8 Spots to See in Singapore (If You Have Limited Time)

If you have been following this blog, you knew that we only had a 2N1D stay in Singapore on our 9 days backpacking because time wasn’t enough. On our last day, Singapore was the only country left unexplored.

Jane, who had been to Singapore twice knew better places than me so I am stoked to be guided by her in this trip! Oh, and if you have enough time, you better prepare your Singapore itinerary by reading guides and blogs.

If you haven’t booked your hotels yet, better do it as early as now. Check out discounted hotel rates here.

We checked out from Amrise Hotel early and headed straight to Changi Airport. There, we had our bags put into the Left Baggage counter and paid for the service for each bag. We did this so we won’t have to bring our (heavy) bags all the way to the places we will be.

Here are 8 places you could go on a day trip to Singapore.

1. Marina Bay Sands (Gardens by the Bay)

  • Gardens by the Bay is a nature park with 250 acres of land. The nature park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden, and Bay Central Garden. You can get a map on the station or you may also check the signs to get to your desired destination inside the garden. People say that this garden is best visited at night, which apparently I wasn’t able to do because flight back home is 6:55 pm.
  • From Changi Airport, buy a ticket to Bayfront or Marina Bay station and either interchange from Paya Lebar or Bugis. [hoops name=”InArticle”]

2. ArtScience Museum

  • This museum is still located in the Marina Bay Sands. When you got out from the gardens, lay your eyes and imaginative senses on ArtScience Museum. The logo is like a lotus flower, hence, you’ll be seeing lots of lotus flowers planted around the museum. The flower is also referred to as “The Welcoming Hand of Singapore”. Ticket depends on what attraction you would like to go to. For ticketing prices, please refer to this link.

3. The Float at Marina Bay

The Float - 8 Spots in Singapore - https://twobudgettravelers.com

  • It is also known as Marina Bay Floating Platform and this the world’s largest floating stage. The floating stadium will be a venue for events on the waters of Marina Bay for five years from 2007. These events may include sports, concerts, exhibitions, and the arts and cultural performances. By the time we were there, the event was for the Chinese New Year. You can walk from the ArtScience Museum to The Float.

4. Merlion Park

Merlion Park - 8 Spots in Singapore - https://twobudgettravelers.com
Merlion Park
  • One of the famous landmarks in Singapore. A definitely must-visit area for tourists alike. The Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion’s head (Lion) and the body of a fish (Mermaid/Merman) that is widely used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore.

5. Esplanade Park

  • The Esplanade Park is one of the oldest parks in Singapore. Many historical landmarks are located in this area but we didn’t spend so much time here.

6. Sentosa

  • Having the lack of time to explore all of Sentosa, we were here for roughly 4-5 hours only. If you have limited time as we had, it would be better to get the Sentosa Day Pass (S$8 each).
  • Once you have your day pass ticket, hop on the Sentosa Monorail and alight at the last station – Sentosa Waterfront station where the (artificial) beaches (Palawan Beach, Tanjung Beach, and Siloso Beach) are located.
  • You can buy tickets later on at the booth located just outside of every attraction.
  • From the Sentosa Waterfront, you can walk to Imbiah Lookout. This is one of the busiest stations in Sentosa as many attractions can be seen here. Madame Tussauds, Sentosa Merlion, Sky Tower and much more are in this area of Sentosa.
  • From Esplanade, buy a ticket to Harbour Front and interchange from Dauby Ghaut station.

7. Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios - 8 Spots in Singapore - https://twobudgettravelers.com

  • A theme park located inside Sentosa. I have been to Universal Studios Japan and I must say I have truly enjoyed my experience there. Universal Studios Singapore is a 20 hectares land with a total of 24 (and counting) different attractions.
  • The park features the world’s tallest pair of dueling roller coasters that are based on the popular television series, Battlestar Galactica; a castle from the world of Shrek and Monster Rock, a live musical show featuring the Universal Monsters.
  • Themed zone includes Hollywood, New York City, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away – The Land of Shrek, and Madagascar. We spent so little time here. We will surely be back to this park! [hoops name=”InArticle”]

8. Bugis Street Market

Bugis Street Market - 8 Spots in Singapore - https://twobudgettravelers.com

  • You know what it means! Shopping!
  • We all know that the prices in Singapore aren’t low. But in Bugis Street Market, you’ll find plenty of goods at a relatively low price (lower than their supermarket). Some items include t-shirts (4 x S$10), Cadbury chocolates (4 x S$10), Swiss Miss chocolate drink (4 boxes x S$10), key chains (26 x S$10), Perfumes (3 x S$10), Toblerone (6x S$10), and few other more items. We spent the last hour here before we checked in at Changi airport.
  • From Harbour Front, buy a ticket to Bugis station and interchange from Little India.

