on a comfy Rest Right mattress.

[hoops name=”InArticle”]

‘To wake up alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.’ Freya Stark

  • We may have had a drink too many. Palm trees and the sea or an idyllic pub in a quaint fishing village or the view of the snow-capped mountains are conducive to overindulging. It invites pleasure. Traveling Makes Us Relaxed
  • The same goes for overeating. When we are on holiday, our eyes are larger than the capacity of our tummies. Many of us revert to being children. We take on more than we can handle. Also, there is more time to have a starter, and an entrée and a dessert. Now, there’s a tiredness recipe if you ever wanted one.
  • In the previous two points, I have focused on our more bacchanalian friends. What about those of you who go on hiking, surfing, scuba diving or skiing holidays to name a few. Well, in your case so much physical activity will have worn you right out. Especially if you have been cooped up in the office for months. Traveling Makes Us Relaxed

For the larger part, we have spoken of good tiredness, and there’s nothing wrong with that. It is a healthy and rejuvenating feeling and unfortunately something that has become a rarity for many of us.

Motivation in the Workplace – How to Improve Work from Home Morale

Working in a virtual environment is not easy primarily when you have been used to staying around your workmates at the place of work daily. When you spend several days at home, you can feel disconnected and isolated, and this typically leads to a sharp decline in the morale of staff.

Morale drives the engagement and productivity of any staff. When it is at higher levels, companies will realize their ultimate potential. However, morale is something you have to build when operating remotely.

So, how do you maintain morale while at the workplace? Charge your productivity and workplace motivation with these simple tips. Read on to learn about them.

Be Connected

When you are working from home, employees must know that they can still reach their managers and seniors if they have any issues and would require some helping hand.

To stay connected while working from home, you need to spend time with your colleagues. However, this may be done virtually, it’s generally about time dedication to your staff.

Probably, you may have already been holding one-to-one meetings. You can benefit from making more of these meetings while working from home.

Use Zoom

Moreover, you may have known that video calls can help you stay connected than voice calls while working from your virtual workplace. Through facial expressions and body language during these one-to-ones, the remote staff is convinced and reassured.

Ensure that you spend some of that meeting period, not speaking on future deadlines or targets. However, show some interest besides work to make the employees feel that you care about them as humans, and this, in turn, boosts their morale.

You may be experiencing some challenges about time constraints as a manager, yet, you can still allocate some short time for your staff regularly; this will help the morale of your employees.

Always Keep the Company’s Vision Clear

If you are not within the office, you may feel detached from your organization. To sustain motivation and high morale, you need to remind yourself of how your role adds up to the company’s more exceptional picture.

Also, employees need to identify what is taking place, although they are not in the office; this can be done through messaging. Sometimes, you can be tempted to keep bad news from your staff, yet it would benefit everyone when they feel how transparent you are.

Additionally, as you share more good news with your staff, you keep their morale high, therefore improving their productivity as they work remotely.

Recognition Is Significant

When a person appreciates and notices your work, it boosts your morale significantly. Now, when you work from home, this can have a massive impact, since you are not there to receive the thanks in person, you can feel that your efforts have been noticed.

Do not the chance to appreciate your staff if they have done an exemplary job. As a manager, you can improve your staff’s morale by asserting their importance to the overall picture of the company, and this makes them feel valued to the business.

Usually, appreciation and recognition will assist in keeping high morale in the employees as they work in the office, but will even be more significant as they operate from home.

Incentivize Employee Social Interaction

While in an office environment, you can have a break or a public eating place where you can interact and mingle with colleagues to maintain morale.

However, when working from home, you can miss the fun element of work. This can have a considerable impact on the motivation and morale of staff.

Therefore, social activities need to continue among remote staff, as most of the activities done in the office can be done remotely.

As such, employees can be motivated to meet virtually and play games online during lunch breaks, or introduce a video chat for the staff to discuss how their day has been.

Keep Development and Learning a Priority

Employees can feel relaxed at stagnant in their careers while working from home. To ensure high morale, you can allow your employees to learn and develop continually.

You can achieve this via E-learning, where employees can get into some training sessions according to their preference.

Learning new skills boosts the morale of the employees, and also make them know that their employer invests and values them.

