ZEN Rooms: Knightsbridge Residences Staycation | Review

It’s always a great experience when we get to discover new places to stay at a cheaper price. With the rise of condominiums in the past decade, there also has been a lot of opportunities for owners to further monetize their property making their homes available for a day in and day out stay for friends or clients. Condominiums are not just a home now, but a business. Zen Rooms is one of the leading providers who made this happen.
With the expansion of technology, there’s also a rise in innovation. Hotels are not the only option when you need a place to stay in, there are also these homes that are managed and can be rented for a night. That’s when Zen Rooms comes in.
Zen Rooms is the leading provider in budget serviced apartments in South East Asia. We received an email and immediately checked the rates on their website. Surprisingly, we found many properties that we feel are great to stay in even just for a night and to experience how their service is. The property we opted to book was located at Knightsbridge Residences.

Knightsbridge Residences Staycation [Experience with Zen Rooms]

zen-rooms-knightsbridge-residences-staycation
One of our goals this year is to stay in one of Makati’s condo towers, Knightsbridge Residences. We already had a dose of staycation experience in Milano Residences (thru a friend’s unit) and Gramercy Residences (check our review here). We didn’t let the opportunity pass this time to stay at Knightsbridge Residences.

Check-in Experience

Our check-in experience was smooth. After arriving at the lobby, we informed the Zen Rooms Knightsbridge Residences team that we have arrived. A few moments later, they have escorted us to our room. Our room was located on the 14th floor of the building.

They told us about the facilities, what we could do, where could we go, and what access do we have during our stay. After checking that everything’s good and the room for us was okay, I handed over the Security Deposit fee (₱2,000) which is refundable upon check-out. Once everything is done, they handed over the keys and left. That’s all of it for the check-in. It only took about 8 minutes – fast and swift.
NOTE: Remember to send a copy of your ID on an email that they will send you after booking so you won’t have issues on your access during your stay.
Upon check-out, we gave them a notice thru text that we will be checking out soon. One of their staffs went to our room, checked the place and refunded us our Security Deposit which is ₱2,000.

Staycation Experience

Knightsbridge Residences is the last of the towers I need to see before the year ends. It’s a personal goal so it has nothing to do with you. LOL. Anyway, we have access to almost every amenity there is at the building.
zen-rooms-knightsbridge-residences-staycation
Similar to a hotel, Zen Rooms provides towels for their guests. I am not sure about the soap/shampoo, toothbrush/toothpaste, and other basic bathroom amenities if they provide one as I have brought my own zen-rooms-knightsbridge-residences-staycationand also because I am not expecting that there’s any (given I have stayed at most serviced apartments).
There’s a provision for the hot and cold shower which is nice. A kitchen where you can cook meals of your own with basic utensils. There’s also a refrigerator, electric kettle, and microwave oven. This is what I liked about Zen Rooms, you can use the kitchen as if it is your real home, a.k.a. home away from home.
In our airconditioned room, there’s also a table and a sofa. Across the sofa is an entertainment set: television with cable channels, DVD Player, and speaker. Free WiFi is also a great addition to the service. The queen-sized bed is also comfy and clean, overlooking the outside views at the balcony.

Zen Rooms Amenity Access at Knightsbridge Residences

As a Zen Rooms guest, we had access to the following amenities:

Pool Area

The Arcade

Recreational Room

zen-rooms-knightsbridge-residences-staycation

The Library

zen-rooms-knightsbridge-residences-staycation
Other places that you can access (where we weren’t able to take proper photos) are Movie Room, Fitness Center, and the Children’s Playroom.
You may also check the Knightsbridge Residences gallery on their website to check the other facilities and amenities as well.

See Hundreds of Lanterns Lit Up at Night in Yasaka Shrine!

Yasaka Shrine, also known as Gion Shrine, is one of the well-known and famous shrines in Kyoto.

See Hundreds of Lanterns Lit Up at Night in Yasaka Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

After our Ginkaku-ji Temple adventure, we decided to roam around with the bikes we have borrowed out from Rio’s Hostel Ginkakuji. This hostel is just 5-10 mins away from Ginkaku-ji Temple, the Silver Pavillion, if by bike. We decided to explore more of the area and so we went to Philosopher’s Path as well as it’s only a few minutes away from Ginkaku-ji Temple.

Down the path and within the area was Gion District, known for its shops and a Geisha ground. Just across the Gion street, was the Yasaka Shrine.

Yasaka Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Yasaka Shrine - www.twobudgettravelers.com

We got there just after the sun sets, it’s a colorful orange in the day and a wonderfully lit up park at night. The lanterns you see in this shrine are named after every sponsor in Gion district’s festival every July, known as Gion Matsuri.

