After a tiring hike under the heat of the sun to see the Taal Volcano crater, we spent a good night’s sleep and rest at Don Pepe Private Resort.
I really don’t know much history about Don Pepe Private Resort but what I know of is that this property used to be a rest house or a private house for a family gathering and was later on put into business as a private resort.

If I’m not mistaken, Don Pepe Private Resort has 5 rooms adjacent to each other. Each room is good for 2-6 people with mattress extensions after 4 people. The rooms are quite simple but are airconditioned and each has a small ensuite bathroom.

Don Pepe Private Resort is actually inviting on the inside. It also has an ample parking space to fit for maybe 2-4 cars.
A swimming pool is also built for this resort. It has a separate little water garden but unfortunately, it has not been taken care of for quite a while as some of the leaves were already brown and dry and there is moss everywhere on that part. Still, it’s pretty for the photos nonetheless.

What’s great about this resort making it a top choice for photo shoots and events is that the landscape garden with a view of Taal Lake is well-crafted and totally wedged out. The grasses create a great scene and everything is green.
They also have a mini-restaurant good for your dining needs. But I’m pretty sure you probably could also bring your own food in the resort.
The best part I experienced when we were in this resort is when we got to know more each and everyone in the trip, the #LakbayLawaMediaFamTour family. We exchanged ideas and laughs while enjoying the swimming pool after a tiring day.

The resort also has a good spot for sunset. The sunlight reflects very well on the resort creating natural orange hue around the place, making the resort a picture perfect venue for all occasions.

The activities you can do while in Don Pepe Private Resort:

1. Kayaking: They have facilities and equipment for the kayak. You can either roam around the Taal Lake or do kayaking in the Pansipit River, which I did and I enjoyed it. Kayaking is best experienced in the morning.
2. Boating: They also have a boat that I think you can rent. This is also best experienced in the morning.
3. Swimming: You can opt to swim at the swimming pool or jump in the natural waters of Taal Lake.

The next day, we head to the Ruins of the Old Taal Church as it is only a few meters away from the resort.

How to get there:

From Manila:

1. Ride a bus bound for Lemery. Drop off at the last stop.
2. Ride a jeepney bound for San Nicolas. Drop off at the Municipal Hall (or ask the driver if they will be passing by the Old Taal church).
3. Walk for a few meters or ask around where Don Pepe Private Resort is. It’s quite known in the area as it is the only resort that’s closest to the municipal hall of San Nicolas, Batangas.
