Taipei is such a city full of wonders. No surprise that Taiwan is known as the heart of Asia with its border not connected to any other country – and in terms with that, there are a lot of places that you gotta see in Taipei City that even a single day would not be enough of an exploration.
We spent 9 days in this wonderful country and yet, we haven’t even explored every tourist destination there is in Taipei City alone. Taiwan has so much to offer that we would like to see and experience but 9 days of stay was still not enough.
Our exploration wouldn’t have been great without the help of a tour partner, KKday. KKday is a travel start-up in Taiwan, specializing in tours and services, and they have the best tours to offer for the best price. They have quite the good rankings and there was no doubt to trust in their services. If you have been following this blog, we also availed the Taipei 101 Observatory and National Palace Museum thru them.

What to Do in Taipei: Taipei City Sightseeing Bus Tour via KKday

Taipei City Sightseeing Bus Tour via KKday

We knew that Taipei City would better be explored if we availed this service, the Taipei City Sightseeing Bus Tour. It’s the one similar to what there is in Kuala Lumpur.
So basically, what happens is this, once your booking is verified, you can hop-in and hop-off the bus at designated drop-off stations close to the tourist spots. Bring your own earphone to hear the English audio guide on the bus.

After you have been dropped off to your preferred spot, you have your own time to spend at the location. Note though, that the bus has schedules and arrives on time. The bus arrives again after 30-40 minutes. Do the same thing, present your voucher or QR code and tell them where to drop off next.
A convenient and fun way to spend a day touring around the city!

1. Ximending

Watson’s 4-storey shop in Ximending

Ximending is a trendy area and best visited at night. During the day, you can only see the plain street, but at night, it boasts a great amount of energy and lively vibes in the city. Never miss a chance to drop by and spend a night in the Ximending Night Market.

2. Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

The most prominent historical landmark in Taiwan, the CKS Memorial Hall was established in recognition and memory of General Chiang Kai-shek, the former President of the Republic of China, and was opened in 1980 as part of a national park and gathering area. Also officially known as Liberty Square.

3. Taipei 101

Prepare to be amazed by the 360-degree view of whole Taipei. If you want to see the mountains, go in the morning. If you want to see the sparkling view of the city, the best time to get there is in the evening. Tickets are available at the 5th-floor ticketing counter but you can also avail the tickets via KKday. Better if you avail the KKday Express Shuttle Bus: Taipei 101 Observation Deck – National Palace Museum. But make sure to visit at the best time convenient to your schedule.

4. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (國父紀念館)

Also known as “National ‘Father of the Nation’ Memorial Hall”. The main entrance to the hall contains a statue of Sun Yat-sen. Every hour, there is a formal changing of the guards, which is a popular tourist attraction. Best to visit during the day.
I’m not limiting you to these options only but these are the most interesting spots in the Red Line.

Shillin Night Market

Probably one of the largest and most popular night markets in the city of Taipei. Enjoy a few hours mingling among thousands of locals and tourists, this market is full of food stands and small stores, and of course – people!  You can find basically anything for anyone here. You’ll have plenty to buy, from food to clothes. The best time to get there will be before 5 pm, that way you won’t feel that the place is so crowded or get lost easily. Taipei City Sightseeing Bus Tour

Again, I am not saying that you should limit yourselves to visiting only these spots but these are the most interesting spots for my liking.
Getting this Taipei City Sightseeing Bus Tour is totally worth it especially with KKday.
Some of the spots are quite far from where we stayed so it has been very convenient for us to visit the places mentioned above. Though the blue line’s schedule of operations stops at 4:30 PM, we had all day to visit and stop at the tourist spots that it could offer.
