These Are the Accommodations That Are Cheap During the Pandemic

As the fight against the Coronavirus intensifies around the world, many travelers are gearing themselves up for the possibility of travel once more. May it be for business, emergencies, or pleasure, if you will, there’s been a recent surge of travelers seizing the opportunity to travel.
Part of the recent increase in travel is the cheap travel deals and accommodations being offered by various destinations, in addition, of course, to the opening of cities and businesses in attempts to stimulate economic prosperity.
Pandemic hotels are at the forefront of these openings. They serve as quarantine hotels for individuals who need a place to stay while under isolation or observation in light of ongoing battle against COVID-19. Read on to learn more.

These Are the Accommodations That Are Cheap During the Pandemic

Affordable Quarantine Hotels to Stay In During the Pandemic

Hotel costs have plummeted due to various travel bans across the world. However, as the industry adapts to a new normal, more and more accommodations are opening their doors not only to those on the frontline, but also those who are looking for a safe space to tide over their quarantine.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the quarantine period should last for 14 days if you have been possibly exposed to the virus pandemic. This prevents the spread of the disease to other individuals.
The beauty of these services is that guests are still able to avail of high-class amenities and services at a much lower price point – all without compromising the quality of service they get.
Without further ado, below are pandemic hotels opening their doors to travelers and citizens intending to quarantine.

Sonder

Sonder is extending up to 50% off for stays at least 7 nights long. Sonder is a hospitality start-up company that specializes in combining hotel amenities and private home-stays. Each space and property it owns are “designed, outfitted and operated” by Sonder itself.
Under its promotion, Sonder is extending 30% off for individuals staying for more than 7 nights, 40% off for more than 14 nights, 45% off for more than 30 days, and 50% off more than 45 nights. This comes with a flexible cancellation policy.
Their offer comes with 24/7 support and a self-check-in, thereby minimizing interactions. Spaces also come with coffee, in-suite laundry, Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, and many more.

Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach

In March, Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach was one of the first to join the ranks of quarantine hotels rising from the pandemic. It offered a long stay discount of 40% off rates for individuals booking for 14 nights or more. It also comes with a complimentary room upgrade to Bayview Rooms.
Apart from the room upgrade which comes with its own balcony and great views of Botany Bay, service from the Accor Hotels-affiliate also comes with an all-inclusive room service with meals and drinks, Wi-Fi, and free parking.

Park Lane Hong Kong

For those going to Hong Kong for unavoidable business travel or simply for medical professionals seeking respite amid the rising cases in the country, you’ll be glad to know that Park Lane Hong Kong offers a Long Stay promo valid until September 30, 2020.
Under the Long Stay promotion, a 14-night stay in the luxury hotel will cost around HK13,300 per room while those staying for at least 30 nights will get exclusive rates from HK25,500.
All rooms come with complimentary Wi-FI access, fitness center access, complimentary yoga and fitness classes, and daily housekeeping. Guests will also be given a 20% discount on In-room dining packages.

Oyo Hotels and Homes

These Are the Accommodations That Are Cheap During the Pandemic

Another accommodation that is worthy of your time and money is Oyo Hotels and Homes. If you are in Southeast Asia, particularly Malaysia, or the Philippines, you can stay in one of their discounted rooms. Medical staff, however, may avail of their housing free of charge.
Known as the largest budget hotel chain across South Asia, this boasts of jam-packed amenities. This means you can enjoy your stay here while under isolation without breaking the bank.

The Bottom Line

Staying safe from the virus pandemic is possible while experiencing home away from home. With these quarantine hotels, you can safeguard your wellness and protection with the utmost priority wherever you may be in the world.

5D4N Japan Itinerary: Osaka & Kyoto | PHP 21,000 ALL-IN | Budget Travel Guide

5D4N Japan Itinerary: Osaka & Kyoto | PHP 21,000 ALL-IN | Budget Travel Guide

This was our most awaited trip, Japan! We were very excited since this is the very first international flight we will ever have. The enthusiasm, the eagerness, we are so stoked for this moment. We will get to see castles, temples, shrines, and other things we only get to see in anime. We will get to hear Japanese people talk everywhere, how their culture was like or how they will act around foreign people.

One highlight of this trip is our trip to Kinosaki Onsen. A town that is famous for their old style homes and hot springs! Yes, my friend, Kinosaki is a Hot Spring town and most people are wearing Yukatas or Kimono! Wow! Book your Kimono / Yukata’s here.pan itinerary

But anyway, let’s skip with the formalities. Here’s a more detailed and arranged presentation of when and where were we in Japan and how much did it cost, well, for me. I managed to spend a little less on my Japan trip and I had not known anyone before even getting there.