Remember to always pack light and don’t forget to bring an umbrella or towels as you will be walking mostly on landmarks that are not so distant with one another. You can buy a bottle of water or a canned soft drink for only S$1 from the street vendors. That’s the cheapest we could find here.

What could you recommend next time?

How To Add Excitement To Your Healthy Routine

Staying healthy and in shape is the ultimate goal, but it can be tricky to achieve in reality. With busy lives and schedules, many of us lack the time and motivation to go out of our way for workouts, and would rather the ease of convenience food than cook from scratch. Luckily, there are ways you can jazz up your health and fitness routine, take a break from the norm, and inject life back into your schedule. Read on for some ways to stay fit and healthy, without being bored!
How To Add Excitement To Your Healthy Routine

Be Creative With Meals

When life is busy, many of us are guilty of picking the same safe, easy meals time and again. Make a vow to yourself that one night a week you will try something totally different. By making it a challenge, not a chore, you are injecting fun back into the cooking process, as well as having the chance to try something new.
Maybe you attempt to recreate a dish you have enjoyed in a restaurant, rustle up a recommendation from a friend, or get inspired by Pinterest. Making an effort to cook from scratch keeps your cooking skills in good condition, and encourages you to think more carefully about what you are consuming.

Experiment With Smoothies

Smoothies can be an exciting way to add fruit and vegetables to your diet in a tasty and delicious format. If you are not a huge fan of your greens, smoothies allow you to get in the goodness you need in a single drink, and this can be a great way to pack in the good stuff easily. You can play around with different ingredients and combinations to find your ideal recipe, and you will soon be searching for the best quiet blender so that you can enjoy your treat at all hours!

Enjoy Your Workout

Exercise is essential for keeping us slim, trim, and active, but it can be hard to find the motivation. Find a workout you genuinely enjoy, and your life will instantly become easier. If you are bored by the gym, why not check out an active dance class or group activity? If you make your workout something you truly enjoy, you are far more likely to stick to a routine. Experts suggest that we take a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise a day to stay in shape, and combining this with a hobby is the ideal way to help you stick to it.

Make It Fun!

Healthy eating and fitness have become something of a chore recently, and there is a trend to spend time mourning how difficult they are to maintain and fit into a busy life. Make it your mission to tear up this rule book, and find creative ways to incorporate healthier choices into your daily life. Try not to pay too close attention to the rules and advice of other people; just find ways to enjoy a healthy, balanced diet and a way to work up a sweat which works for you and your family. It will help in the long run!

Azalea Boracay: Living It Like You’re In The Metro!

Who said you can’t have a contemporary living like in the metro on an island? Azalea Boracay: Hotels and Residences will give you that immense atmosphere. The feeling of having your own grand abode, living the grand life and worrying nothing but sleep in the secluded and paradise island of Boracay.

Azalea boracay - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Two minutes of stroll away from the beachfront, Azalea Hotels and Residences is advantageously located in Station Two of Boracay. Stress-free walk to revel in your morning dose of sunrise and your afternoon prescription of sunset. You need not hire a cab or expend another dollar just to get to the shore and feel the powdery white sands and aquatic blue waters underneath your feet.

Azalea boracay - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Observing around at the reception area, Azalea Boracay’s colour is pleasing to the eyes. With personnel ready to welcome and serve you anytime, you’d know it’s definitely the best quality of living in the island. The foyer has a comfortable sofa and table for a quick chat and coffee, giving you ease when there are more people queuing for rates and booking a room.

[BOOK FLIGHTS TO BORACAY via SKYSCANNER]

Upon booking, you will own a key bracelet and a key card. Once you have your own key bracelets and key card, you will then proceed to your room escorted by a staff. If you conveyed too many bags for your vacation, worry not for you will be abetted by their friendly staff. You can advance directly to your room and your bags will be delivered right straight to your door.