Conclusion

Many people may not be used to remote work, and this can negatively impact their morale to a great extent.

However, this morale can still be improved by following simple tips and ensuring that your business remains productive.

5 Ways to Sleep Cool While Traveling as a Side Sleeper

Traveling is fun, but it becomes extra tricky during the night or rest hours. Sometimes, it gets too hot while at other times, the weather is not convenient at all with cold creeping in at the slightest of chances. Other times, you find the beddings somewhat inconvenient giving you half-sleepless nights. Whereas this is the case for many tourists, it is important to note that heat is a common problem for a majority – whether sleeping indoors or outdoors and regardless of sleeping positions. Ways to Sleep Cool
5 Ways to Sleep Cool While Traveling as a Side Sleeper - https://twobudgettravelers.com
[hoops name=”InArticle”]
Especially those who visit tropical areas; they might find it hard to adapt at night, with such differing temperatures from their homeland. As a result, uncomfortable nights pop up and hence, insufficient rest.

5 Ways to Sleep Cool While Traveling

Not to worry, however. There are half a gazillion ways you can keep cool without necessarily spending too much. These are simple home remedies that can be used even when camping in some dense forest. There is no limitation to their application. Nevertheless, they are best for hot sleepers and relate to the lot that sleeps on their sides – the right or the left. Experts recommend sleeping on the left side – if sleeping on the side at all – since it: alleviates acid reflux, improve blood circulation and digestion and drains toxins and lymph nodes.

1. Check on Your Eating Habits

If you don’t know this by now, you’ll do yourself justice to listen properly. The amounts of foods we eat go a long way to influence the metabolism and processes in our body. A heavy meal has a result of giving off large quantities of heat. This is most likely why people with a bigger body mass index and fat tend to always look for a way to cool themselves. You need to regulate the amounts of food taken, especially before bed. Your metabolism rate needs to be as low as possible if you are to generate little heat – light meals will make this possible.

2. Helping Tools

Having a fan in the room won’t hurt. In fact, it might just come along as the right aid to regulate the room temperatures. Make sure your room has one. If you are in a safe location, you could have your windows open all night long. Ways to Sleep Cool

3. Right Bed, Right Mattress

Some beds are uniquely designed such that their height levels can be adjusted. Lowering the beds closer to the floor is another simple technique you can apply. You might also opt to sleep on the floor with your mattress spread out. This is because floors generally tend to have temperatures lower than that of the room. Scientifically, as hot air rises, a cooling effect is left on the floor.
Just like there are beds designed for sleeping on a side, so are there mattresses designed to keep you cool. Reviews show that much credit is to be given to the type of mattress one sleeps on. There are some that won’t fit you at all as a hot side sleeper. Some layers and materials that will keep off the heat include latex, spring, gel, memory foam and bamboo.

4. Your Clothing

5 Ways to Sleep Cool While Traveling as a Side Sleeper - https://twobudgettravelers.com
You can’t have a sweater on top of a nightgown with inner clothing inside, and still, expect to be as cool as a cucumber. Wear loose clothing, and if possible, have your ‘birthday suit’ with you if your beddings and privacy allow it. Ways to Sleep Cool

5. Improvising

You might as well be smart and come up with your own methods. Bring a cold water bottle to bed to regulate the temperatures. You can also use a damp sheet and if it’s really hot, get out of bed and put those feet inside cold water. That should cool your nerves. Ways to Sleep Cool
There you have it – simple techniques to keep off the heat for side-sleeping travelers. Since the mission is to keep off the cold and still be comfortable, use as many ways as you can find for thermoregulation. Whatever best works for you, after all, your comfort is key.

CML Beach Resort & Waterpark: Savoring the last days of summer in Batangas

Before summer came to a close, we got to experience a water theme park and resort in Batangas City in May.
Have you heard of CML Beach Resort and Waterpark? If yes, did you like it? If not, well, I’m going to show you how it looks!

CML Beach Resort & Waterpark: Savoring the last days of summer in Batangas

CML Beach Resort & Waterpark  is a beachfront resort that’s ideal for families and groups of friends.
CML Beach Resort & Waterpark - https://twobudgettravelers.com

Entrance

Upon entering, we were given a paper bracelet that we had to wear during our entire stay to signify that we were guests. There was cucumber juice as welcome drink at the lobby, which we enjoyed while the staff were preparing our room.