So yeah, basically, there was no free accommodation, no free meals and no free tour and tour guide for us. We did this all by ourselves, booked our accommodation, looked for places to go, ate whenever and whatever we want and stuff you could only do when no one knows you in the vicinity.  Japan 5D4N itinerary

Here’s an advice, if you are going to other countries and you are quite the backpacker, might as well pack some food from your origin country. This will help you save up on your food expenses. We didn’t bring any food from PH so it’s a real hard choice for us on what to eat and where. If we have brought food, expenses would have been lower. 😉 Japan 5D4N itinerary

How did I manage it? Check our complete Japan 5D4N itinerary and expenses below! japan itinerary

Japan Itinerary - twobudgettravelers.com
How I Spent only 21,000 for a 5D4N Trip to Japan

Note:
This was when PHP to JPY was 0.38
Shopping/pasalubong expenses excluded.
Only for Osaka and Kyoto area.
This only accounts for me.

See? Return ticket flight, visa processing fee and accommodations were already included in the list and the total cost is less than 21,000 Php ($450+)! Japan 5D4N itinerary

How did we get the cheap flight?

Simple. Wait for promo fares. This was a promo fare from Cebu Pacific where Japan and other international destinations were just 1,000 Php per way. We booked 9 months before the actual flight date. The longer the date, the cheaper the flight fare. 😉 This applies to all destinations if there are promos. japan itinerary

So in this article, my shopping expenses aren’t included. But I wouldn’t want to tell you that the chocolate prices in this country are very CHEAP! Your 380 Php (depends on the exchange rates) can buy 3 packs or so of chocolate! Choose the best, but everything was just so delicious and you can’t resist if you love chocolates that much.

I also would like to advise you guys, we had enjoyed Japan in a span of 5 days but I’m sure we would have enjoyed more if we stayed a little longer, yeah, like 2 weeks! And uhm, do not restrict your budget to 21,000 Php! Why? You’ll be somehow restricting yourself from the great foods and cuisines that are presented on the table! 21k is the basic budget on our itinerary to enjoy our 5D4N stay in the country. 🙂 So get your luggage ready and spend two weeks (or more!) in this awesome country! CED Villas, El Nido: Modern Bahay-Kubo, 10mins away from Las Cabanas Resort!

CED Villas located in Taytay-El Nido National Highway, Sitio Bubolongan, Barangay Corong Corong,  is a rustic “plain and rural” accommodation that is only 5-10 mins away from the famous Las Cabanas Resort in El Nido, Palawan. You may call it the “modern bahay-kubo” villa.

CED Villas - www.twobudgettravelers.com

This type of unique villas is what’s booming right now. They offer low-cost, traditional, old style – kinda look for your room on the outside with an old to modern experience on the inside. The rooms or villa as they call it is made out of furnished nipa hut and wood (or bahay-kubo style, in Filipino terms). It boasts of a classic-pinoy style of living that makes it different compared to other accommodations in the vicinity.

The Location and How to Get There

CED Villas - www.twobudgettravelers.com

CED Villas - www.twobudgettravelers.com

You’ll definitely be coming from town proper when you arrive in El Nido from Puerto Princesa. From the bus terminal, you will have to ask a tricycle driver to drive you off to Brgy. Bubolongan and drop you off just before the basketball court or tell them to drop you off at Bayview Hotel and get picked up by CED Villas transport service. From our experience, Conrad, the proprietor of CED Villas, picked us up in front of Bayview Hotel.

From El Nido bus terminal, it’ll cost you about 50-100 pesos ($1-$2) to get to the villa. The best spot for CED Villas was its proximity to Las Cabanas, just 5-10 mins away, where more and more tourist goes day by day. Commuting is quite challenging during the night but there definitely are no problems within the day. CED Villas is the only rustic hotel accommodation in the area and they are already making a name because of it. The location isn’t bad, but if you are going to commute every day from town proper to villa, it’ll cost you bucks.

The Experience with CED Villas

CED Villas - www.twobudgettravelers.com

CED Villas - www.twobudgettravelers.com

We were welcomed by Conrad, the owner of CED Villas, upon our arrival in Bayview Hotel from being in town proper. After 5 to 10 mins, we’re already at the villa. It was their first week of service and we’re one of the first people to use their facilities. We will be staying for 2 days.

Suite 2 was the one designated for us. We’re both excited. We know it’s gonna be a unique experience with such a unique accommodation. The villa itself isn’t developed yet but they’re getting there. No paved pathways outside but they do have concrete pathways inside to avoid mud getting inside the room.

Each room has its own porch where you can sit and stay while thinking how good life is and how serene it is in the villa. Here’s where we will be eating our breakfast. Scenic indeed! Inside the room is a simple setup of furniture. The bed is comfortable and they have this elegant-looking mosquito net for it. A ceiling fan and an air conditioner are also available for guests’ comfort when it becomes hot.

During the time we were there, they have not developed a hot and cold shower yet, but maybe they’ll install one as part of the project. By that, we had no choice but to bath with very cold water. Not bad for a hot day, but it was raining when we were there so the temperature was low.

Internet was fine, though. It can get you to most sites but expect that the signal was slow and low. They only have the wireless fidelity (WiFi) available and no cable connections. Mobile signal was a struggle as well. It was hard to get a single bar of hope, you’d need to change locations. You’re gonna experience rural living here. They didn’t put up television on rooms because CED Villas want rural experience for consumers, but there is one on the bar or reception area where travelers can mingle and jingle together.