Azalea boracay - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Kuya J’s restaurant is also located in the middle of Azalea Boracay. If you wish to dine at the restaurant, just tell the security officers and you will be assisted to Kuya J’s restaurant area. You do not need to be a temporary resident of Azalea to come in. If you’re a resident, just come by and order a few delish of your likes.

[hoops name=”InArticle”]

Since we were assisted onto our rooms, we didn’t have a hard time finding it. Our rooms were located on the fifth floor. Upon entry, we were astounded by how efficient was the space and the design of the room. Each space was used to its best. The living room, dining and kitchen are what you will be witnessing upon entry. Each has a place of their own, moving inside isn’t an issue. Convenience is definitely on the top list of their checklist.

Azalea boracay - www.twobudgettravelers.com

We noticed how grand it was inside. Azalea Boracay unquestionably surpassed our anticipations. With 50+ inch TV screen with cable channels, high-speed wireless connection, smooth and comfy sofa in the living area, clear dining table, kitchen with full equipment – coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave oven, and many other peripherals needed for a full stay. You’d feel like having your own luxury comfort. See how grand and in style was that? Check out the photos below for your viewing pleasure.

The room designated for us were with two more bedrooms. Yep, it’s a two-bedroom condominium type. So the room essentially has complete amenities you could ask for – living area, dining area, kitchen area, two bathrooms, and two rooms.

Since there are two bedrooms, there also are two comfort rooms. One is set in the middle of both rooms whereas the other is exclusive in a room. Both rooms have a king size bed, comfort room, wardrobe, and of course, own toiletries.

Inside the wardrobe were hangers, an iron and an iron board, hair blower, shower caps, shaving blade and cream, knitting tools (needle and threads), shoe mitt, vanity kit, sanitary bag, laundry bag, and tooth care kit. All you can ask for! If it happens you already used all up, you can request from the reception.

The bedroom gives you the finest home feeling. The bed was so inviting, plus with the bed lights on, the bed scenery is such a lovely thing to the eyes. You’d really wish you would want to cuddle with your loved one may it be your pet, your boyfriend or girlfriend, best friend, or anyone who first comes to your mind. In my case, I would love to have my girlfriend to snuggle with me all night. Mmm, yes, that kind of feeling, intimate and warm.

The interiors of the bedroom were the best for my taste. I loved how the bed, the curtains, the air conditioning system, the table, drawer, and bed lights, were placed. I’d love to live here for long. I’m sure you would do too, unless you get bored of the scenery, got tired of living on the island and living the grandeur island life. The bathroom is a shaded glass, a very exciting and classy way of taking a bath.

Don’t wanna go out but still would like to swim? They also have an indoor pool on the 6th floor. Open until 10pm.

Hey, what’s not to love with Azalea Boracay? All I can see are the good points they have.

  • Close to the beach and other establishments like bars, clubs, and restaurants.
  • Kuya J’s diner in the centre of the whole Azalea  Boracay establishment.
  • Friendly staffs and inviting lobby.
  • Doors with maximum security and if in case you forgot your keycard, you still have your key bracelet.
  • Stylish living room, kitchen, dining, bathroom, and bedrooms.
  • Bed to wallow you with relaxation.

CALABARZON Food Trip in Celebration of Filipino Food Month | Quezon, Laguna, Rizal

CALABARZON Food Trip in Celebration of Filipino Food Month

Without the alarm on my phone, I think I would wake up by noontime! Thankfully, the buzz on my phone made me get up by 6 am perfect for my plan to do a morning walk. Ouans is made of 11 hectares of land. Only 4 hectares cover the entire accommodation so I was thinking what’s there in the woods. The owner’s daughter told me that there’s a plan to develop Ouan’s farm tourism spot. I admire the tall trees draped by long and thick vines extending down the ground. I wanted to walk further but I can feel my stomach is empty so I went to the place where we are going to eat. Guess what, I was the early bird!

Day 2

calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal

Breakfast at Ouans The Farm Resort

In the morning, we were served buffet breakfast of fried rice, scrambled eggs, Quezon longganisa and the best-tasting tinapa (smoked fish) I have ever eaten for breakfast. I swear! Ouan’s resident restaurant, Grandma’s Kitchen exudes a rustic and cabin atmosphere strategically located where you have the best view of the swimming pool and the surrounding trees.