Our room

CML Beach Resort & Waterpark - https://twobudgettravelers.com
We stayed in a family suite good for 12 persons. It was air-conditioned with a private toilet and bath. It also had TV and a small refrigerator. The best part was the soft beds that I loved so much!
There was a hair dryer in the bathroom, too. One thing I noticed, though, was the staff counted the towels in front of us. Making sure that we would return them all?
Coffee and tea making facilities were also available. There was a kettle, four coffee cups, and 4 glasses.

The Amenities

CML Beach Resort & Waterpark - https://twobudgettravelers.com
The resort has a massive water slide! It sure is fun, but I think it’s suitable for adults only. Showers and fountains are designed like mushrooms—perfect for all ages!
CML Beach Resort also offers three swimming pools—one in the middle of the resort, another facing the beach, and another one for kids. Children aren’t allowed in the adults’ pools, though.
CML Beach Resort & Waterpark - https://twobudgettravelers.com

Food

Our family suite included breakfast, but you can order food at the restaurant which offers a wide selection of dishes. Some guests ordered food and asked to be served in front of their room or by the pool.

Bringing food from outside is okay?

I believe, yes, it’s allowed. Although I’m not 100% certain. But I saw some guests bring in snacks, probably for a day trip.
In addition, the town is close to CML, so if you don’t feel like eating inside, you may hail a tricycle cab to go to the town where you can find the mall and some local restaurants.
I would also recommend LSI Lomihan that serves delicious and pocket friendly lomi. It’s only a 15-minute walk away from the resort.

CML Beach Resort & Waterpark - https://twobudgettravelers.com

What to love about CML

I love the fact that CML has attentive lifeguards by the swimming pools and on the beach. That means it’s very safe and they make sure that they keep an eye on every guest.
CML Beach Resort & Waterpark - https://twobudgettravelers.com
How to get to CML Beach Resort & Waterpark
CML Waterpark and Beach Resort is located in Brgy. Nonong Casto (45.24 mi), Lemery, Batangas.
If you’re riding a bus from Manila, it would take you 4-5 hours depending on the traffic situation. Fare is between P150-180.
We would like to personally thank CML for accommodating us! It was indeed a fun stay!
For more information, you may contact them through their official Facebook page.

The Ruins at Talisay City, Negros Occidental | Travel Guide

This is one place that is never to be skipped especially when you are heading to Negros Occidental. Just a few minutes away from Bacolod City lies the commonly known as “Taj Mahal of Negros” or “The Ruins” of Talisay City, Negros Occidental (except that there’s no one buried here).

The Ruins of Talisay City

the-ruins-at-talisay-city-negros-occidental
The Ruins of Talisay City has become famous for its naturally ruined beauty. The Ruins was built to memorialize the great love of a husband to his departed wife. Currently, the family of the grandson of Mercedes, Mr. Raymund Javellana, owns and maintains The Ruins.
Here’s how the love story goes that made to build the mansion, now called, The Ruins: This Love Story of Fame, Power & Tragedy is Why “The Ruins” are a Valentines Destination | Source: Choose Philippines
Please be guided that there is some misinformation about where the place is located. The Ruins is located in Talisay City and NOT in Bacolod City.
the-ruins-at-talisay-city-negros-occidental