During the night, Jane told me that it’s already cold in the room so we had to switch off air conditioning and ceiling fan. But then, mosquitos are everywhere so we had to be inside the elegant-looking mosquito net. The villa’s backyard is a forest so expect that there are mosquitos and other insects anywhere. Again, the villa is still in the development stage. Soon, they’re going to build a pool with a clear view of the forest. Can’t wait to go back for that!

Breakfast is being served at 9 am or when you are already awake. Every day is different but often times, they serve pancakes. Yum!

How to Earn Easy Money While You’re Busy Traveling

To many of us, traveling the world can seem like a pipe dream. Every day, you look through your Instagram feed, some of the users relaxing on some exotic beach or exploring a city while all you do is sit and stare at your diminished bank balance.
Ah, money.
However, times are changing, and it’s time to turn that pipe dream into a reality. If money’s an issue, here are several awesome ways to make money on the road, while you’re off to explore the world we live in.

Earn Money While Traveling

Teach People English

Teach English - https://twobudgettravelers.com

This is one of the oldest and most repeatedly proven methods of earning money abroad. Before you start traveling, get yourself a TEFL degree (don’t worry, it’s not like a university degree) and you’ll be fully qualified to work in school, or to host language classes, around the world. Earn Money While Traveling
Typically, you’ll be teaching students in school but if there’s someone who wants to learn and teach English, why shouldn’t it be you? You can even use tools such as Skype to conduct a one-on- one session where you can charge what you like!

Become a Freelancer

Become a freelancer - https://twobudgettravelers.com

One of the easiest ways to earn money while you’re traveling is to become a freelancer. Maybe you’ve got a knack for graphic design, photography or writing. Earn Money While Traveling
Using websites such as Upwork and People Per Hour, you can find a tonne of businesses and individuals who’re looking for people like you to work for them. More times than not, all you’ll need is your laptop, meaning you can work from anywhere. In short, if you take your computer traveling with you, there are infinite ways to earn money as you go!
Maria R. Berry, a webmaster for Top Canadian Writers who frequently travels, exclaims; “I love my job and wouldn’t give it up for the world. However, I also love to travel, to explore and to go on new adventures. Since technology is becoming more and more refined, purposeful and accessible, I’ve found I can accomplish more and more tasks just on my computer, meaning I can work anywhere in the world!”

Working Abroad

Work Abroad - https://twobudgettravelers.com

Working from a laptop may give you freedom when it comes to what hours you can work and where but it’s not your only option. There’s no reason why you can’t apply to work in hotels and bars in your desired destinations. Not only is this a great way to make money, but you’ll also meet a tonne of new people!
However, it’s essential that you check to see whether you need a working visa, or similar document, to work in a country that’s not your home. Earn Money While Traveling

Become a Reviewer

become a reviewer - https://twobudgettravelers.com

Now, if you’re off traveling, the chances are that you won’t be able to become a lucrative product reviewer since you won’t have a fixed address. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t rate online services and websites.
Internet users don’t want to buy something unless it’s been tested and reviewed for its credibility. It would be your job you write reviews for websites, such as Best Australian Writers or Best British Essays, regarding your experience with a website service. Again, all you need is a laptop, so this is the ideal job for traveling.

Become an Academic Writer

acedemic writer - https://twobudgettravelers.com
If you’re reading this, then the chances are that you’ve been through school and you may not have looked back in some time. However, it’s time to pull your dusty knowledge to the forefront of your mind. There are students all over the world who need help with essay writing. If they’re willing to pay, why can’t it be you writing them? Earn Money While Traveling
This is the ideal opportunity, especially if you already have some academic writing experience. There are so
many places you can start, so it’s worth searching online for more information.

How to Maintain Healthy Habits While Traveling

While traveling can be a wonderful experience filled with all kinds of fabulous opportunities, it isn’t always the best environment for sticking with your healthy habits. Those same healthy lifestyle choices and habits you use at home may not be so easy to come by while on holidays.
But just because it’s difficult to maintain, it doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Sometimes it takes a little creative thinking and planning to ensure you keep up with your healthy habits.
To help make things a little smoother, here’s a look at how you can maintain your healthy lifestyle habits while you’re traveling.
how-to-maintain-healthy-habits-while-traveling

Keep Up with Your Regular Sleep Schedule

It can be tempting to stay up late every night, out partying, checking out different restaurants, or simply hanging out around the pool, but all those late nights are going to start to wear you down. If you were at home, it’s not likely you’d be up late each night, partying until the wee hours of the morning.

READ: Dangerous Health Symptoms Travellers Should Be Aware Of

While one night here and there is no big deal, in general it’s best to try to keep up with your regular sleep schedule while on holidays.
So, what happens if you’re having problems getting a good night’s sleep? What if you have an actual medical issue that is making sleep a problem? One common problem is snoring, which can actually interrupt your sleep and at the very least chip away at your sleep quality.
You may want to look into a snoring product that offers a slew of benefits that allows you to breathe easier, and stop the snoring.