Brunch at LUISA and Daughter Restaurant

calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal
Luisa and Daughter Restaurant has been serving many kinds of viands in Quezon Province for 30 years. They served dishes that are deemed ahead from other restaurants in the area three decades ago because they already had Thai pancit, Korean Barbecue (bulgogi), tacos and sukiyaki on their menu. However, if there’s one local dish LUISA and Daughter has made a name of is Chami – flat Miki Noodles or Shanghai-style noodles stir-fried or sautéed with meat and vegetables. We were invited to the kitchen where they do all the cooking and demonstrated to us how to cook chami and voila, it only takes less than 10 minutes to finish!
calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal
The “Chami” that they serve warm to their customers do not contain artificial seasoning. It is purely made of “kaldo” or chicken stock. That’s the reason why the taste is authentic and a healthy version. They serve two variations: Chami regular (sweet) and Binalibag sa toyo (spicy). Don’t be surprised why you see beautiful (for sale) paintings hanging on the walls of this restaurant. Luisa and Daughter supports talented and budding artists in their province.

Aside from chami – I suggest pancit Lucban, La Paz batchoy and pancit Molo.

Lunch at Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Restaurant

calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal
Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Restaurant is one perfect spot if you have a foreign friend who is curious about the local dining vibe or a balikbayan relative is looking for a place to eat a myriad of Filipino food he used to eat since birth. Sixty wooden cottages that appear “floating” occupy the 1.5 hectares of land in Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Restaurant. The man-made lake that surrounds these cottages is well-kept that we even saw guys who were able to catch big tilapias using a simple fishing rod. What makes the dining experience here top-notch is a group of guys who hop from one cottage to another singing songs with a guitar and tambourine. It was also very nice to eat “pilipit”, Quezon’s local version of donut made of squash. The last time I ate this was during the Pahiyas Festival four years ago.

calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal
L: Ginataang pako with suso R: Pilipit

Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Restaurant has its own hotel bearing the same name. They have resthouse, deluxe, standard, villa and dormitory type of accommodation. If you want something modern, how about eating inside a refurbished airplane? Not far from Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Restaurant is its sister company Air Summit. Before you get inside, you’ll pass through a mini-airport where you’ll be welcomed by a lady and a gentleman dressed like cabin assistants who will take your order.

Meryenda at Kape Kesada

calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal
Kape Kesada looks like a typical old ancestral house but there’s more than that. Inside, it is a quaint art gallery and cafe founded by an art lover, entrepreneur and dentist. This house back then was a “bahay kubo” or native wooden house but the owner slowly converted this to what it is today from remnants of demolished old houses. Kape Kesada has limited space but the artist managed to include an “outdoor” spot with views of the nearby road. The floor is entirely covered with small pebbles. You can dine here when it is not raining – if not you can move inside.
calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal
We were served “laksa” (made of puso ng or saging banana ‘heart’ plus okra, stringbeans, squash, etc. cooked in coconut cream, “minani” (fried cassava cubes sprinkled with salt) and kalamay (glutinous rice with coconut milk and brown sugar).

What to order:

The ones we tasted are not typically available every day in this cafe. You’ll have to order in advance. They serve sandwiches, Quezon local viands, coffee and more.

Sidetrip #1 – Fruit and Vegetable Carving Demo at Paete’s Municipal Hall

Paete is known for its world-class carvers and carving products. Instead of carving stone or wood, this time we met two locals who hail from Paete. They work in an international ship as chefs and currently on vacation. They showed us their carving skills to make art out of fruits, flowers, and vegetables.
calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal

Sidetrip #2 – Provincial Capitol Building of Quezon Province

It was a pity but the Provincial Capitol Building of Quezon Province is under construction and our visit was very swift so we were not able to take lots of good photos. However, if you are in Quezon Province, this is one of the most recommended spots to visit. Built in early 19th century, this capitol was designed in the neo-classic style.
calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizalFrom 1930 until today, it is an example of the fusion between contemporary and historical styles featuring 24 free-standing figures of concrete casts by Italian sculptor Francesco Monti.