In addition to Yasaka Shrine hosting the Gion Matsuri, Yasaka Shrine (Gion Shrine) welcomes thousands and millions of visitors, local and foreign, every year especially for Japanese traditional rituals and new year celebrations. It’s also the way to Maruyama Park where every Spring season, is a park full of hanami or a Cherry Blossoms viewing site.

This is where we met a few Japanese girls in Kimono too. We were glad to have a photo with some of them. The lanterns were beautifully lit up and aligned to a perfect angle, covering the hall, lighting up the shrine.

There’s so much to see in here. The shrine was large enough and there are too many sights to be seen. You can be here for a day, sipping your own cup of coffee, or enjoying yourself while reading a book, you would never be bored. Across the shrine is the Gion shopping district, you may grab some stuff before heading out to the shrine or go geisha hunting for a while.

The closest train stations are Gion Shijo Station on the Keihan Line and Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu Line.

Alternatively, the 20-30 minute walk from Kiyomizudera Temple through the narrow lanes of the Higashiyama District to Yasaka Shrine is highly recommended.

Manuel Uy Beach Resort, Batangas | Travel Guide | Rates | How to Get There | Itinerary

Manuel Uy Beach Resort, Calatagan, Batangas

Contributed by: Katherine Clarence Cao

The pretty long stretch almost fine white sand, sunset-facing, and clear clean ocean water make the long commute worth it. Entrance fee is cheap and you can bring your own tent if you’re staying overnight as there is a long stretch of campsite covered by trees.
Let me remind you that there’s absolutely no electricity in this place so it’s very advisable for you to bring lamps, flashlights, and power banks.

How to get to Manuel Uy Beach Resort?

If coming from Pasay/Manila,

1. From Pasay Metropoint, ride a van going to Calatagan, Batangas. Fare: P180.00
2. Drop-off to Calatagan Public Market.
3. Ride a tricycle going to Manuel Uy Beach resort. Fare: P50.00/person

If coming from Bacoor, Cavite:

1.  From SM Bacoor, ride DLTB bound to Nasugbu/Lian (fare: Php135)
2. Drop off point at Lian Public Market. Look for jeepneys bound to Calatagan (fare: Php40)
3. Get off at Calatagan Public Market. There are tricycles that will take you straight to Manuel Uy Beach (fare: Php180/way – this isn’t a fixed rate, depends on how much you have bargained with the driver)
Entrance fee is Php100 for day tour and Php200 for overnight
Additional Php50 if you’ll pitch your own tent. You can rent tents there but I’m not sure how much it’ll cost you so I suggest bring your own tent.
Reminders:
There are stores near the beach but the items are limited and it’s expensive so I suggest buying food at the Calatagan Public Market.
Lastly, please please be a responsible traveler and let’s always practice Leave No Trace Policy.

Manuel Uy Beach Resort TIPS:

1. Get the trike driver’s contact number.
2. Bring your own tent so you’d only pay the entrance fee.
3. Bring your own food. Stores are quite far from the resort.
4. You may drop by Zen’s Coffee Hut for a taste of Lomi.
5. Cooked food is about P100.00 up.
6. Best to go there on weekdays. During weekends and holidays, the resort is crowded.
7. Always bring extra cash, travel essentials, sunblock, etc.
8. Bring your power banks as there is a limited power supply in the resort.
9. Use of electricity – P100.00

Manuel Uy Beach Review by Mharlon Lon Ilagan:

I like the beach. Of course, there’s something to improve on, there are things I would like to enumerate:
1.) The place itself is very nice to start with, the management just needs to be stricter when it comes to implementing their so-called “house rules” for smokers. Cigarette butts are all over the place.
2.) It is fine to be loud, that’s what other feels but there should be like specific hours that there would be silence like by 10 in the evening.

3.) Establishing stores outside the beach, few stores inside the beach or a cafeteria. It would be nice if visitors can find something to eat if they don’t have foods with them especially in the middle of the night (this is my personal suggestion because when we visited the place, we brought nothing but ourselves).
4.) The security itself needs to be very serious when it comes to checking the place, especially at night. That would be great if we feel like we are secured. Security and safety of the visitors must be on their top priority (I don’t need to elaborate why).
5.) Over-all the place is good when it comes to soul searching, barkada outing, team building family gatherings, etc. We just need to be more extra careful and sensitive when it comes to following house rules or just have the initiative to have that instinct to care for our environment. We will suffer in the end if we don’t.

Kneeling Carabao Festival | Pulilan, Bulacan’s Celebration of San Isidro Labrador

Since the Philippines have more than 81 provinces and each of them is having their own festival celebration for every municipality, a town in Bulacan, called Pulilan, will never be the last to hold a grand festival in celebration to San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of the farmers.