Keep Up with Regular Eating Habits

how-to-maintain-healthy-habits-while-traveling
Another area that people often go off track with, is with their eating. It could be that you are indulging in more sweets, high calorie meals, and just heavier greasier items, or maybe it’s the fact you’re filling your plate with a larger quantity versus what you’d do at home.

READ : 7 Must-Do Things To Increase Immune System When Traveling

When it comes to vacations and food, there is nothing wrong with sampling the local cuisine and treating yourself to items here and there, but it shouldn’t be on the daily at each and every meal. All that will happen is you’ll start to feel weighed down, uncomfortable, and then low on energy. You certainly don’t want to miss out on vacation experiences because you felt too tired after a big meal.
A good tip to use is to keep up with three regular sized meals, filled with healthy options. You can also have a couple of snacks a day, but again, try to make wise choices with the food. Maybe treat yourself to one indulgence per day so you don’t feel as though you’re missing out.

Stay Active While on Holidays

how-to-maintain-healthy-habits-while-traveling
Some holidays are centered around activity and constant movement, whereas others are all about rest and relaxation. A beach vacation at an all-inclusive club is the perfect example of these rest and relaxation style holidays.
While that is certainly great to do, again it’s about moderation. You still need to be active during the day, even if it’s just 30 minutes of physical activity.

READ: 4 Things New Travelers Should Know

Keep in mind that physical activity can mean things like going for a walk, swimming, snorkeling, biking, hiking, or any other activity that gets you up and moving. The idea is to elevate your heart rate and burn off some energy and calories. You’ll find you are more energized after a workout, which helps to keep you in a great mood.

Your Personal Health Shouldn’t Be Forgotten

At the end of the day, a vacation is the perfect time to escape the daily grind, but there are certain aspects of your life – such as healthy habits – that shouldn’t be ignored.

Photoworld Asia 2019: Changing the World through Photography

Photography has been quite well known to trigger emotions, to disseminate information without words, to manipulate data without facts, to unravel facts to reveal the truth, and has been used widely to create awareness whether it be for a person, a place, or the reality. Photographs always have been a powerful weapon as it reveals almost anything and could be used where to beautify one thing or crush the other.
In this view, a conference that I had recently attended speaks about photography, the good, the bad, and how do we improve our works. It is an event where fresh and experienced photographers collide to create an exciting atmosphere discussing how can we work better on making beautiful photos, how can we inspire more people with our photographs, and how can we become better at what we do.

Photoworld Asia 2019

photoworld-asia-2019-changing-the-world-through-photography
Photoworld Asia 2019 is currently the longest-running photography event in Southeast Asia, now on its 11th year.
The speakers for this year’s event were all dominated by female photographers and mentors who are experienced with their craft.

Personal Branding as a Photographer

RC Sustiguer, the first speaker who is a part of Maxwell Group, talked about “Personal Branding as a Photographer”. She shared her expertise in creating a name for a brand in the industry but is recognized mostly for her coaching capabilities, drawing a person’s inner talent to produce results.
photoworld-asia-2019-changing-the-world-through-photography
RC mentioned that a photographer must learn about himself first before learning the technicalities. One must also learn about self-value and unleash the creativity that’s within oneself. Personal branding is the act of developing the strategy or actions to guide your brand. The most important thing one must do is to become a leader and embrace leadership. The results will depend on the level of preparation and to be credible, you must have the integrity to commit and choose for the better.

Social Media Publishing

The second speaker, Geli Blanco, talked about “Social Media Publishing” and how you can use Social Media to create and expand your brand. Geli was the genius behind one of the most successful Coca-cola campaigns.
Geli mentioned that one must post relevant and timely updates on your personal or page profiles. One must also provide accurate information. Photographers must reach out to their audience. Provide an eye-catching display of information. One must also master the platform (especially FB pages) and lastly, one must track and measure his page or posts.
When you are communicating using social media, you must be authentic, you must be personal. Do educate people and don’t sell, hard. In order to attain success, he/she must always plan ahead.

Mobile Phone Photography

Vivian Valdes is a well-recognized photographer using her phone’s lenses. She has already caught attention in social media and even Nat Geo regarding her photography skills and sold over $400 worth of photos online.
She explained that in mobile photography, one does not need a more expensive phone to take good photos. All it takes is the eye and the know-how about mobile cameras. One good example she discussed was about how similar the lenses of a less expensive phone and a more expensive phone with a known brand name. Vivian has also been mostly using her first camera phone, a MyPhone brand, in most of her photography until now.