Dinner at Balaw Balaw Restaurant

calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal
Our final dinner was in Balaw Balaw Restaurant. Balaw Balaw is a local sauce usually served with Sinigang. It is made of small shrimps mixed with rice gruel plus a local herb with reddish color. It’s an art gallery cum restaurant but way bigger than Kape Kesada. I give Balaw Balaw Restaurant extra thousand points for providing a separate sink just few cartwheels away from the dining area. Guests are encouraged to wash their hands and of course, eat with their hands.

calabarzon-food-trip-in-celebration-of-filipino-food-month-quezon-laguna-rizal
L: Minaluto R: Itik Shawarma

By this time you can just imagine how much food we ate for the last two days so yours truly ate gracefully but made sure I tasted everything on the table! I specifically love “lauya” which is like sinigang except that Rizal folks drop cinnamon bark (sangkit) while waiting for the beef to be tender. Minaluto, a Filipino take on the paella was the star on our table. We had it in two versions: yellow and black. It is made of pork, chicken adobo, seafood, bougainvillea salad, crispy alagaw, burong balaw-balaw, fried & dried fish, grilled squid and more. Rice was colored black because of the squid tint. The native duck wrapped in pita bread is Rizal’s version of shawarma. We had “ensaladang mangga”, crispy alagaw and nilasing na hipon (alcohol-infused shrimps) as well. A glass of cold real tamarind juice was all I need to give justice to my heavy belly.

Big thanks to Miss Maria Cristina Decal, our tour guide for this trip. She grew up in a family who loves to eat and cook. In fact, she said the biggest portion of her house is the kitchen. Bonding together with her loved ones means sharing a (local) meal. She runs food and heritage tour in CALABARZON area. You can find her on Facebook under the name Kulinarya Tagala.

Ilagan Sanctuary: Isabela Province’s Nature and Adventure Site

Not many of all you know that there are places to visit in Isabela. They might be more known when it comes to agriculture being the rice and corn granary of the Philippines but Isabela also has a lot to contribute in terms of tourism. Isabela is also the second largest province in the country and we haven’t explored its boundaries. Isabela is also the home to the grandest Bambanti Festival.
When you head to Isabela or Ilagan City, you shouldn’t miss the experience of adventure and excitement at Ilagan Sanctuary.

What the Ilagan Sanctuary has to Offer

Entrance Fee: 100 per person / 80 – Senior citizens

Activities and Rates at Ilagan Sanctuary (per person)

Bicycle rental – 100 Php

The activities I got to try were the Zipline, Cable Car, and the Treetop Adventure. We also got to visit the three (3) caves in the sanctuary and the animal kingdom (mini zoo) with lions, tigers, boa, crocodile, turtles, monkeys, and more.

Zipline

The zip line in Ilagan Sanctuary holds the record for the fastest zipline in the Philippines according to our guide. You’d be coming from a 700 feet high hill then heading fast down to only a few meters high above the ground area.

Cable Car

The cable is your fastest way up the hill for the zip line. It can carry up to four people at once.

Treetop Adventure (see video below)

This isn’t like the treetop adventure in Baguio, this one’s an easier track. You will only have to take off your fear of heights and cross the hanging bridge. This track leads to the caves.

Main Cave

Main Cave is the first cave you’ll enter after finishing the bridges course on Treetop. It’s also the largest cave among the three caves.

Moon Cave

Moon Cave, Ilagan Sanctuary - https://twobudgettravelers.com

The Moon Cave was called such because it has a hole at the center for the light to enter.

Altar Cave

This cave was called the Altar Cave as it has an altar-shaped crevice where a religious image was previously placed.

Animal Kingdom

The Animal Kingdom is a mini zoo within the sanctuary. It holds lions, tigers (the biggest tigers I’ve seen so far), monkeys, domesticated giant snakes/boas, crocodiles, turtles, a lot more.

There was even a waterfall in the sanctuary which can be trekked for about 20-30 mins. We didn’t get to see the waterfall as we only have a limited time.

How to get to Isabela

If you don’t feel like driving 380 kilometers to Isabela, you can take a ten (10) to eleven (11) hour provincial bus ride from Kamias, Quezon City straight to Cauayan, Isabela for just P650.00 per person. You can easily book your ride as this is available in huge bus companies such as Victory Liner, Five Star Bus, and Florida Transport. Check bus rates here.
But if you want to immediately get there to start your adventure, you can book a flight to Cauayan, Isabela with an approximate travel time of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

How to get to Ilagan Sanctuary

The terminal to Ilagan Sanctuary is located along the National Highway at Brgy. San Andres, 6 km north of the city of Ilagan. One can ride a northbound bus, van or jeepney and alight at the junction, where tricycles (PHP 150 roundtrip, with waiting time) can be hired to take you to Ilagan Sanctuary (entrance fee: PHP 50, inclusive of use of the swimming pools) in Brgy. Santa Victoria.
If you have a car, use Google Maps or Waze for navigation. Else, ride a tricycle and ask the driver to drop you off at Ilagan Sanctuary.