Kneeling Carabao Festival - Pulilan, Bulacan - https://twobudgettravelers.com.
Kneeling Carabao

Kneeling Carabao Festival is a unique festival held in the municipality of Pulilan, Bulacan every 14th of May. Even nearby provinces participate in this two-day celebration to join with the parade of beautifully decorated carts.
The carabaos are being trained since childhood by their owners using hand gestures to kneel. One thing I saw making the carabaos kneel is when the owner holds the nape of the carabao. These owners make the carabaos kneel in front of the San Isidro Labrador Parish Church as a sign of thanksgiving and honor to the patron of the farmers for a bounteous harvest.

On the parade are marching bands and majorettes of all over the town, in full costumes and gears under the extreme heat of the sun. These bands are performing in front of the church giving countless smiles and joys to the thousand audiences of the parade.

The Kneeling Carabao Festival Experience

The Kneeling Carabao Festival is held every 14th of May with the parade of colorful carts starting at 2 in the afternoon. The festival looks grand and well planned off. The San Isidro Labrador Parish Church and the adjacent convent was decorated with wheat grass and veggies to make it colorful similar to those of Pahiyas Festival in Quezon.
[hoops name=”InArticle”]

A platform was also made for the media personnel and festival VIPs (guests) including Hon. Maria Rosario Ochoa-Montejo, Mayor of Pulilan, Robi Domingo, a local celebrity from Pulilan, and a few more.
It was so hot and humid but the show goes on. People from all over the town of Pulilan gathered to witness the grandiose parade of carts and carabaos. There even are other nationalities and people from other municipalities willing to soak in sweat just to witness how these carabaos kneel in front of the San Isidro Labrador Parish church to honor the saint.

Mayor of Pulilan, Bulacan | Hon. Maria Rosario Ochoa-Montejo

Short story: I had a right foot injury that day.

Not because of the carabaos but because of a ladder that collapsed from the platform. The wooden ladder, only being held by a wire rolled onto a nail attached to the ladder, suddenly collapsed when Teddy Pelaez was going down. While me, resting at that very moment, had my right foot stomped under the thing. I caught a few wounds and scratches and a terrible bruise on my right ankle and foot.
As of writing, it’s been over a week and I still can feel some jolt of pain. It was quite an experience. Never did I experienced such a thing even when I am running down the mountain. Whatever reason it may serve, I hope to find the answer.
Teddy took a small wound onto his lower leg. Luckily, Ms. Rosary already went down the stairs after sitting down there for a few minutes to rest from the heat of the crowd. Glad she wasn’t caught on that small accident.
Kneeling Carabao Festival - Pulilan, Bulacan - https://twobudgettravelers.com.Kneeling Carabao Festival - Pulilan, Bulacan - https://twobudgettravelers.com.
The day and parade celebration had been a success. Everyone went home happy, smelly, and sweaty. A concert was also held by 8 pm starring Maja Salvador which I didn’t attend due to the injury I received. The Pulileños definitely had a great time.
Whether it is a simple family trip or a barkada bonding getaway, paying a visit to this town especially during the festival times will definitely not be a waste particularly for anyone who is fascinated to experience a countryside celebration like no other.

How to Get to Pulilan, Bulacan

Along EDSA Cubao, take Baliwag Transit Bus (Northbound side of EDSA just after Cubao).
This will go to Plaridel Bulacan and Baliwag and Pulilan.

La Bella Tagaytay: Santorini-Inspired Hotel in Tagaytay

La Bella Tagaytay

A Santorini-Inspired Hotel in Tagaytay

Contributed by: Ghie Gacula

la-bella-tagaytay-santorini-inspired-hotel-in-tagaytay
La Bella Tagaytay is one of the newest addition of hotels in Tagaytay City. Known for it’s white and blue color scheme similar to Santorini in Greece, La Bella Tagaytay is one of the most Instagrammable spots you can find in the area.

Pros:

💎 Every angle of the hotel is really picture perfect.
💎The place is really nice. Relaxing ang place. Perfect for a weekend getaway.
💎 Budget-friendly. Got our studio deluxe unit for only 4,000 PHP thru Agoda with breakfast included
💎 Free parking, has 3 restaurants including the Bodhi library, with derma and spa massage in the vicinity
💎 Near Antonios which is a big plus! The food and the ambiance are superb!
Check La Bella Tagaytay rates HERE!

