Because summer doesn’t end when the rainy season starts, it’s time for you to check out Moalboal’s Basdaku White Beach located in Cebu! The are plenty of other things to do in Cebu and you just can’t miss this one!
Basdaku is a place (barangay) located in Moalboal, Cebu. It caters a kilometer long stretch of white sand beach, turquoise blue waters, and other saltwater wonders. It is also known as Basdaku Beach Resort. An alternative to its relative beach, the Panagsama White Beach, Basdaku Beach Resort is more popular with locals, and not quite much known for foreign tourists. The beach is very much available to the public. With an entrance fee of just 5 pesos each, you may enjoy the long stretch of white-sand at its finest.
Tent Pitching, Accommodations, and Comfort Room
Tents are readily available in stores and accommodation setters in the area. As for us, we brought our own tent to reduce cost. The pitching of a tent is FREE! You won’t have to pay for anything if you bring one! If in case you don’t have one, worry no more as there are many establishments and homestays waiting for adventurers like you. Price differs per room and accommodation type.
Public comfort rooms are always available in the daytime. They require a certain fee for a clean water supply. One pail of water costs 5 – 15 pesos. There will be someone to assist you in collecting the water and bringing it to your comfort room of choice. Freshwater is pretty much a necessity in this area. When you need to clean up, it costs around 20-30 pesos (0.75 USD), and that depends on how much water you would have to consume. If 20-30 pesos didn’t fit your needs, to have to pay for another set of clean water.
Local Food Mania
Food will always be part of our travels. In Basdaku White Beach, food stalls, sari-sari stores, and “karinderyas” are pretty much available everywhere, especially in a daytime. Ihaw-ihaw, lutong-ulam, ready to eat foods, fruits; soft drinks and crackers can all be found in a store. When night strikes, most of the stores tend to close. Only a few remaining stores will stay open but most of the owners are sleeping! Lol!
Beach Bumming and other Activities
What to do in a beach resort? Beach bumming, yeah! As for me and my girlfriend, Jane, we went on a walk along the stretch of the beach. It’s pretty amazing to know that there are huge coral stones on the other side where people are not mostly going to. Some parts are also mossy but that only means it’s healthy as there were not many people going to that side of the beach. This part is generally quiet and peaceful, perfect for your own quiet time and self-searching.
Of course, we also went for a swim. In some shallow parts, you will find small species of school fish roaming around the area and just happily swimming freely. They look lovely! The salt waterbed, I could say is clean and crystal-clear. Even when the water is neck-deep, I am still seeing my feet!
For the activities, most resorts offer an island hopping tour to Pescador Island. In Pescador Island, snorkeling activities are highly encouraged. You will also be witnessing a sardine run if you are lucky enough! That’s more than a thousand pieces of sardine fish not in a can!
From its clean blue waters to its diverse environment underwater, it’s a rich source of marine species and corals. Cebu truly has many of the best beaches in the world!