Gosho no Yu Onsen: The Experience of Bathing Naked Publicly

Goshono-yu (“imperial palace bath”) is one of Kinosaki’s largest bathhouses. Also known as the “Water of Beauty”, brings luck in love and protects you against fires. Goshono-yu features a multi-level outdoor bath facing a waterfall, as well as a granite water bench and as steam sauna where onsen water is sprayed into the air to create a fine mist.

Gosho no Yu Onsen - www.twobudgettravelers.com

It’s already past 10 pm when we got to Goshono-yu. This was the onsen house that was very close to Tsukimotoya Ryokan and is still open until 11 pm. The structure is very well aligned to the likeness of Kyoto Imperial Palace. Its design is more of the old-fashioned castles found in animes and old Japanese movies.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff with pleasant smiles. Took our onsen passes for verification and told us to head inside immediately as we only have a very limited time left to take a bath and enjoy the hot spring bath. As I have mentioned, the men’s and women’s room are separated. They have instructions displayed on a corner of what to do’s as well as the dos and donts.

Onsen Locker Room

Gosho no Yu Onsen - www.twobudgettravelers.com

Inside the changing room are people who were still going to plunge in and people who were already finished bathing. Look for an open locker and place your belongings inside, including your yukata, undershirt, your underwear, and your big towel, except for your small towel. The small and big towel will be provided by your ryokan, in our case, Tsukimotoya Ryokan.

Expect the unexpected, though! You might be seeing naked people upon entry! This will probably put you in shock for a few seconds if you are not informed that you won’t be bathing in with clothes on. Well, we’re lucky we did our research. We’re a little hesitant at the start but we have to think that this is the culture of onsen and we should respect and abide by that. This is not relatively new to me. I have been naked most of my life so it’s not really much of a bother. LOL, just kidding! I had already set myself to that instance that we will be bathing without any clothes on, but only a small towel to hide our private parts.

Going to the Onsen Area

When we went inside, there are not a lot of people because probably it was already late. Less than an hour remaining and it’s closing. The steam of the hot spring is enticing and enthusiasm both reaches our senses. Inside is the hot spring area, shower area, sauna area and outdoor hot spring area. But, before dipping into the pool of hot water, we must first shower ourselves. There are instructions with photos so you won’t really have a hard time understanding the instructions at all.

Gosho no Yu Onsen - www.twobudgettravelers.com

After showering, we slowly took our place in the pool of hot water. The water’s temperature is about 38º-50º pretty hot but definitely won’t hurt your skin. It was a big bunch of relief to my muscles who had been tired of walking and carrying the baggage all day! The water was simply calming and relaxing. I’m sure my nerves were like partially sleeping but active. It’s very soothing and you can feel your senses relaxing. You can even sleep. No wonder why Japanese have such long lives and fresh-looking skin. If I’d be at an onsen at least twice or thrice a week, I’m pretty sure I won’t have to go to dermatologists to ask why are pimples coming. Like seriously, I feel like very pampered when I was there in the onsen. It’s definitely a different feeling, and when you go to Japan, YOU SHOULD TRY IT!

Gosho no Yu Onsen - www.twobudgettravelers.com
Outdoor Onsen

Gosho no Yu Onsen - www.twobudgettravelers.com
Inside Gosho no Yu

Few minutes have passed, my muscles relaxed. Emil and I decided to go to the outdoor hot spring pool with a mini waterfall that brings it like it’s naturally made. Unlike in the indoor area where hot the steam is enclosed, the outdoor area is cold. Also, it was a bit raining that time and the water droplets add more coldness feeling to the skin. In order not to feel cold, you surely would dip yourself in the hotness of the waters. Ah! More refreshed feeling for us! Not a massage but the feeling is somehow similar to that. Relaxed and feeling so clean and pure!

Kuroko's Basketball - Snapshot - www.twobudgettravelers.com

We then decided to try the sauna room. There are no people so there’s only the two of us inside it. I’m not sure about the temperature but it feels hotter than the water. While in there, we had a small chat about what we did earlier before going to Kinosaki Onsen, and that we should go onsen hopping. A few minutes later, we felt an increase in our breathing, like we are palpitating. I know it’s a normal effect but this is a new feeling for us. We stayed not more than 10mins inside sauna room because breathing gets a little more difficult every minute we were there. Probably because of the hot air we are breathing and oxygen intake is even less than normal. But hey, it’s a sauna and in the Philippines, we don’t get to do that always!