Cons:

💎 Yung area is pinakaloob. Parang ang hirap magcommute. Nung galing kaming Antonios madilim na yung daan. Wala ding kaming nakitang tricycle at wala kaming kasabay sa daan.
💎 Since loob nga sya, I suggest bring snacks along with you. May libreng 2 bottles of water at may restaurant sa baba pero di sya open 24 hrs so pag nagutom ka in the middle of the night, need mo pa bumili sa labas which is 5-10 minutes drive pa highway.
💎 I forgot my adaptor, nagask ako sa reception wala daw sila available.
💎 Yung massage spa nila, medyo pricey based sa service. 750 for 1 hr Swedish massage
All pictures are taken using iPhone X and Samsung S9 plus then no filter
Verdict – Nagenjoy kami sa place and will definitely come back! ❤️ — at La Bella Tagaytay.

Travel Destinations: Koh Tao

Travel Destinations: Koh Tao

Few places in the world compare to the original Land of Smiles. The kingdom of Thailand has enthralled, amazed and enchanted millions of visitors for generations. Its culture and traditions have blended with cosmopolitan modernity to become a fascinating meld of excitement and stimulation. From an adrenaline rush to the secret of your inner karma, then Thailand provides satiation.
travel-destinations-koh-tao
Thailand’s beauty and appeal is enhanced by 1430 islands that pepper the blue waters of its coastline. Each of the islands has its own unique charm and every one of them offers the inquisitive visitor something of itself to help shape, feel and understand the culture and traditions of the kingdom.

READ: Siargao Travel: Kawhagan Island and Sugba Lagoon Tour

In the Chumphon archipelago, off the East coast of Thailand’s Southern isthmus, lies Koh Tao. This 21 square kilometer island is all that an un-spoilt island should be. Koh Tao, which means Turtle Island is aptly named and is in fact 3 small islands connected by sandy beaches.
The island has largely shunned any moves towards the glitz and neon of the music thumping club scene and the draw to profiteering by concreting over its inherent beauty. Instead, the island relies purely on its natural attributes to attract what is a growing number of visitors.

Diving off Koh Tao

travel-destinations-koh-tao
Koh Tao has built a worldwide reputation as a top diving location with many prime dive sites around its coastline. As part of Koh Tao’s drive for safe diving, the dive sites are graded as to whether they are suitable for either beginners or experienced divers. Be you a novice or a veteran, there are fascinating sites to explore.
The Green Rock dive is an ever popular site for divers of all grades. Beneath the surface there are caves and cavernous rock archways to swim through. This is home to the brightly coloured triggerfish, an amazing creature which can grow up to a meter long. Triggerfish are territorial and during the spawning season they become very defensive which can lead to exciting encounters.
Nang Yuan Pinnacle, also known as Red Rock, is an 18-meter formation extending from the seabed to just below the surface, and for years has been a favorite od diving enthusiasts. Within the crevices of this marvelous phenomenon you will find sheltering stingrays, turtles and scorpion fish, all of which give a fascinating insight into the intricate marine ecology of the area.
travel-destinations-koh-tao
Aow Leuk is a sheltered bay of the East coast, devoid of the prevailing strong winds, this is a shallow dive to a sandy bed ideal for beginners. There are a plethora of bottom dwellers here as well as scorpion fish and garden eels, also to be seen around the coral formations are sergeant majors, butterfly fish and the yellow tailed barracudas can be seen schooling through the shallow waters.

READ: Best Beaches in the World According to Travel Bloggers | Page 5

As if the marine life was not enough there is also the wreck of the HTMS Sattakut. A former world war II American warship which was sold to the Royal Thai Navy, the vessel has been strategically sunk to provide a haven for new colonies of coral to grow which in turn attracts all manner of marine life. The wreck is now a popular dive site for beginners and experienced diver alike.
A divers biggest problem maybe deciding what they want to see. Perhaps sea gardens carpeted with anemones, porcupine pufferfish, whale and bull sharks or the black and white banded sea snake. There is so much, a lifetime could be spent diving off Koh Tao. If you are, or wish to be, a marine photographer then there can be no more ideal a destination than Koh Tao.

Away from the Dives

travel-destinations-koh-tao
Koh Tao does laid back beach life as well as anywhere can. Sairee Beach is the island’s largest, and at almost 2 kilometers long occupies much of the West coast. Beach games, sunbathing and swimming are only interrupted by sustenance and refreshment from the beach side bars and restaurants that pepper the sandy fringes of this ever popular destination.

READ: CABONGAOAN BEACH + Death Pool | DIY Budget Travel Guide | How to Get There | Contacts

In the South of the island is Chalok Baan Kao Bay. This small town has all the essential retail outlets, a variety of accommodations options, dive shops and a modern infrastructure as well as many bars and restaurants. This location is a popular base for divers with a bay edged with a quiet sandy beach popular with snorkelers and those of a lethargic nature.
Although maintaining its un-spoilt feel, the island has embraced enough of modernity to satisfy the needs of everyone experiencing the tranquility of Koh Tao. With supermarkets, local shops and markets selling fresh produce, there’s not much a visitor is likely to miss out on.
Although very traditional and laid back, a visit to Koh Tao should be booked through reputable agents, this is best done through the likes of Samui Ferry. With safety and guaranteed services, it is the only way to enjoy the best of Koh Tao.