Our Experience at The Ruins

Arriving at around 11 am, it was really hot that day. Upon entry at the gate, we waited for a few minutes for the entrance personnel to go to the front desk. We paid ₱ 100.00 each per entry.
The Ruins ground area is like a huge garden full of benches, trees, and plants. It’s almost like a park but with an entrance fee. We didn’t look around for long because the heat is melting so we headed straight to The Ruins or the mansion itself.
the-ruins-at-talisay-city-negros-occidental
We were approached by a lady who was asking if we would like to ride the shuttle van going back to Bacolod City so she told us the schedule and how much it cost. After a brief conversation, we looked around and I immediately aimed to look for the glass table where the famous mirror shots are taken.
Yes, the mirror shots are a reflection from the glass table just outside in front of the cafe and not something created by nature (like water pond or fountain). Just open your mind for creativity and you will achieve the perfect shots you wanted.
the-ruins-at-talisay-city-negros-occidental
There’s also a fountain across the supposedly main entrance of the mansion and it’s quite adorable for photos as well. When we got there, there’s a wedding that was scheduled by 2:30 pm so we were lucky enough to get there by 11 am as the whole area will be closed for the wedding. I’m saying it’s a great location for the wedding ceremony!
the-ruins-at-talisay-city-negros-occidental
Because of the scorching heat outside, we went inside the mansion. The details of the pillars of the mansion can still be recognized and it’s an amazing work I must say. There’s a cart inside for photo ops, a wall full of the owner’s and its family portraits and history, and at last, a souvenir shop which is the only air-conditioned area in the mansion.
the-ruins-at-talisay-city-negros-occidental
Honestly, there’s really nothing much to see inside The Ruins and I think that the entrance fee they are collecting (₱ 100.00 / head) is not at par to what the area has to offer. Nonetheless, it’s a good sight of history and a famous landmark but I don’t think I will ever go back again.
Note: According to locals, it’s best to see The Ruins during 6:00 pm onwards.

The Ruins Entrance Fees

• Consumable (valid only on the Restaurant) — ₱ 300 (Optional)
• Adult — ₱100
• Senior Citizens / PWD — ₱70
• Students — ₱60
• Children (below 8 yrs. old) — ₱20
*Present IDs on the entrance to avail of the discount for Senior Citizens and Students.

How to Get to THE RUINS from Bacolod City by commute

1. From Bacolod City (or along Lacson St), ride a jeepney/cab bound to Bata-Libertad (northbound, going to Bata). The fare is only ₱ 8.00 per person.
2. Tell the driver to drop you off at Pepsi Plant (nearby Ceres North Terminal). You will also see a huge board along the road telling “This way to Ruins / Campuestohan”.
the-ruins-at-talisay-city-negros-occidental-travel-guide
3. Hire a tricycle going to The Ruins. That will only cost ₱ 50.00 per person about 20 minutes ride.
4. Once you get to The Ruins, pay an entrance fee of ₱ 100.00 each and feel free to explore the area.

Going back to Bacolod City from The Ruins

1. There’s a shuttle van that leaves every 30 mins – 1 hour. They charge ₱ 50.00 each up until Robinson’s Bacolod and ₱ 70.00 each up until Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
2. If you want to commute, same directions apply as above. Outside the entrance of The Ruins are tricycle waiting for passengers. Each passenger costs ₱ 50.00 up until Pepsi Plant.
3. From Pepsi Plant, cross the street (hi-way) and look for jeepneys or cabs bound to Libertad. Each passenger costs ₱ 8.00.

Traveling in Your Golden Years: 5 Travel Tips for Seniors

5 Travel Tips for Seniors

Traveling is one of the greatest joys in life and getting older means that you have more free time to be able to explore everything that the world has to offer. Not only can traveling provide you with the opportunity to immerse yourself in new cultures and meet people you would not otherwise have access to, but it is also one of the best ways to stay social and active as you get older.

However, many seniors make the mistake of thinking that their golden years mean that they have to slow down and stay indoors. So, we have put together some of our most helpful tips on how you can enjoy traveling in your golden years.

Make the Most of Senior Discounts

Not only does being older mean that you have the spare time and the disposable income to travel across the globe, but it also means that you can make the most of the senior discounts that many travel companies and hotels offer.
When you are planning your trip, be sure to ask about senior rates before booking, as even if they do not advertise it, many travel vendors do have a senior discount in place. It may not seem like a huge amount of money on each booking, but it all adds up!

Always Prioritize Your Health

It is important to remember that while getting away and enjoying different cultures and places is a great way to enjoy your golden years, you always need to make your health a priority. You will not be able to enjoy your time away to its full potential if you are not feeling well. So, before you travel anywhere, be sure to get a full bill of health from a medical professional!

Your health should also be at the forefront of your mind throughout your travels. So, do not plan too much into your travel itinerary and make sure that you are getting enough rest. You should also protect your skin by wearing a high SPF every day and by reapplying regularly.