Natural Light Portraiture

On the second day, the first speaker was Andrea Genota, a newbie in the world of photography but is well recognized for the beauty of her photos. She discussed how to use natural light in taking better photographs.
photoworld-asia-2019-changing-the-world-through-photography
She mentioned that it’s best to take photos especially portraits when it’s early in the morning at around 6 am to 9 am, and before sunset, usually takes place at around 4 pm to 5:30 pm. The ray of sunlight isn’t harsh and is the perfect blend for the skin. She added that in taking portrait shots, one must build rapport with the model and direct him/her on what to do. The biggest part of doing portrait shots is the post-processing of photos to make it look better.

Empowerment through innovation in the world of Print

This subject in the conference was discussed by Lisa Watson of HP Indigo Asia Pacific and Japan. She mentioned that as the world changes, the innovation in print changes as well. They have developed new colors to work with photographs and new printers to work with the latest technology. Although social media has been a greater part in publishing, the print remains as it was the world’s foundation of photographs in the old and new generation.

Underwater Photography

In underwater photography, Peachy Hernando spoke about the basics to the advanced techniques in diving, equipment, requirements, and how to take a good photo underwater.
photoworld-asia-2019-changing-the-world-through-photography
Underwater photography is not a cheap hobby. It requires you to gather the skills first, then the equipment especially for diving, and the equipment when you are doing photography. Before you could also dive well in the deep, you have to acquire licenses that enable you to dive freely in the water. Underwater photography is a fun thing and a curious thing to do as you will be able to see the life underwater, learn from it, and know more about the aquatic resources.

Boudoir Photography

Boudoir photography was headed by the Actress-Model Rachel Lobangco.
photoworld-asia-2019-changing-the-world-through-photography
Previously, she was the subject of the photoshoots but since then, she has developed a love for photography. Now she’s one of the most sought after photographers in the industry of concept photography. She demonstrated the art of boudoir photography where everyone seemed to have enjoyed.

Telling Stories through Photography

In Photoworld Asia 2019’s 3rd day of the conference held in Makati, the talk was started by Hannah Morales.
Hannah Reyes Morales is a photographer whose photos are already telling a story. She is also a part of the National Geographic where she had published an article last December for her work on Filipino Diaspora. She shared her thoughts and story during the talk and mentioned that photography is a way of connecting and it is a direct confrontation to the world.

Fashion and Advertising

Shaira Luna was the child genius who was very well known to people in the early 90’s due to a commercial she was a part of. She spends most of her time now as a photographer for magazines and fashion shoots for advertisements. Shaira is now a celebrity photographer for well-known fashion brands and magazines in the advertising industry and has been featured a lot because of her well-recognized talent in photography.
She mentioned she likes being creative and that helped her catch her dreams and turn them into reality.

Photojournalism

Joan Bondoc, who talked about Photojournalism, shared her experiences from being staff to well-recognized photography in the industry of photojournalism. She has been a big part of the history from the day she started taking photos. Her works convey a lot of emotions and manipulative (perspective) photos may it be the president, rallyist, or ordinary working people.

8 Things Learned from Photography

Jaja Samaniego, a wedding and events photographer, shared stories and her learning from being in the photography field for quite some time. As a wedding photographer, she had already witnessed a lot of emotions and her works in the wedding photography scene are exceptional. She captures moments that are important with clients and does it excellently.
photoworld-asia-2019-changing-the-world-through-photography
In photography, there will always be something new to learn. It’s just like every profession where everything starts with curiosity. Let your creativity crawl to your mind. Make a lot of mistakes and use them to benefit in the future by not letting yourself do the same mistakes again. If you are stuck, try to learn new things and you’ll eventually make progress.
PhotoWorld Asia 2019 was organized by the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation (FPPF), spearheaded by its President, Mr. Pablo Beltran, and Chairman, Eduviges Huang. Learn more about photography, visit Photoworld Manila.

Corregidor Island Siargao: What to Expect and Do

One of the highlights of our Siargao trip together with the Jeepsetters Team is when we had our Tri-Island tour, Naked, Daku, and Guyam Island with Corregidor Island tour. I wasn’t able to ask why it was named as Corregidor Island but I’m very sure it’s totally different from the one in Luzon. Corregidor Island could also be known as the Batanes-feels of Siargao.
We were actually picking if we’re to go to Sohoton Cove + Bucas Grande or Corregidor Island, but since it’s not much the season for jellyfish (where Bucas Grande is well-known for), we opted for Corregidor Island courtesy of GotMarked Tours, managed by a good friend, Mark Roa.

Corregidor Island: Start of Island Tour

The quaint island of Corregidor is located around one (1) hour from the Boulevard, where all island tours start.
We started our day going to Boulevard at around 7:00 AM. Had our quick coffee and breakfast which only cost us around Php 50 each. After a while, Karl, our tour guide, went over and greeted us, and waited for us to finish so we could start with the tour as time easily slips by. When everyone is finished with their meals, we head off to the registration and then the boat. Corregidor Island Siargao
The boulevard itself has stunning crystal clear waters and white sand already, if it’s not beside the wet market, we think we would want to swim and stay there for a while. When we were all hopped in on the boat, our tour guide made some points about what we will do for today and where we will be.
Our first stop would be Corregidor Island, then Naked Island, Daku Island, and Guyam Island by the afternoon.