Villa Palma Canggu: Bali’s Hidden Oasis You Should Stay

During our time in Bali where we spent four (4) days, two nights have been spent to wonderful abode amidst the busy streets of Canggu, Villa Palma. We know there are a lot of choices for villas in Bali but our experience in Villa Palma can’t be taken away and surely we would go back and book it again.
Villa Palma is a hidden tropical paradise in the area of Canggu. Unlike Ubud where you might be seeing greens and rice fields everywhere, Canggu is quite different. Canggu does have the greens and the rice fields too but a few meters away from the villa is a place where tourists hang-out, chatting and drinking together.
NOTE: If you want to avail of tour service when you are in Bali, let Panca know  or Bali Customized Tours that we (Jerny or The Jerny) referred you so you could get a discount on tours. Contact them via Facebook.
You may check out our complete itinerary here: 4D3N Bali Itinerary | Complete with Tours, Costs, and Villas

Villa Palma Canggu

villa-palma-canggu-bali-hidden-oasis-you-should-stay

If there’s any place I would stay again when I get back to Bali, it’s definitely Villa Palma. To us, it’s an oasis in the urban area of Canggu. The place was serene and super laidback, totally away from the noises of the city (except for the neighbor’s dogs). Similar to what we have experienced with Tri Datu Villas, a complete and total relaxation could be experienced here.
Villa Palma is a large villa with three (3) separate bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and amenities similar to a hotel room. The kitchen and common area are shared which is perfect especially if you are traveling with a group. If you are traveling alone, it’s not also a problem as the place is intimate and relaxing. You’d be having friends at the moment you see the other people checked in at the villa. If you are traveling with your partner, the place is perfect for you too. At most times, the feel of the villa is private and that you are the only person checked-in especially if the other guests are traveling.

Villa Palma Swimming Pool

villa-palma-canggu-bali-s-hidden-oasis-you-should-stay
The swimming pool, though not designed to be an infinity type, was still is eye-catching and alluring. First glance of it would make you want to touch it as if you were hypnotized by its charm. It’s really enchanting and makes you want to swim at it all day long. It’s absolutely picture-perfect. Add a few decorations while you swim like a flamingo floater, then is a perfect spot for your photo shoot.  The place is totally Instagrammable!

Villa Palma Experience

villa-palma-canggu-bali-s-hidden-oasis-you-should-stay
After our Day 2 tour with Bali Customized Tours coming from Tanah Lot Temple, our guide drove us to our villa where we will stay for two nights, Villa Palma. He knew the place very well but we had a bit of a hard time finding the place as it’s starting to become dark. Plus the road to the villa was being constructed so we had no choice but to walk a bit further down to find the villa.
For easier navigation, the villa is located beside Villa Nosara at No. 49.
When we found the villa, we went directly in and met our neighbors, Mel with her three months old lovely daughter, Tova, and Ashley with her lovely child, Kaia. We all chatted for a bit and made instant friends. They were expecting us because my name’s written on the bedroom set for us.
villa-palma-canggu-bali-s-hidden-oasis-you-should-stay
We were amazed by how efficient space was crafted for our bedroom and shower room. The room wasn’t too big but everything can be taken care of inside. There a lamp, a king-sized bed, a small table, and inside the bathroom were towels, a hot and cold shower with soap and shampoos.

Common Area, Swimming Pool

At the common area, we spent some time cooking and just relaxing or doing nothing. There is a drinking water dispenser, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, kitchen utensils and of course, the jars of Bali coffee, sugar, and rice. It was a complete treat, but well, we didn’t really expect we could make coffee ourselves while in the villa.
After taking photos of the swimming pool, we took a dip. The water was slightly warm so we were able to stay in the water for almost an hour or quite longer than that. We just enjoyed the pool area all for ourselves as our villa-mates are out for their journey. Never in my life, I have seen a villa looking this aesthetically good in the Philippines. There’s really a huge difference in architecture and lifestyle of Balinese people and Filipinos and it was quite a thought.

Visit at Seminyak

villa-palma-canggu-bali-s-hidden-oasis-you-should-stay
The next day, we woke up early to prepare breakfast and also to take a look around Seminyak. The fastest way to get there and a cheaper option is to book a GrabBike thru the Grab app. Bali has no direct means of transportation from going to one place or another that is why there are many motorbikes in the country and taxis. At Seminyak, we indulged ourselves to the food being served at The Junction House.
When we got back to the villa, we prepared dinner by cooking and buying the ingredients at a nearby convenience store. We also played with Tova and Kaia for a short time while their mothers are preparing their things before leaving the villa to meet friends. We, on the other hand, slept soundly after dinner as we also have to wake up early for our flight back to Manila.