[hoops name=”InArticle”]

It’s not more than an hour that we get to enjoy this lovely experience. Dipping in the hot pool relieves pain, soothes muscles and relaxes your nerves. I’m sure we’ll be having a good night sleep!

After sauna experience, we again dipped into the pool for a few minutes and then washed. Heading out of the pool area, we decided to at least use the hair dryers, but we were stopped by the staff saying they are already closed and no electrical equipment shall be used. We saw an old man who luckily we found with an underwear on and is stretching his arms and legs after the bath. :p Another middle-aged guy who just finished washing his self and is ready to put on an underwear. Seriously, though, nakedness is a normal thing in here, in an onsen. Even if you see their private part, it’s nothing to them. They see your private part, it’s gonna be like nothing to you. LOL! Japanese culture is really something.

At Home Camping Ideas for Children and Families

Spending time with your kids promotes a healthy relationship and boosts the child’s self-worth. Now’s the perfect time to bond with kids and reinforce quality time. Since your family cannot go out and visit places, the best camping destination is in your backyard.

Camping is a fun outdoor activity that allows children to play and learn new things. This is one of the relationship building activities that can engage your kids. Since you’re at home, you might have limited camping ideas in mind.

Get your kids to stay away from gadgets at the moment. Spend quality time camping in your backyard and create lasting memories. Here are some camping ideas for children and families. We’ve compiled fun ways to enjoy your backyard getaway without expensive materials.

Organize a Treasure Hunt

Before setting up the tent and organizing food items in the backyard, you can think of fun games that will lead kids outdoors. A treasure hunt with clues all over the yard is one exciting activity for children. To make things a little challenging, you can incorporate educational clues all over.

If you have a small yard, you can always get creative and make props. Think the activity through and decide how kids can find the treasure in a limited space. The treasure could be anything like food, new toys, or a token that they can use for the whole camping experience.

Play a Backyard Bingo

Spend the afternoon playing themed bingo outdoors. If you are a big family, this will be the chance to bond with one another by playing human bingo or any other themed bingo. The winner also gets a prize or token, which is an ultimate motivator for kids.

Make sure to create a theme that is suited for younger kids. Do not leave behind kids and make sure everyone can join the game. One fun twist is letting children find objects on their cards. This will make them adjust to playing outdoors and develop new skills.

Cook Outside

Another fun at home camping ideas to try is cooking outdoors. Teach kids how to make fire and let them do some simple errands like washing the ingredients or mixing the sauce. Cooking outside makes the camping experience more authentic and fun for the family.

Plan the meals according to family favorites and snacks such as hot dogs or S’mores. Prepare easy campfire recipes that your whole family can enjoy. The trick here is letting your children take over some tasks so they can be fulfilled after cooking.

Play Sports

Burn off energy with physical playtime in the form of sports. It could be Frisbee, badminton, football, or tug of war. A small tournament can be more exciting, plus kids can be motivated with prizes.

For extremely hot days, you can simply organize a beanbag toss or croquet for less strenuous activities. Outdoor activities like sports make camping less boring and totally fun. Every kid loves a little bit of action to boost skills and stamina.

Stargaze

At night, your family can lie on the grass and stargaze. No need for a heavy-duty telescope because binoculars can do the trick. You can name the stars and allow kids to name theirs too. To make things more fun, let children draw shapes they can see in the sky.

Storytelling is part of stargazing and this will allow kids to learn more things about the stars, moon, sun, and other entities. Parents can also use this opportunity to educate children on facts about planets, and the solar system

Sing Along

To cap off the night, your family can gather around a fire pit and sing along. Play an instrument and sing your favorite songs. Do this while sipping hot chocolate or while eating a snack. Take this opportunity to teach kids some new songs and encourage the family to make catchy music.

Each family member can also prepare a special performance. This will help children boost confidence and develop singing skills.

Conclusion

Spending quality time with your family doesn’t need to be extravagant. A simple camping once in a while makes up for a unique and memorable experience. Parents simply need to be creative and to find ways to engage kids of all ages.

Make sure to plan ahead and provide decent prizes that kids will love. It could be a good snack, coupon, or any other items you can find at the grocery.