Corregidor Beach in Corregidor Island

After a mere one (1) hour of boat travel, we arrived at Corregidor Island at SEArenity Shore Beach Resort. We occupied a cottage, which is also a part of what we paid for and will be there up until noontime for lunch.

corregidor-island-siargao-what-to-expect-and-do
We took our time to quite enjoy the beach, the fine white sand we are in, and the turquoise blue waters in front of us. Islands in this part of the Philippines truly are a piece of gem, and the Philippines is the biggest gem in itself. We took our time to take photos, of us, and our friends. After a short while, Karl told us if we would want to go hike, just let him know.
corregidor-island-siargao-what-to-expect-and-do

In Google Maps, the island is named as Casolian Island, but locals and tour operators refer to it as Corregidor Island.

The Hike to the Batanes Feels of Siargao

corregidor-island-siargao-what-to-expect-and-do
Karl asked one local to be our guide in this hike, the Batanes Feels of Siargao needed a short hike in order to get to the highest part of the island where there’s a 360-degree view of the area. Corregidor Island Siargao
When we started hiking, I’m actually surprised there was a huge community on the island. We passed by houses that were built in concrete, and an Iglesia ni Cristo church at the middle of the grassy road. The grassy road is like a peaceful part of the community, totally different from the sandy roads of other islands. This one is with bermudagrass growing everywhere. It’s actually like more magical if there were butterflies flying around.

A few minutes more, we started ascending to the summit, but it won’t be noted as a mountain climb, but rather a trek. The hills in this land are like landscaped, having the highest hill the views of the island. It was a trek with scorching heat, and so if one had not worn any sun protection, that one is doomed, or rather getting more melanin that what one is supposed to.
At the middle of the island where this hill lies, a great view is hovering in the field, and each angle is like picture-perfect. It’s a photographer’s delight to see such land. Not vast but from the horizon, you’d see the sun and the sea.
corregidor-island-siargao-what-to-expect-and-do
The most notable tree you can find on this island are the coconut trees displaying at the start of the horizon. Our guide told us one of the most photographed areas in the land, that one where Instagrammers are climbing up to get a shot. A coconut tree that is inclined and displayed at a perfect spot, like it was grown and designed to be the most photographed tree of all.

The Inclined Coconut Tree

Not far from the inclined coconut tree spot is another hill with coconut trees displayed like a painting in the background. One of the many areas where Instagrammers are gathering to take a good photo. Corregidor Island Siargao

Our guide said there is another spot to go but our group, and most of our friends are hungry and thirsty as we weren’t informed the trek will be long and we did not also expect that the sun will rise this high and mighty. That spot was where the stairs are located.

So we all went back after a group decision. We were then divided into two groups but the other one with no guide to go back from where we came from. The guide was walking with the girls on the first group and the second group didn’t know they were already left behind because they kept on talking more pictures while walking. So Franco and I decided to stay in the middle and waited for a little while so we could keep the left-behind group in check.
Feeling so irritated from the heat and turn of events and our guide not being a ‘guide’, my friend who’s with me became a little pissed at him. But while he was taking his time cursing the guide, I became a look-out for the second group so they won’t get lost. They found us waving at them and finally, we got a hold of them, not knowing anything from what happened there for a second. Anyway, both groups were then gathered again and we started walking back altogether to the shore.

When we got back, a perfect treat was waiting in front of us. Karl was waving and our food was already served at the table. A boodle setup with rice put into words “SIARGAO” surrounded by seafood, chicken, and fruits. A few ice-cold Coca-cola and Royal soft drinks were also waiting for us. It was an after hike delight!
We felt so refreshed and regenerated after a great meal. Oh, by the way, this type of meal served is only available when you opt for the Corregidor Island tour with Tri-Island tours.

5 Safety Tips While You’re Traveling

Safety is a significant question when speaking about traveling. Traveling takes you anywhere and anywhere, there could be possible dangers. Every single time a person is traveling, that person is also at risk. Some people do not think of these vulnerabilities until it happens to them. safety tips travel
I have spoken to a friend who has been severely injured while doing cliff jumps. Now, he can’t do any more cliff jumps because the last jump he had made his spinal cord dislocated, fortunately, he was still alive. At the first few days, he couldn’t get to feel his feet, he couldn’t walk, he couldn’t move a single finger because of the injury, lucky for him, he still recovered. He still keeps on traveling but never did cliff jumping again.

5 Safety Tips While You’re Traveling

These tips here are based on my own experience and the people who I talked with.

1. Send your parents a message or leave an itinerary before going out

5 Safety Tips While You're Traveling - https://twobudgettravelers.com
This one is often neglected. Even though we are already adults and thinks that our parents don’t care about us anymore, you are entirely wrong. At the back of their minds, they are wondering where you are and if you are still doing okay and if you are safe. A single message telling them that you are well will help ease their minds and move at their own comfort. This doesn’t apply to moms alone, this applies even to your brothers, sisters, friends you trust, and your other relatives.