Quick Recommendation

Jane and I  highly recommend you staying here. The villa is a quick walk to Samadi or Bali Buddha for organic eats. Give Cafe is nearby as well as the Crate Cafe! You can walk to the beach if you’re up for a 20-minute walk. The villa is exquisitely designed— aesthetically charming and a good worth for the price. It’s one of the best accommodations you can get in Canggu.

7 Things to Do and Places to Visit in Taguig City

Taguig is such a fast-developing and vast city in Metro Manila. With many developments still going on, no wonder it is one of the busiest central business districts in Manila. Personally, I have not been exploring Taguig that much because I live in the south (Cavite) and Taguig is an unfamiliar place for me, but luckily, I was able to explore a bit of Taguig last weekend.
On our short time in the area, here are some of the places you could visit and things you could do while in Taguig.

  1. Visit Vista Mall Taguig

Vista Mall Taguig is one of the lifestyle centers around Taguig area. It features a two-story mall with almost everything you could possibly need.

If you are working online and need a coworking space, there’s Coffee Project on the second floor. If you want to splurge a bit on food, the ground level is there to provide selections of restaurants to satisfy your cravings. If you need to do some furniture shopping and home decor assignments, you can definitely visit the AllHome center.

Vista Mall Taguig tries to fill up the small spaces with useful corners.

2. Go to The Nest Food Park

A few mins drive (or walk) from Vista Mall Taguig is where you could find a food park that serves great food and enjoyments for its patrons. The Nest opens at 4 pm onwards and is very much alive when the night comes in.
A quick visit here with friends would definitely be an awesome experience for everyone.

3. Go BGC Mural Hopping (Street art Hopping)

If you haven’t been to Bonifacio Global City yet, you’d be surprised by how well maintained and classy this place is. Murals or street arts have been distributed all around the city to add aesthetics and fun in the environment. BGC might be one of the busiest business districts today but it never forgets how to incorporate fun and art in the city.

4. Go to Venice Piazza in McKinley

One of the famous landmarks when you hear Taguig City beside the Bonifacio Global City is the Venice Piazza or the Venice Grand Canal Mall. This iconic place is built in the image of the Venice Grand Canal in Italy with shops’ exterior design and layout is very similar to the original one.
It also has the Grand Canal scenery where you can explore the whole area with a gondola for a fee. At night, the Venice Grand Canal Mall or Venice Piazza lit up with a romantic Italian vibe making it a great place for couples and even for friends to unwind, chill, and relax. It could also be tagged as one of the Taguig tourists spots.

5. Have your lunch at Sunrise Buckets in BGC

Sunrise Buckets might not be the only restaurant in the area but it is one of the places with great selections of buffalo wings served in different flavors. The price point is also fair for everyone to surely enjoy and stay longer at the place.
Having experienced other restaurants in the area, Sunrise Buckets surely has the cheapest beer price among all the restaurants in BGC.

6. Chill at the parks in BGC

7-things-to-do-and-places-to-visit-in-taguig-city 7-things-to-do-and-places-to-visit-in-taguig-city
Bonifacio Global City has lots of parks to offer for leisure and chill fun times. One area you could visit is the Kasalikasan Garden, where some of the garden weddings are usually held because of its vast space for events. The trees also add to the great piece of land making it one of the most visited leisure parks in BGC.
During weekends, one part of the road circling Kasalikasan Garden is closed for the weekend market.

7. Invest in a condominium in Taguig

This, I know, is a seldom thing to do, but could definitely give you a great idea for the future. If you are into investing in properties for leasing, getting a condominium in Taguig is one of the best decisions you could do.

The exact area where The Courtyard will be put up.

Imagine the things you could do and places you could visit because this unit you will have will be in the middle of everything. If not, a close one to the places by walk or a few minutes drive by car.
COHO by Vista Land Taguig is already in the plan. Known as “The Courtyard”, this property is one of the new developments by Vista Land in Taguig. It will have its own 2 floors lifestyle mall, 3 floors parking, and residential homes from the 6th floor to the 21st floor.
As you can see in the image above, The Courtyard COHO by Vista Land will just start the digging and excavation just this month (September) and is projected to be finished by 2021.
The Courtyard COHO by Vista Land offers a unique and beautiful amenity area which boasts a pool that has a view of the Taguig skyline. Accessible via the South Luzon Express Way, C5 and C6 road, and C5 south link. It also is nearby Taguig Medical Center and St. Lukes Medical Center Taguig.