Invest in an Electric Wheelchair

Traveling can be difficult for some seniors because they are unsteady on their feet for long periods of time. However, this does not mean that you cannot experience everything that the world has to offer.
For example, you should consider investing in a folding electric wheelchair that will help you get around but is also mobile enough to come on your travels with you without getting in the way. Powered wheelchairs that fold are a travel essential for seniors that can make trips both safe and enjoyable.

Do Your Research

We recommend that you take some time to do research on your travel destination before you go so that you have an idea of how suitable it is for your age and physical ability.

Get Travel Insurance

While getting a travel insurance policy to protect you while you are traveling is essential for anyone going on a trip, it is even more important when you are a senior. However, when you are older and traveling abroad, you should double-check that your policy covers you for any emergencies.

In some countries, medical treatment can be quite expensive, so check the small print and make sure you have a policy in place that protects you for every eventuality. But keep in mind that your travel insurance might be more expensive if you have pre-existing medical conditions.
By doing your research and having all the equipment you need, you can make the most of your golden years by traveling the world.

Grill Wine Cafe: You Must Not Miss This Restaurant in Siem Reap

There are many restaurants to dine at Siem Reap, even street foods could be found anywhere. We have this thing that always happens during our trips, we would like to dine at a fine dining or high-end restaurant whenever we are traveling in a place not familiar with us, even just for once.
So when we headed to Cambodia, particularly Siem Reap, we found out that this restaurant is also a partner of our hotel, Memoire Siem Reap so we opted to dine at the restaurant, the Grill Wine Cafe.

Grill Wine Cafe

Grill Wine Cafe is located at where Memoire D’Angkor Hotel is located and is just right across the street so it’s easy to be seen in Siem Reap.
When we got inside the restaurant, there weren’t many people inside because it’s already past 2 pm and we are just starting to take our lunch, mainly because we finished breakfast at around 10 am.
We took some photos of the restaurant, in and out, and we could say that this is a well-designed restaurant with modern Khmer touch. It also shows a theme with elegance by the way it was decorated. Pleasing to the eyes, and really doesn’t look like you are dining in a cheap place.
The waiters and staff at the restaurant were attentive enough as when they gave us the menu, we had a hard time picking for what could be the best dish we have to order. So we asked a few questions about which are the bestsellers for both the drinks and viands.
Some staff was good with English so we didn’t have a very hard time conversing with them. They were able to explain to us what kind of this are we going to take (from our order) and if they are spicy or not.
While we are waiting for our orders to come, one of the staff attended to us and made a lengthy conversation about the food, how they are served, and mostly about things in general like asking us about what we think of Siem Reap, how was our day and how was our exploration going so far, etc. Those kinds of things which are simple but has enough impact to us as a foreign visitor in their country.
Here are their recommended dishes, which we ordered.

If you think it’s not quite a lot, well, there are side dishes that made us full when we visited.

Well, there actually are more photos but I can’t upload them because I (Jerny) look so tipsy already for having two glasses of Frozen Blue Daiquiri – and I don’t look good in them either, it will ruin the photo for the food.

Nonetheless, what made us happy about our experience here in Grill Wine Cafe is not just about the food, but also the people who we were able to speak with while in this restaurant. We both felt very welcomed and we were well accommodated that it felt like we were all friends with all the people there.

Here’s our short review at Trip Advisor:

“Went here for late lunch, supposedly for 1 pm but were able to get here by 2 pm. Fortunately, there weren’t many people when we got there as everyone must have already finished their meals.
We ordered a lot because we really would want to taste Cambodian cuisine and also the steaks they are known for. We started off with a glass of Red wine and Margarita. The Frozen Strawberry Margarita was great and unlike margaritas served in our country, it was more than filled which would want you to slurp the drink already.
Once we had tasted the steak (medium-rare), it was heaven. Every bite was a delight, partnered with red wine, the taste was superb. You would want to dine here every day of your stay in Siem Reap.
The staff were also accommodating, though some of them speak very little English, some are also well-versed. Two of the staff also made us happy by them being so bubbly and welcoming, just like a friend to us even though we have met them for the first time.
The manager also made sure we are having a great time while we eat and gave us some tips on where to go and where to visit especially that we are heading next to Siem Reap. Their hospitality is really nice.
One of the best restaurants we had visited in Siem Reap! Eat here if you can, please, and say hello to the staff for us!”