2. Keep your eyes on the road and not on your phone

This goes especially for the drivers. If you are driving, surely you have to focus on the road or else you’d be heading to the hospital for fractured bones or unconsciousness plus giving you more headache because of the hospital bills and the amount you have to pay for your car to be repaired.
While you are walking, stop if you are going to use your phone. If your phone captured too much of your attention and you still keep on walking, you could bump into anyone or anything leading to extra damages. Pause if you are about to cross the street, you might not notice if it’s okay to cross or not since you are too much focused on your phone screen. safety tips travel

3. Check your surroundings

[hoops name=”InArticle”]
I’m not gonna tell you to do this every single time but you have to know that not every people we come across are always the good guys especially if you are traveling on your own. I think that you have to be precautious about just anything. If you suspect or feel that something is not right, obey your instincts. If you feel you are not safe, look for a more secure place like a crowded street or stay a while inside a restaurant until you are feeling safe.

4. Do not connect to unsecured hotspots5 Safety Tips While You're Traveling - https://twobudgettravelers.com

In this age of the internet where you can find hotspots anywhere and your important data is mostly stored on your phone, you have to be very vigilant. I suggest that you should not connect to public and unsecured wifi hotspots as these could lead to a breach of data in your smartphone and internet hacking. Do you want to lose your private passwords and some money in your accounts? I bet not! safety tips travel

5. Bring a local friend with you

It always pays to have a local friend to join you on your journey. Not only you could get to check out some hidden spots in a certain place, he also knows how to keep you safe. Traveling with a local is like giving yourself some assurance and security that you won’t run into troubles because someone familiar with the place is there with you. A local companion is best especially on trips to another land where you are not known by anyone.
5 Safety Tips While You're Traveling - https://twobudgettravelers.com
These safety tips could definitely give you a boost when you are traveling. It pays to know what to do before heading on to a journey to the unknown. It’s okay to be spontaneous, it’s okay to always experience the fun and excitement, but it’s not okay when everything goes right out of hand. Safety should always be a traveler’s number one priority.  safety tips travel

Biggest Signs That Let You Know It’s Definitely Time For a Vacation

Biggest Signs That Let You Know It’s Definitely Time For a Vacation

Can you sit back and recall the last time you went on a vacation? And not a vacation where you stayed at home and cleaned up the entire time… a real vacation where you left your town, hopped on a plane and soaked up the sun on a beach? If it took you more than three seconds to think, then you’re long overdue for a vacation.
3-ideas-for-a-luxury-winter-vacation-getaway
To be fair, everyone’s vacation availability is different but for most jobs, you have to works so many hours before you can accumulate vacation time to use and if you don’t use it, you lose it. So, because a lot of people have to build up vacation time, they’ll forego using it until they’re able to use the amount they want… but that also means going months without a mental break and that can take a huge toll on the quality of your work as well as your productivity.

READ: 4 Best Tips to Travel on a Budget

There are also jobs that guarantee you a set amount of vacation hours once you’ve been with the company for a year. After you’ve hit that year mark and the second year rolls around, you’re guaranteed a certain amount of hours. The issue with this is that just because you’re guaranteed those hours, doesn’t mean you’ll get approved to use them for the time frame you want.
This isn’t because your boss doesn’t like you or anything like that (typically), it’s because businesses have seasons. There are times of the year when business is booming and then there are times of the year when business is slow, so when business is booming, the company is going to want all hands on deck and any vacation time during those times probably won’t get approved, so just keep that in mind.

britannica.com

Regardless of the company’s seasons, that’s no excuse to not go on a vacation. Some people have the mindset of if they can’t go on a vacation when they want, they just won’t go at all, and that’s the worst approach to have. Taking that approach isn’t going to do anything but make you slack off at work and resent your bosses… it’s going to have a negative effect on your mental and physical health.

READ: Seven Tips for Boosting Your Energy When on Vacation

According to research from Psychology Today, vacations significantly reduce stress levels and 81% of managers surveyed in the study confirmed that vacations also reduced burnout in employees… If you know anything about burnout, then you know that if it’s ignored it can cause serious and even life-changing physical, mental, and emotional health problems.
So instead of ignoring the signs, how about paying attention to what your mind and body are telling you. If you’re experiencing as little as one of these signs, then you know it’s time for a getaway, even if it’s only for a weekend, any little time you can have to escape all your stressors is going to help tremendously.

Sign #1: Your Life Outside of Work Revolves Around Work

top-6-travel-essentials-for-expert-packers
So you’ve just spent eight or more hours at work only to get off, come home, and talk about work. You’re not sure when it happened but you’ve stopped doing the fun hobbies and activities you used to enjoy and because you’ve dedicated so much of your time to your job, you don’t have the energy or motivation to do anything else… this is why any conversations you have with anyone is centered around work.
“Your job should be paying rent every month for all the mental space it’s using in your head!”
*If someone has jokingly told you that, then you definitely know it’s time for a vacation… and possibly even a new job*
When your life gets to this point, you might need more than a vacation… it seriously might be time to look into other employment options. Lots of people who’ve found themselves in this stage in their life have looked into the digital nomad lifestyle.