SEDA Capitol Central | Bacolod’s Best Hotel for Travelers

Whenever we go to a place that’s unfamiliar to us travelers, we first think of the accommodation and what kind of. Depending on our purpose in that particular place, we find ourselves torn between getting a hotel room where privacy and comfort are more concerned or a hostel room where there’s less privacy but totally not pricey.
We could totally relate to this as we are traveling more often than an average person does. How do we get to choose the right accommodation for us? When we were headed to Bacolod, there are few choices on where to stay but we are particularly looking for convenience, price, and great location. And so with those facts in mind, we settled to stay at Seda Capitol Central in Bacolod City.

Seda Hotels

Straight Up Bar

Seda Hotels is a chain of hotels that offers exquisite and unique experiences to its patrons and aims to offer incomparable accommodations in the heart of cities in the Philippines. Seda also means “silk” in Filipino language and with this, it has become their symbol to weaving and achieving excellent service and remarkable hospitality experience to travelers.
They have hotels located in Bonifacio Global City (Seda BGC), Quezon City (Seda Vertis North), Laguna (Seda Nuvali), Palawan (Seda Lio), Iloilo (Seda Atria), Davao (Seda Abreeza), Cebu (Seda Ayala Center), Cagayan de Oro (Seda Centiro), and Bacolod (Seda Capitol Central).

Seda Capitol Central Bacolod

This hotel in Bacolod where we stayed is located in the most convenient location ever and that’s one of the many reasons we loved it. It’s easily accessible and it’s nearby the most important landmark in Bacolod City, the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol building. Not only that, transportation hubs and terminals are a few meters away from where it’s standing.
Seda Capitol Central Bacolod is also nearby the newest shopping mall in town, the Ayala Malls Capitol Central where we spent most of our time thinking about what to eat and where to go, well mostly we get to visit this place at night to look for what to eat for dinner.

Seda Capitol Central Bacolod Experience

We only are a few blocks away from where we stayed before heading to Seda Capitol Central Bacolod and we didn’t have a hard time finding where Seda Capitol Central is.

Check-In Experience

Our check-in experience was smooth. The front desk personnel whose name was Marie (not really sure but her name starts with M) was bubbly and kind plus she’s always on smiles. She told us that she was originally from Manila and made it to Bacolod because she had been married to an Ilonggo living in Bacolod. We did a short talk and after a few signatures and identification remarks, we were given our keys and wifi password.
We were also escorted to our room which was located on the seventh (7th) floor of the building. We normally don’t let the hotel staff take our stuff but he was insistent and it was a good thing still as my fiance wanted to let go of her bag. He escorted us to the room to make sure that we have successfully checked into our room and that there were no problems before he leaves.

Room Experience

The room we had was nothing kind of short. It has all the initial setup you could find in hotel accommodations and become also pretty special because of the views it offers from the inside.

It comes with a 40-inch television with cable channels which I love as I keep on browsing for movies to watch. We also have the coffee and tea making facilities for a morning (or evening) refreshment. The room also comes with a media hub or media panel so I could connect my laptop to the television without having to take a look and insert cables at the back of the monitor. I could just simply put my computer on the desk and connect it from there.
One thing I also love here is the addition of an executive desk (where the media panel is situated). I could easily work on my laptop and concentrate on it because you know, if I were to work in my bed, sleep would be a huge distraction. The views on this side are also lovely. It keeps the mind refreshed and free.
seda-capitol-central-bacolod-s-best-hotel-for-travelers
Of course, there’s also a mini-bar where you could get your drink but for a certain price, paid upon check-out. The complimentary WiFi in the room is also good as I have measured the speed. Connected to it gave me an 8 to 10 Mbps of internet speed on my phone.
Our bed was as comfortable as it should be. I really just wanna hang around on the bed and binge watch movies but we have errands to run. We had to go to Ayala Malls for dinner and get some food items as well on the nearby Bong-Bong’s pasalubong store where my favorite Piaya and Ube Piaya can be acquired. But when we’re back in the room, Jane immediately put her head on the pillow and slowly fell asleep.
seda-capitol-central-bacolod-s-best-hotel-for-travelers
Our ensuite washroom was also wide enough and comes with Sasy and Savy bath amenities (shampoo and conditioner, bath gel, and body lotion). It’s like a spa within your reach. Together with a hot shower, they make a perfect pair of bathing.

Swimming Pool at Seda Capitol Central

According to the front desk officer, the pool area is open up until 8:00 pm and is located on the second floor. However, we didn’t really get to experience the facility as it was raining hard that night and the water is so cold. I really would want to try it out for my sanity but since it was raining, we had a hard time deciding if we are to try the waters or not. We only thought of getting some photos for it.

The gym facility is located on the 8th floor and is open 24 hours. Same goes for the E-lounge where you could use the hotel’s computer to finish any work possible or browse the web.

Straight Up Bar at Seda Capitol Central

Straight Up Bar is the rooftop bar at Seda Capitol Central. The views in the area are amazing and this facility is a great place to hang-out. If it weren’t raining and if it wasn’t our last night in the city, we would have loved to spend a couple bottle of drinks in here.
The Straight Up Bar has indoor and outdoor sitting, a soothing and relaxing music, and a great selection of drinks and bar snacks.

Breakfast at Misto

Misto is the ground-level cafe-restaurant that Seda Capitol Central is proud about. This restaurant is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm daily and presents a delectable selection of international to local cuisines and Ilonggo favorites. Ala carte menu is also available daily.
Arriving probably 5 minutes before the opening of the buffet restaurant, we get to see how the preparation is done. However, Misto was opened to guests at around 6:10 in the morning and during this time, the other viands are still in preparation. Good thing that there is plenty of food to choose from so we get to eat what we wanted. We had so much fun selecting what to eat for breakfast even though we’re a bit in a hurry as our flight back to Manila is within two hours.
seda-capitol-central-bacolod-s-best-hotel-for-travelers
We had superb experience at Seda Capitol Central and if there’s anything I would like to go back to, it’s the natural hospitality that the staff resonates to its guests. Their welcoming aura and love for their work are so evident you can feel it up until you head to your room.
So whether for business or for pleasure, I’m sure we’d love to go back and stay at this hotel again. It definitely exceeded our expectations I’m sure, so will you.

From Hiking Solo to Getting Engaged: The Love that Sparked from the Mountains

Traveling is fun and enjoyable especially when we spend it with people who are dear to us, but it is even special when we do traveling for ourselves. We get a chance to know our own capabilities, exceed our own expectations, meet and know people who we didn’t know will make significant changes in our lives. This kind of significant change is the good kind which our friend, Mai, has experienced.
We had good moments together with a few of our friends, got to know her and her story, and believe me she is happier now than she ever was. God and traveling became her refuge for all the struggles, heartbreaks, and frustrations she experienced. She went on from hiking solo to having a travel buddy and finally getting engaged! And she shares her story with us. Mountains do magic!

“My fiance and I met at the beginning of summer, February 2016. It was my third mountain to hike and my second event with Layag Malaya Backpackers. The Mud Survival event was held at Mt. Romelo last February 02, 2016. He was sitting in front of me inside the jeepney while we’re on our way to Laguna. I have already noticed him since he’s good looking and he has a charming personality. But he caught my interest when I found out that we’re working for the same company and workplace.
A week after Mt. Romelo hike, we had our third event at Mt. Manalmon last February 13-14, 2016 where we celebrated singlehood with our new found friends for Valentine’s Day. That was the beginning of our friendship, and he instantly became my companion since then. We had several dinner dates together at our workplace, and out of town-hiking trips together with our friends.
Then one day, we both decided to join a private event organized by one of our friends at Mt. Batulao (March 5-6, 2016). We spent our day and night with the beautiful view of Mt. Batulao, and at the river of Layong Bilog. Before we left the place, I was hoping that he would reveal his feelings for me. I was in love with him during this time and I was just waiting for him to reach out to me.
We left Batangas with no words spoken from him. While on our way home on the bus, he finally spoke to me about how he feels and finally asked me to be her girlfriend (March 6, 2016). That was the happiest day of my life because I know, this is the genuine love that I’ve been waiting for my entire life.
For almost one year, we continued traveling to places and hiking together as a couple. He became my best friend, my travel companion, my food buddy, and my hiking partner. He is the love of my life.

On February 26, 2017, we went hiking at Mt. Talamitam and Mt. Apayang. I thought it was just a regular Sunday hike for me. I didn’t expect that this date will be significant to another journey for the two of us. By the time we reached the summit of Mt.Apayang, we rested for a while and took photos of the beautiful view and of Mt. Talamitam. He asked our friend to take a photo of us, when I looked at him I saw that he was already holding a box with the engagement ring. He proposed to me, and right away I said “yes”. We became officially engaged at the summit of the mountain where it all started.

The mountains made a big significance in our lives. I think it’s God’s way of introducing and letting us appreciate and fall in love with each other through nature. It’s God’s way of blessing us both for patiently waiting, overcoming the challenges during the time when we were single, and through our continuous faith in Him.”

Chester and Mai will tie the knot in March 2018 and we are all excited and happy for her! She deserves all the love and blessings she has right now from what she has experienced in life. Chester is a God-given gift she has been waiting for. A guy with a love she truly deserves!
So to all you folks who are traveling, love yourself first, enjoy every moment, and love will come running next to you! Also, don’t forget that there is magic in the mountains! Jane and I started at Mt. Daraitan!