READ: How To Save Yourself Stress When Moving

As a digital nomad, you’re able to travel and make money while traveling, as long as you have access to the internet. Ideally, you’ll want to at least start off with an e-commerce store and look into obtaining a professional liability insurance policy, first and foremost. But do your research on digital nomadism and see if it’s a lifestyle you can adopt… With that, your conversations about work would at least be about how you couldn’t decide which swimsuit or swim trunk to wear for the workday!

Sign #2: You’re Adopting Unhealthy Habits to Cope

5-tips-for-staying-healthy-while-traveling-the-world
Photo by Yuris Alhumaydy on Unsplash

Have you noticed that as soon as you’re off of work, you’re heading to buy wine or bourbon? Maybe you’re putting more junk food in your grocery basket as of late… A lot of people who are stressed from work or from other aspects of their life have the tendency to cope with their issues in unhealthy ways. You may not realize it initially but once you feel your stress levels rising, try paying close attention to your daily routine and habits and see if you notice any changes… you can even ask friends or family to pay attention as well.

Sign #3: You’re Not Sleeping Well

Sleep is something that everyone needs to function throughout the day and without it, life can get very hard. Stress is one of the main culprits of loss of sleep. Whether you toss and turn in your sleep, snore, or are wake up in the middle of the night, all of those symptoms are a direct result of stress… This can cause you to need to see a sleep specialist or again, you might need a change in work environments.

COFFEE PROJECT: Your “Instagramable” Cafe in the Metro

A place for unwinding and chill, a place to just relax and chat with friends, our favorite place away from home, a coffee shop. Here, we spend most of our time after office or even stop for a while to get to sip a favorite cup of coffee.

Coffee Project - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Coffee shops are now a trend. From the overwhelming branches of Starbucks and a few more hype coffee shops, here comes another one to achieve a place in the battlefield – COFFEE PROJECT. If you are such a coffee lover, here are some questions that a coffee lover knows how to answer.

One Thursday morning, I and my friends (Lhicel, Kristine, Nitchelyn, and Tanya) with my girlfriend, Jane, gathered for a special meeting. It has been long since we met and at most times, we spend this time on coffee shops, chatting and talking about new things and future endeavors. Two of them are working in the building where the cafe is located at and they both suggested to meet at Coffee Project in Shaw, Mandaluyong.

Coffee Project - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Design and Interiors

Overwhelmed by how lovely their interior was, we immediately put our phones out from our pockets and started taking photos of this cute, err lovely cafe interiors. Greeting friends afterward.

The scenery felt like we were in a garden, but we’re actually inside a coffee shop. In the ceiling hangs those green and yellow leaves which are of course pleasing to the eyes. Green helps our eyes to maintain focus. With calming lights added, the place is an absolute dream.

One thing you’ll notice is the abundance of flowers in the area. From their ceiling to the side decors, flowers are spotted everywhere. Truly perfect for your Instagram scenes.

Bird cages are also part of the design, however, there are no birds inside to delight you. Just a decor for your lovely eyes (and picture perfect poses).

Bicycles are part of the interior layout as well, but they are static. They can’t be hopped on as they are attached to the wall or above your table. A cool addition to the garden feels inside.

Not just the dining area made us overwhelmed. If you’re gonna take a dump or cleanse your hands, their comfort room is the best place for you. I wasn’t able to take a photo but I’m sure you’d be delighted as much as we were when we saw how neat looking was their comfort room. Even this part here was Instagram worthy.

WiFi in the cafe was also available. To get a password, ask your Barista for it. Speed was just okay, it’ll keep you connected on Facebook and Instagram.

Specialty and Delectable Menu

Let’s now go to their specialty, coffee, pastries, pasta, and breakfast menu. Coffee Project offers specialty or third wave coffees. But they do have the second wave coffees too, just like those you can savor from Starbucks. Take a look at their menu here.

Since it was morning, a few of my friends ordered the breakfast bestseller, the Beef Tapa. While I ordered an Arrabiatta. Of course, all of these were partnered with Coffee Project’s coffee and non-coffee specialties like Ice Blended Green Macha, Hot Espresso Roast, Cafe Mocha, and a few more after the first serving. We had two servings of coffee each. Their roast was good. Perfect for tired eyes and cold temperature in the cafe.

Coffee Project - www.twobudgettravelers.com

The place and almost every corner of it were Instagram-able. You will never get tired of the place and would want to stay longer if possible. With the calming background music, you truly will experience a relaxing coffee treat.

Coffee Project has plenty of branches now from all over the Metro. This branch we were in was located at Worldwide Corporate Center in Shaw Boulevard across Starmall. You may check out their other branches as well.

Coffee Project - www.twobudgettravelers.com

P.S. This is a good place not only for friends but for those with partners too!
